HUGE Antique English Tall Case / Grandfather Clock c. 1865
Have a big space? I have a BIG clock. This mahogany case. Moon dial, original base, unrestored clock is likely Yorkshire, a"Yorkshire Chubby" These large clocks were made mid-1800's and are impressive cases, moon dials, and a full 6-8" wider than a'typical' UK tall clock. This particular clock is right out of a house. Runs fine, strikes properly, and is unrestored. The dial, in my view, shows 150 years of age but is completely legible. A nice feature are the hemispheres with a country scene rather than globes. It adds more color to the dial. There is no date function, typical on the majority of early clocks. Several methods were used for the date wheel and they were all flawed although I've had some that were fine. The brass finials are older replacements and I've ordered the correct replacement rosettes ... moreto complete the case. Measures 96" high. 25" wide, and 12" deep. Pickup here or freight. Antique American Tall Case / Grandfather Clock c. 1810 REDUCED 25%
THIS IS TRUE AMERICANA. I sell a fair amount of tall case clocks on eBay and this is another good one. Reportedly from Kentucky and dating to around 1810. This 30 hour clock has a myriad of things going for it. Unlike PA clocks of the period with German 30 hour movements and a wooden dial, this boy has a hand painted sheet iron dial and brass movement. The case is superb with a carved shell, dovetailed bonnet, original base AND bottom board(never blown out by a weight) The finish on the case appears to be unmolested as does the paint on the dial. Everything has been together for 200+ years; no repairs to the case. No touchups on the dial. It never had a center finial. It is tall and slender, striking appearance in person. Antique 18th Century English Tallcase Longcase Grandfather Clock Movement Dial
This auction is for an antique English tall case movement/dial. I acquired this years ago when buying a collection of antique clocks. I am clearing out my storage. Dials measurements are 16.5" High. 12" wide, 12" high to the start of the arch. The arch starts 1" in on each side, arch is 4.5" high. Dial is brass with hand engraving. Reads William Wichcord Ingatestone. I think I looked it up years ago and he was listed as a late 18th century maker. Has time. Antique Tall Case / Grandfather Clock Ireland c. 1730
If you like"early" this is a c. 1730 Irish tall case clock. 8-day time& strike. A lot of early clocks are 30 hour, not this one. A lot of early clocks are in oak cases, not this one. This has the original strap pendulum, original brass cased weights, movement& dial are original to the case. The backboards are replaced but I give it a'pass' for that considering it's 283 or so years old. String inlay, never had finials, has thumb notches on case and bonnet. The door hinges look original. Best of all, the movement was just serviced($450) and is guaranteed for a year. No calendar. Height 78" Pickup or freight. English/Scottish 1820's Grandfather Clock Antique 86" tall
I know nothing about antique clocks I purchased this clock at an estate sale about 10 years ago because I thought it had perfect balance in form and wood selection. I have admired it in my woodshop ever since. I was told at the time of purchase that once leveled it ran perfectly. I have never run the clock. There are two small repairs to the case otherwise the case has all its original parts. It has no markings on the mechanism. Nice little Grandfather clock. I think it is brass. It doesn't stick to a magnet. It's a really cool little piece, it looks really nice on a mantle. Antique 1800s Tall Case Grandfather Handmade CLOCK KEY w/Rosewood turned handle
BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE ROSEWOOD HANDLED CLOCK KEY. This clock key is totally handmade and dates from the 1800s or earlier and was used on a weight driven tall case clock. The solid brass key will fit a square arbor that is 5.8mm across on one side but because the key has a split the other side opening is 6.1mm across but narrows just 4mm deep into the hole back down to 5.8mm across. I do not know if this can be repaired or not or may not need to be. The dark patinated steel handle is elegantly formed and is in excellent condition. The handturned Rosewood knob has no splits or cracks and shows the original French Polish finish that is deep and heavily age patinated and turns freely on a crafted brass center with a bulls eye pattern. A few moments on Google got me the makers name: James Topham of Nantwich. England, he had a clock makers business there in the first half of the 19th. century. I can say that whomever painted his dials was talented! This one shows a lovely fruit motif in the corners.Or are those tea roses? Condition is good. But not perfect. It certainly surprised me when I found out this was 175ish years old! There is some flaking and wear in the painted surface. Let the high magnification photos be your guide, but generally it's condition belies what you'd expect from an object this old that had been seperated from it's original protected domain. Dimensionally it's about 14 in height x 14 1/8 in wide, but as you might expect from an early 19th century hand made object, it's not perfectly square. O f course, as with everything I sell. Hello you are bidding on an Antique 5 Tube Herschede Hall Clock. This clock is for PARTS OR TOTAL RESTORATION. NO RESERVE AUCTION! It is in no way able to run or function in the current condition. I will offer to sell you just the movement. Dial, pendulum, weights and tubes if you do not want to bother with a large case. The cost of shipping will need to be quoted to you based on your location. All parts with no case will be shipped via the UPS store and the buyer will be responsible for all of that cost, based on how heavy and the size I would say it will be around $250 depending on your location. So you can make your mind up what parts you want for the final auction price. I will not ship the case with all the other parts and it will only be available for local pick up in Fort Collins, CO. However the largest weight has broken the cable and smashed through the bottom of the case breaking off the back legs and the floor of the clock. The rest of the case is ok with only minor nicks and scratches that will be minimal repair. All the beveled glass is there and the hinges work ok. Missing is the back frame where cloth would have been. The movement is dirty, it was running before the cable broke. The dial, case and movement are all marked Herschede either with the crown or the crown and name. The pendulum rod is rusted at the top and the bob is dented. There are 5 tubes and only one is totally dull. The dial and moon phase are in ok condition, certainly legible and only a little tarnished. The movement is all there and looks dirty and maybe slightly worn. The clock case is 78" tall and 15" deep. The case appears to be mahogany. If you have the skill this clock could be a show stopper. 3 Antique Clock Pendulums Wood Brass Cast Iron Parts Grandfather Patent 1881
Lot of 3 antique clock pendulums. 2 have wooden shafts with brass plated iron bodies. The top one in the pictures is 6 1/4" by 2 1/2" and weighs 3.8oz. The lower one in the photos is 6 1/2" by 2 3/4" and weighs 2 oz. The largest one is 13 3/4" by 2 1/2" and weighs 5.4oz. It's face is brass. And is graded in increments from 0-100, with the letters S& F(I assume are for slow and fast) and is patent dated MCH 1st 1881. Antique used"Arts& Crafts" grandfather-clock as per pictures. I am guessing it was made around"1915-1918" It has beveled-glass on the bottom section of door and the round glass at the top is convex(curving-out) The wood case has an arched-top and is in very-good original finish. 3-brass weights may be replacements. Not sure is it works and is un-tried. Very good looking clock. What you see in the pictures is what you get. Condition: as stated in the auction details. Used item and shows wear and age but overall very good with breaks to wood-body, glass is very good with no cracks or breaks, movement is there but not sure it runs, pendulum is there but missing the end-screw that holds the pendulum weight in place, the brass dial is very-good as per pictures.
