Fantastic streamline steno desk chair from one of the better American chair makers Sturgis. The ads I have seen for this model are from 1953 but I found the design patent for the base dated 1941. Swivels. Rolls on casters, adjusts in height and has a tilt seat function with variable tension. This has the chunkiest metal rolling base of any office chair that I know of. Chair base is formed of welded steel as is the frame which is stripped bare waxed steel in nearly all exposed places and shows the brass welds. Base has chrome or stainless steel accent trim. Original upholstery is a very dark green- nearly black with black piping on the seat. Sturdy item that does everything it is supposed to. More rare than Shaw Walker or Steelcase secretary chairs or goodform by General Fireproofing. Would go nicely with a bare metal simmons desk. Eames Lounge Chair Series 1
Rare series 1 production Rosewood Eames Chair and Ottoman. I believe that this was built in 1956. The wood needs some shining up but I just don't have the time. This chair belonged to my mother in law who I believe bought it new. There appears to be a little white paint on the back of the head rest that will probably come off.see photo) The leather is not original. For some reason my mother in law had them change the ottoman cushion to 4 buttons. You could change it back easily. The ottoman has a small chip on the inside and a chip on the outside(see photos) All and all it is in amazing shape for a 57 year old chair. Wow.what a pair of chairs! This pair is from the 1960's and is oh so sparkly! The vinyl is in fantastic condition. With only one very small hole(see picture#3) and a slight scratch(see picture#11) to the back of one of the chairs. There are some paint speckles on the chairs, bt I hav found they can be removed. I have removed quite a few of the specks, but will leave the rest to the new owner. If you weren't looking for them, you really wouldn't be able to see them. see pic#9) The black paint on the metal portions is worn and scratched, but this just adds to the authenticity of the chairs. They are SUPER cool, and would make a great addition to any MCM collection. Herman Miller Shell Chair Fiberglass Vintage eames era classic Orange MidCentury
This is a vintage original Herman Miller fiberglass Shell chair in the beautiful classic orange color. The chair is in excellent original condition. The base on it is the stacking style which is great for storage and locks side by side to other stacking Shells. It has been bolted through. Which is stronger, to attach the top to the base, instead of the original adhering. The feet all appear to be the original white plastic ones and intact. The top surface is in good condition with a few dings and marks but nothing too serious. The back and bottom have a little bit of wear but again nothing too serious. These are all the flaws that I can notice at the moment if you are questioning anything ask and I will look into it. The pictures show the condition of the chairs well. Biography: Architect and furniture designer Pierre Jeanneret worked for most of his life alongside his more famous cousin Le Corbusier(Charles-Edouard Jeanneret) Pierre partnered with his cousin in 1922 following his graduation from the École des Beaux-Arts. And they worked on a number of major building projects together. Le Corbusier and Jeanneret renewed their working relationship in the early 1950s to collaborate on the urban planning project in Chandigarh, India. Chandigarh was an experimental modernist city located approximately 150 miles north of New Delhi and serves as capital to two ... moreIndian states, Punjab and Haryana. There they created many low cost civic buildings that are now considered landmarks of modern architecture. To complement the buildings, Jeanneret also designed much of the furniture for these government offices and educational institutions. Vintage Herman Miller Eames Upholstered Fiberglass Shell Chair Swivel Casters
For auction is one vintage Herman Miller Eames shell arm chair upholstered in its original orange. Wool-blend fabric. The fiberglass shell is white and has the swivel base with casters(fixed height, non-tilt) It is in excellent condition overall, but the fabric has"puckered" along the lower seam where it's separated from the foam padding. There are some very, very faint small stains on the seat(which I have provided a close-up of) though as you can see from the photos, they are hardly noticeable overall. There are also some slight indentations in the armrests(pictured) I have had the upholstery professionally cleaned, so it most likely will not clean up any better than what you see here. The shell, which has been thoroughly cleaned and buffed, is in perfect shape. The hard black rubber edge is also in great shape and has only ... morelight scratches near the arms. The aluminum base has been polished, but has a few spots of dark oxidation common to these bases(the most obvious of which I've photographed) The casters have all been cleaned& re-lubricated and roll smoothly. This is one of two matching Hermann Miller shell chairs I'm selling on eBay at the moment; be sure to take a look at the other one!
