The brackets measure 9 1/2" tall x 7 1/2 across the top. They have an ornate curl on the end where the shelf would rest. I would say a 6" deep shelf would be placed in the area. Each side of the shelf brackets have 4 holes for mounting to the wall and 4 holes to mount the wood shelf you provide. These were commonly used at the turn of the century and seen in Grocery Stores. Vintage large 15.25x16.75 gray steel folding shelf brackets
This is a large pair of folding shelf brackets. They are 16 1/4" by 15 3/4" by 1- 1/8" wide. When folded. They are 2" from front to back. Each has 6 holes for mounting. They are made of stamped steel with a gray paint finish. In a few spots the finish has worn away and there is some surface rust. These are sound and functional. Stanley made folding shelf brackets like these in the 1930s but I was not able to find their sweetheart mark on this pair. A folding shelf might be nice above a work table for temporary storage of tools or materials. These could also be used for a temporary laptop desk. If you have any questions. Please ask.

These mount to a pipe or wooden pole(vertical element) You then could use wooden shelves with some pieces of half round glued to the bottom to keep them in place. You could run a piece of pipe or round wood in the two depressions and use glass on top of that for the shelves. Or these could be used in a green house to hold water pipes with spray heads to water the beds of plants under them. They stick out 11 1/2 inches from the pipe. The two half moon cut outs are 7 inches center to center. they are 4 1/2 inches tall. Or use them to hang plants. Glad to answer any questions about this item.

This pair of old shelf brackets are 8" by 10" by 1" wide. Each has 6 holes for mounting. Their black japanned finish is worn. And where the metal is exposed, it is rusty. Here is an amazing lot of 4 beautifully ornate cast iron shelf brackets that are each two pieces- they are reversible so you can fit them into the wall brackets both ways. I sell a lot of this kind of stuff and this lot of stuff is the best I have ever had. They and an 1886 patent date. The"smaller" still large) brackets are 16" x 8" and the larger brackets are 21" x 9" and the vertical pieces that screw to the wall are 24" long. they have multiple notches so you can adjust the shelf up and down- really great. It gets even better if you like provenance- these were screwed to a wall of a hardware store in the 1890s and just unscrewed from the same building this week. They are japanned black and then someone has painted gold over them. This look is actually pretty cool- mostly gold with black flecks showing ... morethrough. For sale is a pair of matching cast iron vintage brackets with a victorian scroll work pattern. The size is 8.5" one way and slightly shorter at 7.5" long the other way. They are just under 1" thick. Nice set. No damage other than some rust on the edges-easily cleaned off. There are mounting holes on each bracket. Elegant Victorian style polished brass shelf brackets with a flowing floral design pattern to each side. Made using an original 1884 bracket as a pattern and made slightly larger for todays use. Now the ideal size for CDs and DVDs also plate racks and small books. Approximate dimensions: wall plate 79mm x 18mm. Shelf arm 124mm in projection from the mounting. Incorporated to the right side of each bracket is the original registered design number for 1884, two counter sunk fixing holes to the wall plate mounting, the shelf arm also has screw points enabling the wooden shelf to be fixed into position.
