A beautifully engraved and very detailed map of this region. In Good+ to near VG or better condition. Some light scattered foxing as typical, light toning, and some mostly minor light dampstaining along top margin into the map area a small bit- none of which are visually offensive[note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws] The printed area remains visually pleasing. A sub-department of the British Admiralty, was established in 1795 and issued its first officially published Admiralty chart in November 1800. Admiralty charts show navigational hazards such as reefs and wrecks, and navigational aids such as lights, buoys and beacons. Nineteenth-century charts may show coastal elevations and topographic views, useful to identify landfalls and prominent fixing marks.
