Vintage Fabcra ft metal tray. Features the coat of arms for King and Queen County Virginia on a blue background and antique gold tone rimmed border. Decorated with a dragon and a bull. A shield, a hand grasping an ear of corn, pine cones and a banner across the bottom which reads Pro Deo Et Patria. Artist indicated on the back is Richard A. Genders. Extensive information on the details of the coat of arms is on the back of the tray. Marked Fabcraft. Frenchtown NJ and Made in USA on the side of the tray. This tray was a promotional item from the Bank of Middlesex in 1980 which had locations in Saluda. Deltaville, Mattaponi and Urbanna, Virginia. The bank is now a little piece of history itself as it was acquired by a larger bank in the mid 1980s. I believe this to be a WWII(but I don't know for sure) British 10th County of London Queen's Westminsters hat badge. Missing the pin on back and it looks to me like this has been painted with glossy black paint. But I'm not sure if they came that way originally. It just looks painted to me. Up for sale are these three scraps of papers that I have been told are slave documents from King& Queen County in Virginia. Beyond that. I know nothing about them. I do see the name Lumpkin a couple places and I can trace that name back to that region, but beyond that I am clueless. I have no idea why these are cut into smaller pieces? Receipts? The first one measures around 3 5/8" by 5 1/4" The one side has a name at the heading of Nicheson( Lumpkin. It then goes into details of ages and property values. There is an amount of State Stock at the end. But again I have no idea what that means. The backside of this one has a couple other names, including John Lumpkin and Polly Longham. The second one measures around 1 7/8" by 5 5/8" The one side has the name Gowin( Jackson with property details. The backside has a lot ... moreof property details that has been crossed out. A perfect and nearly untouched glimpse into the highly original and individualistic techniques of the artisans of Chester County, Pennsylvania. Crafted in the last quarter of the 18th Century c. 1770-90, this table exhibits all of the qualities we cherish in American Queen Anne tea tables, but reinterpreting the norms of table making in a wonderful way. Perfection of balance is achieved in the weight of the top versus the mass of the baluster, presented with bold stance over generous cabriole legs. The effect brings out a strength and striking ... morepresence infrequently achieved in a rural work. The three board cherry top is a choice very specific to works of Chester County. The craftsmen there probably preferring this to single board construction first for the cost savings, but also as it reduces the possibility of cracking along the grain; the mitered tongue-in-groove joints are hide glued and easily repaired as the table shrinks and expands. This simple repair was executed on at least one part of this table, allowing what would have been a large shrinkage gap to be easily healed and reset without in any way detracting from the table. The top is affixed to the pair of cleats on the back with rows of steel screws, many still the original hand forged and filed steel screws that the table left the shop with. It tilts over a rounded birdcage. A detail highly specific and documented to this county, the structure raised over eight pillars that tenon through the round bottom and square top while retaining a lobed ring on the inside to surround the shaft as it joins through the birdcage. This shaft is locked with the original wedge, allowing the table to rotate freely without being"caught" on the pillars as it sp
