Large Vintage Cast Iron Victorian Swivel Wall Hanger Hinged Coat Antique Hook
Hello there. Up for auction I have a vintage Victorian cast iron swivel wall hanger. The hanger measures 15" from top to bottom. And the 4 hooks measure 10" 8" 5-1/2" 4" from top to bottom respectively. Each hook turns 180 degrees, and each has 3 pinholes in the back to hold each hook in a different place. This piece weighs just over 4-1/4 pounds. This item does have paint loss and very minimal surface oxidation, particularly on the back where it is attached to the wall. TRULY RARE PAIR OF VICTORIAN CAST IRON WALL HUNG HAT COAT RACKS IN THEIR ORIGINAL NICKEL PLATED FINISH. Each rack has three fancy. Three prong hooks screwed to a ball tipped back plate. Recently acquired from a long closed Chicago barber shop Marks. As is typical with utilitarian objects, these were not marked by the maker. Composition: Cast iron. Nickel plated finish. each rack composed of four pieces held together with slot head screws. Condition. Plating wear varies between the two, light rust on the exposed iron. Tight. The middle ball tip on one hook is missing. These racks were so often later painted that I was pleased to see that this pair had not been altered. Dimensions: 11 1/2" long. 10 1/4" wide, 6" deep. This piece is a cast iron wall hanger with 3 hooks measuring 6" x 10 1/2" This item is ecru/off white in color and has a subtle aged look to it. You'll notice 2 VERY minor spots in the upper left that are the tiniest of chips in the paint. So small I can't even really take a measurement of them. Also. Take a look at the photos and you'll see where there is a small crack on back of one of the hangers near the screw. This crack has not seemed to really make all that much of a difference. The hanger still feels and looks pretty stable. This piece has a rather Victorian. French Country flair to it but would compliment any decor style rather well. These hooks are in excellent vintage condition except for some white paint on the back of the bases of these hooks. They have a wonderful leaf motif entwining the hook arms. And. Of course they have beautiful acorn ends on the their finials. Also, where the arms meet and where the hook would be screwed to the wall there is a small flower for accent. Penn Antique Restoration. Pair of Antique Victorian Cast Iron& Porcelain Coat Hooks. Beautiful. Antique coat hooks made by, Sargent& Co, of New Haven, CT during the 1880's. Each hook is made of solid, cast iron. One hook has 2 arms, and the other only has one. Each hook has one porcelain knob. Notice the lovely rosette sitting atop each knob-what a great accent! The body of the hooks are beautifully embellished with flowers and leaves. At the point of salvage. The hooks were dirty and heavily painted(see last photo) Much work went into removing the paint, cleaning and polishing each hook. The hook with only one arm originally had 2. But one broke off. I offer for sale these 2 Antique Victorian Ornate Brass and Cast Iron Coat/Hat Wall Hooks! Brass hook has a gorgeous ornate Victorian design and measures 4" out from wall to hook& 3&1/2" long. Great condition and patina but looks as if threaded rod was broken at some point. Still useable though.lots of threading still showing. Cast iron hook has a great design too and measures 3&1/4th" from wall to hook and 3&1/2" long. Hook has never been cleaned and shows slight surface rust. Selling as is the exact way that they were purchased from an estate auction in Illinois. Neither hook has ever been cleaned or polished.
