These very old brackets are made of cast iron. They could have originally been used as counter top supports. Shelves, flower box brackets, etc. There are many purposed for these large brackets. Each bracket has 5 holes for mounting on the top edge and 1 screw hole along the longer edge. Screws not included. Thus, the shelf could have up to five 5 screws mounted into it or the wall(depending on which way you install them) Measurements: They measure about 15 1/2" wide(projection from the wall) 18 1/8" tall and 1" thick(2" at the top edge for a bit) Thus these could be used for shelves 15 1/2" to 18" wide and wider(depending on how ... moreyou install them) Condition: They are in good condition with no cracks or other damage but the bottom end of each one was filed off for a smaller installation. These are well made and there are no cracks or imperfections in the casting that I can see. They have been wire brushed and sprayed with WD-40 but could use some more cleaning.
