They are made of a cast metal and have been painted black. The design is quite detailed and is very striking. They do have one broken place- the lower hole where you would put a screw is broken on one bracket. I think you could kind of cover it up when you put a screw there. Other than that. There are not any breaks or cracks. The paint is chipping in places, and there is some rust(both on the design part and on the back) it kind of adds to their aged look.
