The old gold ormolu has taken on a beautiful soft gently distressed look with the passage of time. I have left them just as I found them they would polish more if required but I adore this scrummy-lishious look. The have a fabulous fatigued French look and are in great condition but they do have a little split in the bronze but they are still sound. Please see the photograph. A fabulous pair of tiebacks. I don't think that my photographs have done enough justice to them. They measure 4½" for the length of the back plate. When on the wall they will sit 4" proud. The space for the curtain is approximately 3½" wide and 4" deep. The combined weight is 332 grams. On the rear they are marked JD 375. I have left them as I found them but they would polish up. Pair Antique French Style Gilded Curtain Tiebacks w/Porcelain Flowers Fabulous Pair Antique French Style Curtain Tie Backs with assorted color porcelain flowers. Each measures 6" wide and 9" overall- Floral area is 6" x 7" long. They are about 4" deep. With two holes in the back to hang to wall or molding. There are some minor chips on the flowers and a petal missing on a large green flower and on a smaller yellow flower. There is some lettering on the back of one of the flowers but I can't make it out. With all that is going on it is hard to notice chips and flaws unless you are very close. Flowers are attached but some may be a bit loose due to age. Overall they are rare and unusual and display well. I think the metal is brass with a dore bronze finish. GOOD QUALITY PAIR OF ANTIQUE FRENCH GILDED BRASS CURTAIN/DRAPE HOLD BACKS A very good heavy quality pair of curtain hold backs dating from around 1890. The front cartouche has a torch and quiver design with a garland of roses above a brass curtain swag and the backplate is in the shape of a quiver with a decorative small brass finial at the top of the curved and carved stem. Each backplate has a hook for attaching to the wall and has a set of impressed numbers. They are solid cast in bronze/brass and have an ornate design of swagged roses and flowers around an acanthus leaf. Including the screw they each measure approximately 11.5cm or 4.5" in length the diameter of the end section that fits onto the pole measures approximately 4cm or 1.5" Condition These finials are in good used condition having a lovely patina commensurate with age. I have left these finials as I have found them but I am sure that they would polish nicely if you required a brighter finish. The cups that fit onto the poles are slightly out of shape but they could be moulded back into shape once they have been secured to your pole.
