Up for auction is a lovely and sturdy Victorian Era metal wall hanger. These lovely old hangers were used to hang plants. Lanterns or oil lamps, or bird cages. There are no maker's marks or dates on this piece. It is a sturdy hanger and the arm is attached solidly attached to the backplate. This is a fixed arm hanger and it does not swivel. The design is very elegant featuring a scroll and fern-like design on either side of a center column. The backplate measures 5 3/4" high and is 3 1/4" across at the widest point. The hanger arm extends approximately 9 1/2" from the backplate and 9 3/4" from the wall when hung. The hanger is in very good antique condition with a lovely red/orange patina in the design. This bracket is most likely for hanging plants because it has an image of a potted plant cast into each side of it by the mounting base. Use it for what you like. It looks to be made out of cast metal.I'd make an educated guess and say it's aluminum by the fact that a magnet does not stick to it and by the shiny silver color where the paint is off on the backside, it looks like shiny aluminum peeking through the paint. Antique Iron Hinged Plant Lamp Hook
For sale. An antique plant or lamp hook. This hook is in excellent condition. A ton of paint was removed and the metal then cleaned and rubbed with gun oil. It measures about 11” long and 5/8" wide. There is no manufacturer name or other markings. It looks like the hinge was designed to be attached to the ceiling or underneath a cabinet, shelf or window casing. The hinge has two joints that allows the hook to be swung forward and/or from side to side. A stop on the hinge keeps it from swinging back. Shipping is $1.85.
