Description For auction is a superb vintage French coat rack formed from a heavy gauge cast steel. And in good overall condition. It originated from a local bistro and was removed when it closed last year. They are good solid hooks ideal for that loft or shabby chic interior. Fixing is via the holes drilled in the back plate. These hooks have a wonderful worn patina. However, with a little effort, and some wire wool they could be re-polished or painted if preffered, to suit any interior. Size the central peg is 31cm long. The likelihood of coming across another one like this is slim at best. I was told that this came out of a bank that was built in the early 1900s. They didn’t know if this was used as a coat rod or a foot rest at a large deposit slip table. I lean towards the foot rest because of no hanger marks. I actually bought this for myself in case I wanted to use it ... morein my wine room somehow. This is in good condition with the normal dings and scratches but brass will polish up superbly if that’s the look you prefer. The one attachment end is stuck on and I left it that way because it would be in that position anyway for instillation. If it to long for your project you could always cut it to the size you need. This is about 61 ¾” long x about 1 ½” in diameter. I would guess this is from the early 1900s but surly no later than the 1940s. The shipping is high because of the weight and the size box that must be used but I’d have no problem if you wanted to pick it up to save on the shipping cost. Please take a look at the many other antique hardware items I have listed. My pictures are large because I not only want to tell you what you’re getting but also for you to see what you’re getting. very unusual old coat hooks these are in a nordic viking style.No idea of age but certainly old they measure approx 5 inches total length(oviously the actual head is smaller) and there is 12 screw that held them to the wood as well these are really nice but do have signs of rust and the like. will look great wire brushed back to metal and repainted last photos show them mounted to the old peice of wood I took them off(if you want to pick them up you are welcome to this peice of wood but its pretty rotton/split and I am unable to post it.Not included in the auction for posting purposes)
