The have a fabulous fatigued French look and are in great condition but they do have a little split in the bronze but they are still sound. Please see the photograph. A fabulous pair of tiebacks. I don't think that my photographs have done enough justice to them. They measure 4½" for the length of the back plate. When on the wall they will sit 4" proud. The space for the curtain is approximately 3½" wide and 4" deep. The combined weight is 332 grams. On the rear they are marked JD 375. I have left them as I found them but they would polish up. There is slight wear to the guilding. This appears both on the bar of the hold back and also on the metal fixing bar. The weight unpackaged is 785g. They are in good condition for their age. Antique French Solid Bronze Curtain Drapery Tiebacks. Five in total with mounting hardware that is not the same age as the Tiebacks. Very decorative with Ribbons and Acanthus Leaves. These are not exactly the same size and suggest some hand forging. There is the mounting hardware and brass screws included. There are some marks on the back that are numbers and letters. Three measure approximately 4" tall back plate x 6 1/4" tall from curve at the bottom and 3 1/2" deep. Two more measure approximately 4" tall back plate x 4 1/2" tall from curve at bottom and 4 1/8" deep on one and 3 1/2" deep on the second one. Condition is very good on all five pieces. Each is topped with a scallop shell cartouche which is repeated on the ornate front medallion. The scallop shell is the symbol of Saint-Jacques. Dating to medieval times and associated with pilgrimages through France to Spain. It is found on many French decorative pieces. Textiles. Metalware and furniture. They are made of cast bronze with an applied gilding. Known as ormolu. It is no longer being made in the traditional way. Which goes back many centuries. It has been replaced with electroplating.
