Dating to around 1910. This lovely quite petite table is constructed of solid oak and has a beautiful tiger grain pattern. It has a warm. Mellow patina to its honey brown colouring. The table features fantastic grain patterns to the top surface. Achieved through the use of oak planks, rather than one piece of timber. It also gives it a more rustic, casual dining feel. It stands on lovely turned and fluted legs and has a substantial shaped stretcher base. The table will comfortably seat 4, or 6 people if smallish chairs are used. The table measures 120cm long. 89cm wide and the table surface is 77cm high. The table is in very good antique condition. Structurally strong and robust. It does have some scratching and bumps to the table surface, but these only add to the charm and character of the piece, and provide that more rustic feel- very chic! As with all quality antique and vintage furniture, age-appropriate wear and character marks should be expected. Niemann& Co. the second picture shows the label from the bottom of the table. The table itself is in fairly good condition. With a few nicks and scratches from normal wear. It is very sturdy; apparently, the slogan of H.C. Niemann was"strong enough to hold an elephant and designed to last a lifetime. According to some research I have done(see the following article from the Chicago Tribune: http:articles.chicagotribune.com/1996-04-14/news/9604140159_1_niemann-trains-kovels) The table must have been made between 1909 and 1929. For many years he worked out of the blacksmith shop, which was located at what is now 406 West Jefferson Street in Effingham, Illinois. ... moreThe wood for his blocks was cut in wooded areas surrounding Effingham and was mostly sycamore lumber. The lumber was processed in his sawmill and sent to his shop for finishing. The plant operated from a blacksmith shop until 1892 and then it moved across town, and began producing the blocks as we know them now. The blacksmith used a sycamore tree placed on three legs to straighten horseshoes. The wooden block absorbed the shock of the smith’s hammer. When the butcher saw the block where the anvil was resting. He realized he could use one in his meat market. So John Boos made him one and the rest is history. This is definitely one of the nicest carpenter benches we have come across! Someone took the time to preserve the character of this bench and they did an unbelievable job! It could definitely be used a workbench again. But we are thinking beyond that. With industrial and primitive being two of the hottest decor styles in demand right now. You can have the best of both worlds right here! Do you have extra space in your kitchen? If not you might want to think about knocking down a wall for this one! This would be the most unbelievable kitchen island or sideboard in your dining room! No room there? How about a very unique bar? Do you see the trough along the one side- or should I say drink rail? It does not appear to go in all the way and where it is pictured is as far as it goes. We are not 100% sure if that is how it is supposed to be or if it should be able to go in a little further. It couldn't go much further in though with the nuts sticking out of the side in that same area. It's an antique workbench so it has a lot of wear and tear to give it the character it has. If you are expecting something new and perfectly smooth on top this is not for you. It is impossible to describe every flaw and frankly in our eyes we do not consider them flaws. Structurally. Beautiful Antique Drop Leaf Expandable Kitchen or Dining Table. Solid Oak. Early American farm table. This is an amazing table built for any size room. It is a drop leaf table. Can be a table for two with leaves down. With leaves extended it sits four comfortably. I dont have extension leaves. But the middle opens to accept leaves and accommodate a large dinner party. It has a fifth leg as pictured in the center to administer weight evenly when leaves are inserted. The measurements when leaves are down is 41 1/2" W x 25" L x 30 1/2" T. With the drop leaves extended it is 41 1/2" W x 52 1/2" L. It has minimal wear to finish from practical use, it looks as though it has been refinished. The hinges are not original to the piece, but function perfectly. The casters seem to be original on the legs. There are two latches ... moreunderneath to keep both sides closed. Nice solid antique table. I believe is Mahogany wood. I believe it dates from 1920-1950. Very unique thick, chunky spindle legs. Some splits in the legs but does not affect the sturdiness of the table. Doesn't have the leaf to extend it. Beautiful carvings around the edge, some small pieces of veneer missing from the top but is not noticeable. Starting the bidding out low for this gorgeous table but have no reserve on it. Kitchen island, desk, workbench, table, bar height table I was given the chance to salvage anything I wanted from a small barn that was going to be demolished. The barn was right here in my home town of Fox River Grove. Illinois. This workbench was one of many treasures I acquired. It was in rough condition when I rescued it. I knew I could restore it to full glory. I think it came out spectacular, however you will be the judge, perhaps it will speak to you like it does to me! This is built like a battleship. The industrial grade frame is fantastic, it reminds me of a steel bridge.with the large rivets and big bolts&nuts.A few of the nuts are missing below the top, it has no effect on strength.there ... moreare so many other bolts&nuts holding the top in place, as I said built like a battleship! The top is 3 1/4 inches thick. Made of a total of 3 layers of wood. Uner the 3/4"thick oak strip top are 2 thick layers of planks, the front and side edges of the piece are covered in pine. I love the incredible patina of all of the wood including stains. Nail& screw holes, oak pegs, pinholes, orange-ish stain area on left side of top, there is even an area on the front left trim where the wood was charred from being burned(it is sealed with varnish and looks great)no doubt a torch was used to repair/weld something.The top has some waviness/wear as you would expect with age, it just adds to the wonderful character. The patina is second to none.patina like this can only be created by years& years of use and hundreds of projects being done on this bench I restored the entire bench by hand. I added some of the solid oak pegs in the top to seal old holes. The entire bench has been hand sealed with varnish. Everything including the underside of the top. The entire metal frame has been sealed, making it easy to wipe clean. the top was sealed with many, many coats of hand rubbe

This incredible piece makes a real statement and comprises a refinished old workbench butcher block top. The lower shelf(perfect for storage of pots and pans) was meticulously hand crafted using parts of the original table saw's top. This Antique Butcher Block Table is the real deal! I believe this antique butcher block table is over 100 years old. Although I really do not know how old it is. There are no markings any where on it. I do know that it was left in my house that was built in 1904. This could have belonged to Henry Rentschler of Hamilton, Ohio. It is in unrestored, unmolested condition. It does have several nicks, chipped wood, and chop marks. The top also appears to be stand with blood. This only adds to the appeal and is part of the antique patina. It appears to still be in the same condition as when it was last used. I have not cleaned it or washed it off, it has a unique spicy aroma that simply adds to its patina. However, I can clean it off prior to pickup or shipping. Unlike most butcher blocks on eBay that specify local pickup only.
