I am selling this wonderful Tiger Oak table that can be used for a kitchen or dining area. It is a dramatic piece and everyone comments on it when they come in. As you can see. I used it in a kitchen nook with a window seat before I changed decor. The table is 45" diameter. I have no idea how old it is but there is a sign on the bottom that says_Co. Montoursville, PA. I can't read the first part of the sign clearly. It is in good antique condition with a couple of bumps that could be retouched. See the next to last photo and look toward the center. The other bump did not show up in my pictures. It has a couple of injured paws as shown in 4 and 7 and the locking mechanism underneath may need another part to help it close. I do not have the leaf. ANTIQUE PEDESTAL DRAFTING TABLE. OAK AND IRON, ADJUSTABLE Nice example of this pedestal drafting table. We think it's by Dietzgen. But don't yet find a maker's mark. The original oak top remains. Which is itself hard to find these days. Looks like it was given a black limed-oak finish, which together with the black Japanned cast iron looks pretty sharp. Looks like an artist worked at this table once, there's a bit of dusky blue along the bottom edge. All together, I thought this was a nice'lived in' look for this piece while staying clean& subdued and dark, so I've left it as is, just gave it a good cleaning and waxing. These pedestal drawing tables are absolutely fab. And getting very rare and pricey it seems. They are everything this great era sought to convey; classical solidity, extremely well-crafted classic ... moreforms but with all the ingenuity combined with the cast-iron glory that characterized the Victorian Industrial furnishings. The knobs are awesome, tightens in a bunch of different ways; height up& down, with or without swiveling, tilting, flat, etc. This table is eminently flexible for all kinds of different uses. And looks great in whatever position you choose. It can be lowered and leveled to be a great end table, or raised to be a stand, or tilted to be a great display for art books, prints, or your antique plate volume of Diderot's Encyclopedia. You could use this for a multitude of different things and area due to its smaller size. The character here is interesting. It looks very much like a homemade piece and not anything that was mass produced or manufactured. The wood here is solid oak so it has a nice weight to it. It has been painted a chocolate brown and some of the paint is beginning to wear off. I can see nails at the top of the piece and some of the oak grain. It has nice detailing of wood gingerbread throughout and a decidedly folk art piece likely from the turn of the century or so. Antique Oak Round Pedestal Dining Table and 6 Oak Chairs
This is a lovely solid tiger oak table that measures 45" round and 28" tall. It has two 8" leaves. When both leaves are in place. It seats 6 people. I have 4 matching oak chairs and 2 extra matching oak chairs that are very similar to the 4 and all seats are upholstered with a lively print to match so you have extra seating when using the leaves. The chairs measure 38" tall, 17" wide and 16" deep. Both the table and the chairs are in great condition and have been refinished. I do not want to break up the set and would ideally like to sell the table and all 6 chairs. The price I'm asking is well below what the set is worth, but we are redecorating and need to find them a new home. This auction is for a miniature sized table that is possibly a salesman sample or apprentice piece. It is made from oak and has a nice finish to it with a center carved design. It has a nice patina to it and is just under 7" tall and about 11 3/4 inches in diameter. It's the perfect size for displaying dolls- I have a 19" Schoenhut doll pictured with the table to give you a sense of the scale. Only the little table is part of the auction. The doll will be listed in a separate auction along with many nicely scaled items. This table would look great with a little miniature tea set.
