Original color, antique white look is not exactly to your liking, I am sure that the cast iron white paint finish can more than likely be easily touched up with rust-proof spray paint. Up for auction is a lovely and sturdy Victorian Era metal wall hanger. These lovely old hangers were used to hang plants. Lanterns or oil lamps, or bird cages. There are no maker's marks or dates on this piece. It is a sturdy hanger and the arm is attached solidly attached to the backplate. This is a fixed arm hanger and it does not swivel. The design is very elegant featuring a scroll and fern-like design on either side of a center column. The backplate measures 5 3/4" high and is 3 1/4" across at the widest point. The hanger arm extends approximately 9 1/2" from the backplate and 9 3/4" from the wall when hung. The hanger is in very good antique condition with a lovely red/orange patina in the design. This is a great looking antique Arts& Crafts. Machine age era handwrought owl wall hook or plant hanger. I'm going to say it dates circa 1920s or 1930s. The piece protrudes 5 5/8 inches from the wall to the tip of the hook(14.3 cm) The owl and the surrounding decoration measure 6 1/4 inches high by 5 1/2 inches wide(15.9 cm x 14 cm) The backplate measures 9 1/4 inches tall by 1 3/8 inches wide(23.5 cm x 3.5 cm) The entire piece is hand done. Up to the tip of the actual hook, which in itself is really nicely shaped. There is some light rusting on it. There's also wear to the entire finish. But that's what gives it its great patina. It doesn't take away from the look at all. It only adds to it, in my opinion. It was hanging on the wall when someone painted the wall white. But didn't take the hook down. This bracket is most likely for hanging plants because it has an image of a potted plant cast into each side of it by the mounting base. Use it for what you like. It looks to be made out of cast metal.I'd make an educated guess and say it's aluminum by the fact that a magnet does not stick to it and by the shiny silver color where the paint is off on the backside, it looks like shiny aluminum peeking through the paint. Here is a folding cast iron bracket or hanger of some sort. I think it may be used to hold lanterns but I can't imagine why it wouldn't work well for a plant or even to hang your jacket on. 24" Rusty Iron Log Chain Plant Hanger Farm Tool Vintage Garden Decor Antique t
Vintage iron log chain. About 24 inches long with some surface rust. The links are round steel about 1/4 inch diameter. And 2& 1/4 inches long by 1 inch wide. The large link is about 3/8 diameter steel, 3& 5/8 inches long by 1& 3/4 inch wide. This is a nice old piece of chain. A great decorating item; use it to hang a plant or something; lay it on the coffee table as a conversation piece or paper weight. It weighs about one& one half pounds and will ship nicely in a small flat rate box.
