Vintage Hand Carved Painted Wood Bent Man Table Base
For sale I have a vintage piece of hand carved hand painted wood furniture. It is a table base in the shape of a bent man who would hold the glass up with his neck. It is missing the glass piece. Cosmetically it is in good condition with some light scratches and minor wear. There are some natural cracks in the wood on the bottom but no chips or cracks elsewhere. It is signed on the bottom but I can't make out the signature. It measures about 22 x 13 x 19 inches and is very heavy. I do not want to ship it because it is bulky and heavy. It is a sort of canyon red color with gold painted accents and trim. The paint has a rustic finish giving the desk plenty of charm and character. There are two drawers that open and close easily and are constructed with dovetailed joints. From the floor to the bottom of the desk ... moremeasures 24" Which is pretty standard and should fit most chairs. This writing desk is quite sturdy and in overall very good condition. There are two cosmetic age splits on the back corners(see pictures) These are a naturally occurring phenomenon that do not affect the structural integrity of the desk. The four tapered legs of the desk are beautifully decorated and end in brass casters. This desk has plenty of rustic charm and would make a lovely addition to any home or office. The two drawers open and close very easily. Looks great from the side! Both drawers are constructed with dovetailed joints. There are two brass pulls on each drawer. This stunning old table features intricate carved designs with strong French or Italian influences. The table has graceful lines and curves. The table has been painted white(somewhat distressed"whitewashed" finish) with gold gilt accenting on the table rim and on the carved features. The carvings are numerous with acanthus leaves and shell pattern on the front apron of the table with an open/pierced carved design. The back legs have large acanthus leaf accents. The feet have a carved"talon and ball" or claw and ball design. The two front legs feature exquisitely carved birds, one on each upper leg. The birds have wonderful detail with cross hatched feathers and intricate eyes and beaks. STUNNING! The bottom ... morestretcher features a center acanthus leaf shell with an incised cross. The table is in very good condition with some signs of use. It is quite sturdy(but not terribly heavy) and does not wobble. There is some chipped paint on the top as well as some condensation marks from glasses being placed on the top with no coasters. These are not terribly distracting and are somewhat faint in nature. The table top could be painted quite easily to match the existing white color if you do not care for the"character marks" This is a beautiful table with exceptional detailing. This auction is for a super neat and pretty Painted Insert or Panel on a Mahogany Table with beautiful carved legs from Scotland. Painted furniture is new to me. We seldom buy or even try to get it. But this table just caught my eye and I had to get it. The legs are beautifully carved on two quarters on each leg and each have wonderful"victorian" style feet. The apron under tha table top is Solid Mahogany with a very pretty wavy cut on all four side. The stretcher base has the"wishbone" design on each end and is connected with a solid mahogany stretcher and Get This, each"wishbone" and the stretcher are all"beveled" The top is"beveled" all the way around. It's one of not only the prettiest tables I have seen in a while, but it's extremely well made, Solid& Stable to boot. It would make a Great smaller coffee table and would also Look Superb in your sun room or covered porch. It could also serve as a side or end table and would look good with a sectional type couch. For Sure, you would want it to be seen by everyone. The table is solid mahogany except for the painted area. It is a veneer that has been inset into the top. The painted area is what I would call slightly distressed, not over done to where the wood shows through, but enough to give it a nice look. My wife said, if she were to keep it, she would have a glass top cut to cover the top. Any local glass shop could do this and it would surprise you at how little it would cost. One thing is for sure, It's the Only One Like It, It's a True One-Of-The-Kind. The table is 28 7/8" X 19 1/4" and 21 3/4" tall. It will have some light blemishes to the finish(light or dark spots or marks) nicks. ANTIQUE HAND PAINTED FRENCH LADY SHEEP VERNIS MARTIN STACKING NESTING TABLE SET
This is an old early 1900s I think but may be older set of 3 stacking tables from an estate. All together they are 27" tall and top table is 18 1/2" by 14 1/2" The top has a hand painted scene of a shepard and his sheep. The top table has seen the most use and could be made more beautiful by a person who has furniture knowledge. It has numerous dark spots that furniture polish did not effect and a 3" and 1" scratch and other smaller scuff marks. These dark spots may of been caused by heat as a guesse on my part as I really do not know. An artist could touch up the scratches. The top is in used as is condition. The center table is 16" by 13" and has a French lady in a pastorial setting with house in background. It has a 1/2" possible burn hole? It has normal vintage wear. The next table is 14" by ... more11 1/4" and features a dancing French young man. It has a top left corner chip and two small dark spots on left edge. It has normal wear. The rail that goes horizontal on the base to hold the tables in place has a 7/8" long scrape to the wood. See photo. This set has been used but still displays nicely. I loved them enough to buy them. Cottage Chic Vintage Drop Leaf Side End Table This 1950s side table is the perfect size to use next to a chair or between two chairs since it is chair height. Hand painted in Lotus Leaf that is a blue with touch of green/gray. Aged, shabbily distressed and hand waxed. Opened makes a perfect game/card table between the chairs and would be great for a small space as it can serve many purposes. Can also be used as a nightstand for a lower bed(some are so high these days you need a ladder) Being a vintage piece. There are two thin age cracks in the top I didn't fill as that just added to the character and inspired me to shabby it. The flowers range in color from red, pink, purple and blue. There are definite, artist brush strokes of contrasting highlights and shadowing.
