Four separate stacks with this bookcase-a graduated unit with 3 different sizes. Note the top unit has a leaded glass door. Original labels on the interior and nice leopard bands on the sides. Super finish which is smooth and even. The interior height of the units is 13.5. 11.5, and two which are 9.5. The overall size of the piece is 34 wide, 12 deep, and 57.5 high. I don't think you will find a nicer four stack unit. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Ladies and Gentleman for those of you who are Globe Wernicke® Macey stack barrister legal bookcase collectors, restorers and fans these are EXACTLY what you need to finish detailing your bookcase units. I have spent endless hours locating a source for these knobs. This auction is for 2(two) AGED/BURNISHED) base knobs. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. If you want the knobs polished it is an additional please see the other ad. I have had many calls for these base knobs in the past and they went for high prices to discriminating restorers as the only source was robbing original bases for these knobs. DO NOT BE FOOLED! Still displays well. Macey bookcases have an interesting history. Otto Wernicke of Grand Rapids patented the original elastic bookcase around 1892 and produced them in his own plant under the Wernicke name until around 1902. That's when he formed a partnership with Globe in Cincinnati and bookcases using his patent were produced under the Globe-Wernicke label. However, Wernicke was not happy with arrangement so he went back to Grand Rapids and purchased the factory owned by Fred Macey in 1905 calling it the Macey-Wernicke Co which was shortened to just Macey in 1907. Michigan in the early 1900s. This 4 stack bookcase is in Original finish Mahogany and is designed in the Queen Anne Style with broken arch top and pad/slipper foot on cabriolet legs. The two bottom sections meaure 11 inches tall, the two top sections measure 9 inches tall. The Bookcase measures 69-3/4 inches tall overall when fully assembled. Antique 3 Section Stacking Lawyer's Barrister Bookcase
Lawyer's or Barrister's stacking sectional glass-front bookcase from the early part of the 1900's. Dark wood exterior. That I believe was refinished about 20 years ago. The interiors are natural(light) wood. The wood and finish are in very nice condition. All of the glass doors operate correctly, and serve to keep valuable books clean and dust-free. There are no water rings or other marks in the wood. Bookcase is comprised of 5 pieces; a base unit that stands approximately 9 inches from the floor. One tall bookcase section that is 14.25 inches tall, and two regular bookcase sections that are 10.50 inches tall. The fifth piece is a decorative top cap that finishes off the unit. The bookcase was made in the U.S. by F.E. Hale Manufacturing in Herkimer New York, sometime after 1907. Hale Manufacturing is still in business today making ... morebookcases, in Frankfort NY. The bookcase sections still retain the original manufacturer's label. The assembled bookcase stands 46.50 inches tall. 34 inches wide, and the bookcase sections are about 11 inches deep, while the base and top cap are about 12 inches deep. Rockwell-Wabash Barrister Bookcase Section Very nice find. Rockwell-Wabash stuff never shows up. Measures out the same as an"E" size Globe Wernicke or Macey. Original finish. Has the step back board, compatible with"E" or"D" size stacks. Quarter sawn oak. Uses a hinge/slide system nearly identical to the early Globe system. NO door knob or glass. With a few bottom parts this would drop right onto a Globe or Macey base. As you can see in the last picture a Globe top(or section) fits nicely on top. The Globe top in the picture is NOT included. The bottom board has been broken then nailed back on backwards, it looks bad like it is but simply needs to be flipped and glued. Missing one side, the back and bottom, one of the drawer pulls is bent. The two side pieces have some rot on the bottom which could be trimmed down.
