~ Beautiful Antique Tiger Oak 5 Leg Dining Table w/1 Leaf ~ Up for your viewing is an awesome tiger oak dining table that I purchased from an estate auction about a year ago. I actually purchased two tables. One was round(which I already sold) and this one. They both had been stored in I believe an attic, for they were very dusty and dirty due to being stored for many years. This table appears to have quite a few layers of varnish or stain on it and when they stored it I believe they put a vinyl table cloth on it, the kind with the cotton or felt like lining and through the years of heat and the layers of varnish it has on it the lining somewhat stuck to the top of the table. When I went to clean it up the fuzzy stuff would not come off no matter what I did so we thought we would try a spot with some paint stripper and it come off. That is ... morewhy the spot is on the top. My intentions then was to strip it off and restain it but never had the time to do it and hated to see this beautiful table sit around and need the space so I am selling it as it is. As you can see on the spot that we stripped under all the varnish that was on it the grain is beautiful and on the leaf, it is the natural color. This table is on wheels except for the center one is missing. But I should have one somewhere around here that I will put on it if I do. Also there is a piece of wood that is off on one of the legs as shown in the pictures. Other than that it is very nice. Once it is restained or whatever one wants to go about finishing the top it will look awesome. The table measures 42" square x 30" tall without the leaf and 25-1/2" from the ground to the bottom of the table. The leaf is approx. 12" wide. I have provided several pictures to view. Please view them carefully and ask any questions prior to bidding or purchasing. I will be happy to answer them the best I can. Heywood Wakefield 1900's Table Maple Wood drop leaf -Opens 2 1/2 to 7 ft.
This antique table is from the early 1900's possibly as far back as the late 1800's. It is heavy solid Maple and in VERY good shape. I would almost call it excellent considering it is over 100 yrs. old. It is original and there is some slight change of color which could be age related. The table is so beautiful and smooth and is a warm golden color. Is has 3 sizes(The table is always 3 1/2 ft. W) The smallest size that you see in the picture with the table cloth on it and the leaves down is 2 1/2 ft. long. With the leaves in the UP position it is a little over 5 ft. long and with the 2 extra leaves installed in the middle it is 7 ft long. So you can see it is a very versatile table. This offer is for a duncan phyfe drop leaf table. The table has the metal claw feet and a drawer on one end. The table is in good condition and is available for local pickup only at my antiques shop in Thorsby.The table measures 17 1/2 inches by 36 inches with the drop leafs down. With the leafs raised. The table measures 36 inches by 44 inches. The finish on the table top is very good except for slight wear to one corner of one leaf that I have tried to capture with the pictures. The lighting makes some of the pictures appear as if there are spots in the finish but this is from the lighting- it is not the finish. It is fine to see the table at my shop prior to purchase. So. Let me just start out by saying that yes, this is an antique game table but it has been reworked over the years to what it is now. First of all, the basic table has square nails in it so it may well be older than the date listed up in the category. The leaves were most likely added. You can see underneath where once there were some modern brackets and of course the metal feet are modern as is the porcelain nob. The crackly finish is probably enhanced too. The bottom of the drawer is chamfered, attesting to its older origin. All of these details whether older or newer make for a great looking game table that does not take up lots of room and even less when the leaves are dropped. Overall dimensions are as such: 27 3/4" tall, 18 1/2" deep, 25 1/4" wide with the leaves dropped and 38 3/4" with the leaves extended.
