Cast iron stool appears to have its original dark green paint with black and gold highlights(see photos) The design of the cast iron work appears to have some Eastlake pierced open work grill design. In addition to the ornate Victorian drape effect of oak leaves and the scrollwork feet, and the flowing/swirling Art Nouveau oak leaf and vine designs. Appears to have original pine or soft wood cover top. With is covered with the original straw– the straw covered with remnants of original jute material. The jute is covered with a 1930s era cloth material. And covering this material is a worn dark forest green velvet. The wood stool top is easily recoverable if new owner should so desire. Heavy piece– weights about 16 pounds. Markings: impressed numbers“25” and“5” on underside of stool. Impressed into cast iron. The simple Bedouim camel saddle frame made out of wood and rawhide with a leather pad on top. The metal used on these saddles is for decoration purposes only. Bedouin camel saddles like this are made by the family members. The saddle is a simple wood frame which rests on a canvas saddle blanket to protect the camel. This saddle. Which shows some age-wear, would add a dash of worldliness to any elegant home. It can be used as accent piece, but if you want it for utility and don't happen to have a camel at home, it will serve as a wonderful foot stool. By at least 1200 BC, the first camel saddles had appeared, and Bactrian camels could be ridden. The first Arabian ... moresaddle was put way to the back of the camel, and control of the Bactrian camel was exercised by means of a stick. However, between 500& 100 BC, Bactrian camels attained military use. New saddles, which were inflexible and bent, were put over the humps and divided the rider's weight over the animal. In the seventh century BC, the military Arabian saddle appeared which improved the saddle design again. Armies have also used camels as freight animals instead of horses and mules. The United States Army established the U.S. Camel Corps, which was stationed in California in the late 19th century. Though the experimental use of camels was seen as a success(John B. Post 1950 Vintage Camel Back Footstool Ottoman Silver Leather CushionYugoslavia
Unique Seat! For your consideration. This unique handcrafted camel back footstool or ottoman made in Yugoslavia. The unknown craftsman used leather thongs to tie the parts together and they are still in place and sturdy today. The finish is still in good shape and the veneer is loose on one side but an easy repair with a little glue. The cushion is made of red leather sprayed silver and it is quite heavy and hard. It is stuffed with a dense wool like material. Probably wool or horse hair and tied up neatly with matching thongs. The piping has come loose on both sides and the cushion is crackled in place s. Both colors are rubbed of in some areas on the bottom of the cushion to reveal the brown of the material covering the cushion. This stool has metal(probably brass) covers on the two wooden arches. They have an interesting design featuring ... morea camel in front of 2 pyramid s. see picture) so this is a clue as to the maker. The wooden planks that form the body of the stool have Made in Yugoslavia printed on them. The white you see in the picture is just cornstarch which I used to bring out the lettering so it could be read and it will wipe right off. This stool measures approximately 21" long. 14" wide, and stands about 16" high. It is unique and fun. An excellent choice to add to your collection of unusual items. An Awesome Find!

Here is a COOL Footstool or kiddie stool. I sat on this when I was a kid, sort of 50 odd years ago. I had it recovered about 25 years ago, the frame is in good condition for the age, the rawhide that holds it together is hard and makes the stool a little shaky from side to side.
