This pair of old shelf brackets are 8" by 10" by 1" wide. Each has 6 holes for mounting. Their black japanned finish is worn. And where the metal is exposed, it is rusty. There is also some old paint on them They are made of stamped steel. These brackets match, but only one is marked. It has the Stanley Sweetheart logo. Based on their style, finish, and construction, these brackets were probably made in the 1920s or 1930s. These brackets have a simple design that is both functional and graceful.

Here is an amazing lot of 4 beautifully ornate cast iron shelf brackets that are each two pieces- they are reversible so you can fit them into the wall brackets both ways. I sell a lot of this kind of stuff and this lot of stuff is the best I have ever had. They and an 1886 patent date. The"smaller" still large) brackets are 16" x 8" and the larger brackets are 21" x 9" and the vertical pieces that screw to the wall are 24" long. they have multiple notches so you can adjust the shelf up and down- really great. It gets even better if you like provenance- these were screwed to a wall of a hardware store in the 1890s and just unscrewed from the same building this week. For your review I am offering a Victorian Gothic wall bracket fabricated of spelter or"pot metal" Excellent condition overall. I can't tell if the skull on the"coat of arms" had horns and they were broken off or it was made this way. Either way it looks fine and there is no damage to speak of. Very solid. Measures 10.25" tall, 7.35" wide, and 5.75" deep. Very clean, no corrosion, nice original finish. This piece is very much in the round in that it has presence from all angles with the finial at the bottom sculpted on all sides.

The depth with the top shelf support is 9" and the depth of the smaller dowel holder is 6-1/4" There is an extra hole near the base of the dowel holder. So it might have held something else as well. They didn’t know if this was used as a coat rod or a foot rest at a large deposit slip table. I lean towards the foot rest because of no hanger marks. This is in good condition with the normal dings and scratches but brass will polish up superbly if that’s the look you prefer. The one attachment end is stuck on and I left it that way because it would be in that position anyway for instillation. If it to long for your project you could always cut it to the size you need. This is about 61 ¾” long x about 1 ½” in diameter. I would guess this is from the early 1900s but surly no later than the 1940s. The shipping is high because of the weight and the size box that must be used but I’d have no problem if you wanted to pick it up to save on the shipping cost. I believe these were used to hang overhead track from I-beams. The main frame components and clamps are cast iron and the bolts and drop rod are steel. It will fit beams 4" to 8" wide.
