This came off a farm in upstate PA. base was just inserted into a hole boared into a 12 x 12 on the side of an old barn. There are no mounting holes in ot for bolts. It is rusty. Looks hand made.

A lightly textured antique with light rust that was hand forged by a blacksmith. I use these on barn doors as a pull handle. This is the biggest and nicest one of these old hitching rings that I have ever come across. It is a magnificent big one. The ring is a hair over 7" in diameter. And the ring stock is about 1" Overall length of the ring and post is 15 1/2" It weighs a little over 6lbs. It is in super nice condition with a nice finish. It has been lightly brushed of any loose surface rust and oiled. The construction is early and primitive, with the blacksmith's lap joints clearly visible and prominent. unbelievable piece that looks way nicer"in hand" than in the pictures. This iron hitching post top has an inner diameter of 4" There appears to be the number 1 cast into the iron on the inside. The ring has been bent out of round from use and there is some pitting of the iron although it has been cleaned and repainted and is ready for use. Please see photos thank you.
