Floral Victorian/ Nouveau/ Deco Era Cast Iron Curtain Tie Back Brackets
This auction is for a pair of decorative floral tie back/ brackets. They are made of cast iron with bent metal wall brackets. The design depicts a lyre shape with a central flower; reminiscent of Victorian/ Nouveau/ or Deco eras. The cast iron piece itself is stamped: 1094" although there is no maker mark. The floral decorative part of these brackets measure: 2 1/2" x 5" ISSUES: Although originally black with gilt; some of the paint has worn away and so there are dull unpainted spots in addition to some superficial rust spots. Although the rust areas; aren't glaring. you may wish to spruce them up. The decorative cast iron piece is held on to the bracket with a screw between two tabs and I think it would be easy enough to unscrew them; scrub them with a wire brush. Give them a coat of black paint and embellish with paint ... moreto suit your own palette. These items do not smell of smoke. Mildew, must, mothballs or have pet odor. Welcome to our personal estate sale. Time to part with this- a wonderful old piece of cast iron art. A shelf in an oak leaf and acorn pattern- it comes apart for shipping. The bottom support rests in a slot. But some former owner didn't think that was secure enough, so they drilled a hole and fitted it with a screw and washer to make it more secure. Does not show. No damage or repairs to this piece. It's one of my favorite pieces, but we gotta downsize! Lots more interesting stuff coming up for sale.
