Huge Antique Architectural Hand Forged Iron Brackets 24" by 22" Set of 3
For your consideration is this wonderful old set of three hand forged iron brackets from the turn of the century. Mostly in rust, with some green paint as shown. The brackets were once used to hang street lamps, and are all hand blacksmithed, no welds, all hand riveted. These brackets measure 24" across by 22" long and are made with heavy iron 3/8" thick by 2" wide across the top and the scroll work is 1 1/2" wide. The holes for mounting are 9/16" and the brackets are in great condition, no damage. They weigh 15# each, so would be sturdy enoughto hold up about anything. This is a set of super cool looking brackets or hooks. I haven't figured out exactly what they are! To me they look like something that came from a train in the old days.or an old fancy hotel? Notice the great ornate details of flowers and swirls. These look like brackets but when placed against the wall the shelf isn't flat.it is tilted. So maybe these were used on a wall with an angle. Or maybe they are hooks to be attached to a shelf.but the parts that curve up like hooks have holes in them as if to attache with screws to a wall. If anyone has any ideas or knowledge of these. Lot of 2 Antique CAST IRON Architectural Brackets-Corners w ACORNS & OAK LEAVES
2 antique Cast Iron corner brackets-braces decorated with Acorns and Oak Leaves. They are the same pattern and design. But one has slightly different mounting holes. The red-rusty one is also has a broken leaf. But its not readily noticible(look at the pics-its hard to notice) Each one is 13" long on each flat bracket side. One is almost completely red with rust. That one is the damaged one and the other has more of a natural greenish patina color to it. Neither of these appear to have been painted. These are solid cast iron and very heavy. You get exactly what is shown in the photos. New owner will be responsible for cleaning. Painting, repairing as desired. Still quite useful as brackets. They have screw holes to mount to wall but not to anything that would sit on top. They would look very nice holding up a piece of glass or old barn wood for a wall table. HEAR YE. HEAR YE! WE ARE NOW EMPTYING THE BARN* Architectural salvage 1917 Pasadena CA ANTIQUE drapery rod brackets/6” acorn finials rings– redwood? I’ve gone through most of the stuff from the attic so it is time to move on to the boxes in the barn… Got the ladder out and at the VERY top of the wall shelf found 13(12” see photos) curtain/drapery rod brackets. 7 acorn/pineapple(large- 6” finials, and 9(2” with 3(3.5” wood curtain rings. If you examine the pictures, you will see a close-up of an additional broken ring that makes me think these are all redwood. Some of the rings are still attached to material. These were not covered and were extremely dusty– blew them off with compressor air but they need to be cleaned up a bit before you can repaint them. Back in the early days. California home builders(especially high end in the San Marino/Pasadena ... morearea) used redwood since the hungry termites passed it up for softer wood. Because of the excellent vintage– antique– condition of these. It certainly makes sense that they are all redwood(but I am not a wood officinal) If you have a project, or six windows that are just SREAMING for a makeover with the real deal, here is your chance. If you plan on building a home in the future, don’t pass these by– they don’t make these like this anymore– bid away!
