Solid mahogany tilt top is wavy from the age which is very typical. There is some minor wear in center of the top that takes away nothing. Fabulous carved acanthus leaf on pedestal terminating in extravagant paw feet in gold gilt paint. You will love this piece. Prince George(Prince of Wales) was Regent from 1811– 1820 but Regency became a convenient name for the first 30 years of the 19th Century. Regency furniture was the neoclassical antique style mixed with empire style and the later Georgian style of furniture. Elaborate and ornate. Antiques from Greece, Rome and Egypt were a source of inspiration for furniture designers, attempts were made to make actual copies of ancient furniture and there was even a vogue to copy some of the stone furniture, producing them in mahogany. The regency style of furniture carried on through the William IVs reign, but introduced a few more curves and some elegant decoration. Antique Regency furniture was plain. Slender and elegant. Brass was used for decoration, rosewood and zebrawood veneers were used for a striking look. Mahogany was still the wood of choice for most furniture makers. French polishing came into vogue around 1810 and allowed for smoother shinier finishes which suited the new elegant pieces. Up for auction is a lovely. Well preserved& well cared for, vintage reproduction of a Chippendale style Tilt Top Table, also called a Candle Stand. I believe the top to be made from a solid piece of Tiger Maple; no veneer. I admit that I am not an expert in woods, though. There are no scratches or mars anywhere to my eyes on the table top portion of the table. The circumference is edged in pie crust decorative woodwork. The table is stamped in two different places on the underside with makers mark: 1009. The tilting mechanism on the underside works great and is sturdy. The tripod cabriole legs are heavily carved and are firmly attached to the carved center post of the table.no wobbling. Round top measures 16 1/2 inches. 30 inches high when the top is tilted up. 23 inches tall when table is folded down. Hand painted Geisha woman picking flowers under a cherry blossom tree. This is for a gorgeous tilt table. I am not sure what type of wood it is- Oak? Mahogany? I was told it is over 100 years old. Looks to have all original parts. I was told this was handcrafted. Sturdy. Has original wooden bolt to lock table into upright position. Measures 28" tall and 21" wide. There are 2 minor scratches on the top(see pictures) I have not seen another one like it. Looks like a patchwork quilt on the top.

Vintage 1940's or 1950's tilt top tea table. Manufactured by Weiman furniture out of Rockford. IL. We believe it is Queen Anne style. It is dark wood, however we do not know what kind of wood it is. Generally very good overall condition. However, one of the legs has come loose. Looks like it was originally glued on a peg. Could be re-glued easily. The tips of the legs have a few scuffs as does the top, none of which is real bad. Could be refinished or left as is. Approx 27 inches tall and 26 inches across the top. Very nice table. ANTIQUE MAHOGANY 2-TIER TILT TEA TABLE. Antique 1920-30's two-tier tilt top serving table that can fold flat. Beautiful mahogany wood. Features two table tiers and attached handle for ease of movement. Overall in very nice condition with some wear due to age. The feet each show some wear and one of the rectangular wood pieces protecting a foot on the bottom is missing. This can be seen in the photos. In addition there is a slightly loose joint connecting one leg and the end brace. This table stand approximately 30-1/4" high and 13" deep with the table open and 17-1/2" wide at the base.
