Possibly Edwardian era desk or library table is in excellent condition. I have owned it since 1980 and have not altered the finish. Although it may have been refinished prior to my ownership. This desk is very sturdy. The dimensions are 40" long X 25 1/4" deep X 28 1/4" high. Nice chunky brass hardware is complete and original. This desk is constructed of solid wood.no veneers.which I think is flame mahogany. The dovetailed drawers are constucted of what appears to be bird's eye maple bottoms(which is a very high quality wood to be used on drawer interiors) and oak sides. There is one center drawer and two deeper. More narrow drawers on the right side. Drawers all work smoothly. There is a platform at the lower level of the desk. The four feet are carved animal-type. When you open up the leaves the whole top rotates around on the base so that you turn it 90 degrees and the base of the table suports the leaves. It is in good condition with only minor wear to the finish. It does have some scratches here and there but nothing you would not expect from a vintage piece. It appears to be made from solid oak. But it has a very dark finish and is almost black in appearance. It measures 18 inches tall. The top is 23 1/4 inches by 10 3/4 inches. The leaves measure 9 1/4 inches by 23 1/4 inches. When the table is open it measures almost 30 inches wide and 23 1/4 inches deep. I've tried to take a number of pictures so that you can judge for yourself it's ... morequality and value. Offered from my mother's estate is an Antique Dark Mahogany Oval top Lyre End Side or Lamp Table#277 by Valley Furniture Company of Grand Rapids Michigan. See photos. Dad made a glass insert for the top to prevent damage. It has been in the family for several years before 1950. I am not sure of the exact year. But from that year forward I do know. The dark mahogany finish was never restored since we owned the table. I took detailed pictures for viewing. On the underside there appears to be a few spots where there is overflow from the top, but that may have been done during the early making of this table. The glass insert has been in there since the 60s without spacers. We have never tried to remove it. We will ship it with painters tape can cardboard to prevent damage. Looking at the table through the glass you can't see any scratches, ... morebut with a flash it shows a few of the original scratches that you cant see with the eye. The table measures 25 1/2" tall. 23 3/4" wide and 17 3/4" deep. I try to be as clear as I can be as to condition description. Very sturdy table.
