Pedestal, some feet) c. 1825 and significantly rebuilt in the 20th Century Item# 12001078208 This is a beautiful decorative work. Crafted using old parts to lend originality and age to the table as it was crafted for a second time during the 20th Century. It features a broad solid black and gray marble top, resting over a new mahogany veneered top with pine plywood secondary woods, attaching to the head of the base with screws from beneath. The pedestal itself appears to be of the period, probably c. 1825, a wonderful gesso decorated and gilt highlighted work of art that is wrapped in a bulbous leafed palmetto formation over a ring turned base. This tenons into the triangular Lion Footed mahogany ... moreveneered base. Most of the feet are rebuilt, though after one original foot to maintain the integrity of the design. While this is not a collector quality work. This is an affordable work with significant character and age throughout. An original Gueridon of this style would be prohibitively priced, making this the perfect selection of a decorator with a budget looking for the depth of an original without the cost. Measurements: 36" wide x 29 1/4" high Condition Report: 1. Severely distressed gilt with exposed and damaged gesso on pedestal. 2. Numerous chips to marble top around the edge(all photographed in the slideshow) 3. Composed of old parts. Very beautiful. Mid Century reproduction of the antique William Kent, Georgian, or French Empire, Federal Eagle console or entry table. This amazing table features realistic features and exquisite detailing in a deep relief which replicates hand carving. The table consists of a large eagle with outstetched wings resting on a raised plinth. The eagle has deep patterning and realistic details all in a beautiful gilded finish. The fabulous marble top is black with beautiful white veins. It is mounted on a gorgeous carved frieze with carved, curved details and finished with an egg and dart pattern. The table is probably Italian made. The previous owners lived in Italy for many years and their children indicated that they had it shipped from Italy when they moved. This could be restored to the attractive decorative work it once was- already heavily rebuilt many decades ago using old parts to lend originality and age to the table as it was"reimagined" for a second time during the 20th Century, the table has a rough and attractive appeal that would be lively if you have the skill to regild/inpaint the gesso, repair the veneer dings/chips and strengthen the central pillar with some blocking. Vintage Victorian Style Mahogany Marble Top Side Parlor Table Plant Fern Stand C
This Victorian style marble top table is a reproduction. And was made in the 1940's- 1950's. We currently have three of these stands listed here on e-Bay and I believe that this is the better of the three. This quality piece of furniture has a good look about it. The marble top is Carrara marble from Italy and has a nicely beveled edge around it. It rests upon the mahogany base without being attached to it with hardware. This allows you to lift the marble off of the base, exposing the hollow cavity on the top and base, which you can use for storage of small items. Inside this cavity, the stand is marked"Victorian" with an impressed stamp. The base is beautifully styled and made of mahogany. It has four shapely legs, which have beveled edges and button plugs covering the mounting hardware. The turned central post is vase-like, ... moreand the wooden top has two routered channels encircling the piece, to further enhance its look. The piece measures 18 3/4" tall by 14" wide. The piece is roughly 60 years old and is not"show room perfect" due to normal use and wear over time. It has some bumps and bruises on the mahogany base. Which we have attempted to capture in the last of the close-up photos, as well as some light scratches, staining, and rough spots on the marble top, which we have also attempted to photograph. These small blemishes and minor abrasions do not detract from the piece in any way, rather giving it additional character, if even seen or noticed at all. Beautifully Carved 4 Legged Fern Stand with Round Marble Top. The plant stand. Also known as a fern stand, is made of teak finished in a dark wood stand. There are 4 long cabriole style legs that are heavily carved and secured together near the bottom by intersecting supports. The legs and intersecting supports are carved in a stacked/overlapping acanthus leaf design. The supports finished with a carved rosette at the intersecting point. Near the top between the 4 legs are a web of carved designs. The designs depict a weaving of leaves and vines. Framed on the bottom by a uniquely shaped carved piece of wood, on the sides by the legs, and on the top by a rounded piece of wood. The carvings below the circular top are quite exquisite. There is some wear to this very old piece at this part. Antique intricately carved marble top table--baroque style
This table has been in the family for a long time. The top was covered by the former owner with a kind of heavy plastic protective coating. Which is coming off. Good thing, because it is much more beautiful underneath. You can see in the details of the table top where the plastic is, and what the actual color of the marble is. The plastic has bubbles underneath it, and gives the table top a yellowish cast. It comes off easily, but I left it on, as I used the table for plants under a window. FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE GILTWOOD MARBLE TOP CONSOLE TABLE Early 20th Century Item# 502FKG22 This very attractive French Louis XVI Style marble topped console table was probably crafted during the first quarter of the 20th Century. Possibly earlier. The marble top is absolutely gorgeous, an original and vast slab of Carrara marble with projecting corners and a thin channel carved around the edges. The apron of the table is intricately carved with repeating motifs of floral rosettes set inside an infinite swirling ribbon and over the twisted rope molding along the lower edge. The center of the apron features a wonderful display of sprouting acanthus foliage, the same form employed as returns along the back edge of the frame. The legs are exquisitely carved, the swell of the baluster carved with crisp acanthus leafage over the tapering stop-fluted ... moredesign of the leg and terminating on carved ball toes beneath a square blocked rosette. For anyone passionate about fine French furnishings, this is an absolutely gorgeous classical piece of a style and form that has remained incredibly popular for over two hundred years.
