South Carolina VINTAGE SOLID BUTCHER BLOCK TABLE- SIX LEG- 60" X 30" 12" Thick& 34 3/4" Tall( Legs had extensions added at some point of it's life) This is unrestored and just the way it came out of the store many years ago. I believe it's was made in the 30's or 40's It came out of a Red& White Grocery Store. This is extremely heavy and will require at least 4 strong guys to lift. I will provide two of the guys and you provide the other two. A truck with a lift would make it pretty easy and then maybe 3 guys could do it. This is located in Greenville SC. SIX LEG VINTAGE SOLID MAPLE BUTCHER BLOCK A&P MARKET 1900-1950, America, Brown
An old butcher block originating from one of the. No longer existing, A&P supermarkets(Atlantic&Pacific) The worn'scoop' areas that generally give butcher blocks their character. A bit difficult to see in these photos. And cutting/chopping marks in addition to some staining and chipped/cracked/gauged areas, show that this block was well used. Having six legs. Instead of the four-legged styles normally seen, gives it extra character. It looks as though the legs are removable. But they've never been removed since we've had it so I can't be certain. I was told that this butcher block is made of solid maple; I do not know its weight. I was not able to move it in order to photograph the other side. It is extremely heavy. We had no prepared place when we acquired it so it was moved into our basement, where it remains ... moreto this day. The two, really big guys who moved it had a very hard time with it. Instead of two, I would highly recommend at least four, really strong guys to move this. Block alone measures approximately 51 ½" x 11 ¼" x 36" With legs the height is approx. 29 ¾" The legs alone are approx. 18" H. I have NOT maintained this block in any way since its acquisition; no sanding. Oiling/finishing, repairs/filling or any other sort of maintenance have been done by me. Sold as-is and as seen in these photos. Serious buyers are strongly encouraged to come and take a look at this butcher block in advance. Arrangements can be made upon request.
