This was an essential tool on the ol d farm. It hung on the wall on the barn. And handy to grab to carry a bale of hay to the feed bin, or to pull a log into place for the saw mill. This one has a wooden handle and bend in the shaft to act as a hand guard to protect the fingers. The cast iron hook is a big one, and still strong. These were also used as meat hooks during butchering. People today often hang them from an overhead beam to support hanging plants. Color: unfinished wood and metal. Black with age.
