FATIGUED FRENCH FINDS fatiguedfrenchfinds This is a fabulous and large antique French 19th century double bronze inkwell. Very much in the Rococo style. ... moreWith delicious scrolling curves of acanthus leaf, shells, dolphins heads, putti, etc. which have been generously cast into the design. There is also a section at the top for holding the pen. It measures 34cms or 13& 3/8" by 14cms or 5½" and it stands 10cms or just short of 4" at the upstand. This item does need repair to the lid on the left hand side as you look at it. The pin which acts as a hinge to the lid has broken off. It will want removing from the fixing of both the lid and the inkwell and another one inserting. Additionally. The little finial has a broken screw, which will need replacing in order to re-fix the finial to the lid– please see photographs. Apart from the repair to the lid and a good polish this is a beautiful and large bronze inkwell. It has the foundry model number stamped on the base. Sold in its found state: a beautiful antique French bronze inkwell. If you have any question about the item or the postage please contact us prior to purchasing. A vintage French curtain hold back or tie back dating from around the 1920’s. Made from bronze with gilt detail on the ornate wall bracket and end plate which features a classic rose and bow design. On the wall bracket there is a screw hole to attach the hold back to the wall. or alternatively on the back of the bracket is a small hanger through which can be threaded a hook already attached to the wall Previously very encrusted and green with age this has been cleaned by soaking in a salt and lemon juice solution to bring back the detail in the design. Whcih I am certain is bronze, it's got great weight and I believe dates from the early 1900's, it's beautifully decorated as the photos show. It is stamped to the rear with TD 5202. Although this is quite difficult to read. Through the passage of time it's aged wonderfully and now has the odd hint of verdi gris and has tarnished giving that magnificent aged look that only the passage of time can give. I have left it just as I found it but it would polish or paint if required.
