Early 1900's Large Leather Doctor's Bag Key Lock 3 Latches w/ Key
Very Nice Cowhide inside and out. Beige or white Leather inside. Black outside. Has a key lock and two spring latches, very secure. Key works, Has reinforced corners, Hinge allows bag to latch in the open position, works well. Measures 16" long by 9" wide by 12" tall. Heavy, weighs about 5lbs. Inside has two pockets made of leather. Brass plating on latches is worn, a couple of spots where the outside leather is worn, no holes, Handle has black tape on it. Handle is also leather. Other wear commensurate with use and age but altogether, Very nice example, marked on the bottom, can't read all the lettering, see photo. No name or maker's name seen. Antique Brass Lock Set from a Store Front Door 14" x 3" Plate with Thumb Latches
This is a really old lock set from the front door of the store I bought 8 years ago. I think it is from the 1930's early 40's. I believe the handle and outside plates are solid bronze or possibly brass? Sorry I don't know for sure. I am guessing bronze. They have a wonderful patina that makes them look like copper. But I don't see any green tarnish. They need to be cleaned. The lock mechanism is steel with a brass or bronze plate. Everything is here except the screws and the key but I will look for the key later in another location and see if I can't find it. If I can, I will certainly add it in. The thumb tabs seem to work and were working when I bought the place but the entire set is used and aged. The tab or part that moves into the wall to latch the door is not sharp anymore, but rounded from years of use. This cassette case is in very good condition for its age. It seems to be made out of a leather type of material. Inside there is a felt-like material covering the inside of the case. There is some slight rusting on the locks but this is probably due to age. The lock latches are functional and I was able to close and secure the latches without any problems. There might also be some indentions on the case due to the material of the case. Please note: All these cassettes are UNTESTED however each cassette looks to be in very good condition. TWO SKELETON KEY HOLE COVERS The larger key hole cover has been painted white and is 3 3/4" in height and 2" wide. The swinging cover piece is 2" long. The smaller key hole cover needs a good polishing. it measures 2 1/2" by 1" The swinging cover is 2 1/4" long. The back plate is a polished chrome type metal but the swinging cover may be polished chrome or even silver. I can not tell for sure. It will be lovely polished up what ever it is. Both are in good working condition.
