the handles are missing. but it's not really going to be used to hold stuff anyway look carefully at the images. I'm sure you know some. or about all of the people inside. would certainly make an interesting centerpiece. maybe cut some glass or plexiglass to fit inside as a table, then close the lid and use the top as a table when kids come over the cutouts inside are old. some are ripped. Vintage Moderoma "Modern Hope Chest" with Tray
This is a beautiful chest dubbed the"Modern Hope Chest" for its day by the Franklin Shockey Company in North Carolina. I believe it was made in the 50's. As you can see from the photo the wood is beautifully done. I have seen one other but it did not have the shelf. They are designed to be waterproof and have a small compartment in the middle of the shelf for mothballs or other moth deterants. The interior is pristine and looks like it was never or barely used. The exterior is in great condition for its age with just a few nicks and one small piece of the stripe veneer missing. The trunk is 3' 5" long and 1' 4" wide. It stands 20" tall and 17" deep. Lane Antique Vintage Art Deco Cedar Hope Blanket Chest
Original antique/vintage art deco Lane Cedar Chest. This has been in our family since 1947. It is Style# 2120. Serial# 641260. According to the Lane website, date of manufacture is coded in the serial# just reverse the numbers. So this chest was manufactured on 06/21/46. It measures approximately 48" long x 18" wide x 18" high. I have included several pictures so you can see the overall condition. There are a lot of light scratches on the lid(nothing deep) and a few more on the front and sides. There are also several small patches where the veneer has come off on the edges and one section where one of my children drew a couple of small pictures. I am not an expert on restoration. But I would think that these veneer sections could be repaired. The interior is in very good condition- no chips or scratches anywhere on the cedar ... moreplanks and the felt is intact and complete. The lid opens smoothly and closes completely. The legs are solid and are also intact. At one point. The Lane Company did issue a recall on the locks/latches of these chests so the lock will be removed. They are offering free lock replacement kits that can be acquired by calling their toll-free number. Considering this chest is close to 70 years old. And all of the moves it has gone through, it is in overall solid, good condition with a lot of use left in it. All sales are final. So please ask any questions before bidding. Appearances aside. This is still a great cedar hope chest by Lane. I believe it is from the 1940's. It measures 46" x 18" x 21"high. The pictures tell the story. But I will point out the issues. The Bad: Lock is missing. Veneer is scratched and chipped away in spots. The inside shelf is broken. One corner has separated and was badly repaired. The Good: It smells amazing. The back is pretty perfect. It's got great bones. The inside shelf has most of the working parts to get started on that repair. It will be a wonderful piece when it is restored to its former glory. vintage cedar lined hope chest/blanket box - 1900-1950, American, dark wood
This vintage hope chest/blanket box has been in my family for over fifty years. It was given to my mother by an elderly friend in 1963. The exterior is a dark wood matte finish(it needs serious polishing to bring it back) Perhaps cherry, with a cedar interior. It has club feet and is meant to be set against a wall or at the foot of a bed. There are normal signs of wear and tear, which is normal for a piece of furniture in use for over half a century. I have sold my house- so this piece is now in a temperature controlled storage unit. Item has damaged veneer across the front. Vintage Rare Blonde 1962 LANE CEDAR HOPE/Blanket CHEST
This is a Mid Century Modern style hope/blanket chest- mfg. date june 14 1962. this chest is in very good condition considering its age. Has a few minor spots on the outside but the inside is near mint condition. There is definitely nothing wrong with it, nothing that would make you say damn after you bought it. Due to safety regulations the lock or latch mechanism has been removed. It measures 43 1/4" long 16 3/4" wide and 19" in height. If pickup is possible it would be great, if not we will work out the details and how you would prefer to have it shipped. Cavalier VINTAGE pedestal style cedar hope chest with drawer at the bottom
This is an awesome vintage piece of furniture. It is a Cavalier cedar hope chest. It is pedestal style and stands off the ground. It has a bottom drawer. I have never seen one like this. There is no key. On the back it has a stamp that says chest and the best I can make out the numbers one set is 513 8609. But I cannot make out the second stamped set. This is absolutely beautiful and would be great for anyone that collects antiques and vintage items. There is the original paper on the inside of the lid that tells what it is and all about the wood that was used in making the item. This item is in really good condition given its apparent age. The inside looks like brand new. The lid on the front corner does have a chip taken out of it. Other than that there is some minor scratches that comes along with the age of the piece.
