Vintage steamer/military foot locker trunk- Samson
You are viewing a vintage. Steam/military, foot locker trunk. It is in a military olive green color and has brass clamp over latches on the front with a locking center latch. The latch will close but is loose and I have no key. There is a leather handle underneath the center latch.It has metal side handles and is trimmed around all of the edges with metal attached by metal brads. The metal trim is in black with the corners in a brass. There is patina around the brass latches and the corners. The trunk is a painted wood and has 3 ornate hinges on the back top lid. There is a double compartment wood insert that sits on the inside wood corners and the bottom and top inside has a paper lining but the lining has aged and some has flaked off. There are no cracks in the bottom or the insert. There is a bubbled wood area on the front right side about ... more10" long and about an1" to 2" wide. Slight scruffing is on the bottom from use. There is also a manufacture sticker above the front latch that reads SAMSON- Shwayder Bros. Inc. Denver- Detroit. I think this trunk is from the 1930s-40s and was used as a military trunk possibly although there are no military insigna located on it anywhere. But the side handles being metal and the military olive green is consistant with military items. I know that Shwayder Bros. operated in the 1930s-1939 and Samson later became Samsonite in 1965. The trunk measures 16"x12 1/4" x 30" It weighs approximately 21 lbs. It is a nice old trunk and would look great if just cleaned up and even better if restored. if you have any questions please contact me. This Huge Vintage truck measures 40"x23"x 25" and has a dark military green finish. The base is made from metal and the sides are wood wrapped in leather. I have seen these used as storage trunks as well as coffee tables in the past. It could also double as a Cedar chest or window seat. The outside has that natural distressed look that is sought after these days. The hinges and latches all work and the key and lock mechanism has been removed previously. The trunk is complete with front leather handle(very worn) and is missing the single side handle. The lock has since been removed. The inside top compartment tray is in good shape. VINTAGE MILITARY TRUNK MILITARY TRUNK FROM 1940'S & 50'S NICE
Had the trunk appraised at $3000. Did research and think the Colonel B.A. Reeve was in WW11 and Korean wars. There is a tag on the side that is an agency and has his flight from New York to Maxwell AFB. What I can read from the tags date is 1951. Rust and has a dented corner. Latches work great. Missing insert and leather handles or broken. All original the way it was when I found it. I am very honored to have own it.

Very old all wood 1942 vintage trunk. I believe it is actually a WW2 Shwayder Brothers. Inc. 1942 U.S. MILITARY WOOD FOOT LOCKER. It has lost most of the paint and someone has put vintage superheroes stickers all over it many. Many years ago. All the hardware is metal including the latches, corners and all the ends. One corner piece is missing. The handles on the sides are wood. All the hinges and latches work. Inside lid reads Shwayder Bros Inc 1942. If you look closely at the pictures of the lid you can see there is also some stencil letter writing. I can not make out what it says but it appears to have originally taken up almost the entire lid. SMALL SQUARE VINTAGE WOODEN CUBE TRUNK MILITARY LOCKER W/ METAL STRAPPING
Please scroll down under this description for additional views. Small cube-shaped trunk. 12" high, 13" across the lid, 12" front to back. Made of plywood with silver colored metal strapping on all edges, strap style hinges, handles on the sides and two closures on the front. I am not sure about those two metal strap pieces mounted vertically on the front unless this was a means secure the trunk onto a vehicle. Inside is painted a dark Army green and the outside is painted flat black. This would be fun to repaint or even to wallpaper and clean up the metal hardware. It's a nice size to use in your home- you can keep any number of things inside and it's a nice accent as a table, footstool or extra seating. It is really solidly made and weighs about 13 pounds. Black green color 1969 vintage army/military trunk. Vietnam War era. Measures approx. 18.25" h x 23" l x 14"w. Lid and corners trimmed in heavy duty metal. Still locks well with 2 metal locks on each side, 2 metal handles(one on either end) Has nice signs of wear(not too shiny, not too beat up) in good condition. No holes or major dents. As pictured.
