Antique Tea Cart with removable glass tray, nice old family piece
Here is a very nice antique tea cart(trolly) Purchased by my great-great aunt in Minneapolis many years ago. It has been in the family ever since- sad to see it go after this many generations. The inlay work is quite nice all along the top, the edges of the tray(see picture 5) along the legs, and even the wheel spokes and rims. It was taken outside only for the photos. I have seen one listed that is EXTREMELY similar. And that one is described as a 19th century English piece. I have no idea in what country my cart may have been made, nor when, nor what style this represents. There is no maker label. A Google search for"antique tea cart" is not all that helpful given the quantity of these made. I would appreciate any info anyone might have and would be happy to post questions and answers. CONDITION: Generally very good and solid. ... moreAs mentioned above. There are scuffs on the cart, some on the wheels and some along the edged- see photos. The wheel hardware is all present and I suspect is original. There was a repair made to the bottom that is not visible from the top(picture 7) it is a solid fix. The final two pictures show the scratch on the top of the cart, which would of course be below the glass tray. The scratch is not deep, just long. The outer lower edge of the front right leg is more scuffed than the others. Many of the points where wood is connected show evidence of very old glue- I cannot tell if it is the original construction or a later rebuilding. There is a slight gap between one of the legs and the bottom panel only noticeably when you look very closely(as I just did to make sure my description was as accurate as possible) The cart definitely feels solid despite any repairs. One of the wooden strips that are tacked into the bottom of the tray(and serve to hold the glass in place) is slightly loose and might require larger tacks to firm it up, but I am not going to attempt any repairs. Vintage Maple Rolling Drop Leaf Tea Cart With Drop Handle And Wooden Wheels
This listing is for a very neat solid maple rolling tea cart. There is no makers mark on it. Drop leaf design. A leaf folds out on each side. The drop handle either hangs or folds up for pushing the cart. It has latches to keep it in place. The back wheels are wonderful.they're solid wood with a rubber piece along the outside. They actually have a wooden peg holding them on! The front wheels are regular castors. The wheels are squeaky but probably just need oiling. The top does need some minor refinishing as can be seen in the pictures. The flaws are just surface however and this would be a very simple job. Antique Imperial Style Mahogany Tea Cart 1930s
Up for bid is an Antique Imperial Style Mahogany Tea Cart from the 1930s. It is in good condition for it's age but does show signs of surface wear and use which can bee seen in pictures. The only other condition issue is that one of the large wheels is loose and a little unstable due to the spokes not being tight enough. The cart still rolls fine but getting that repaired would be a good idea. It has the Imperial Logo in the drawer. Without the folding leaves up it measures 28" long. 18" wide, and 28" tall. With the leaves up it measures 39" wide. It has a handle for pushing that folds down, a glass shelf insert that moves in and out, and a bottom wooden shelf. We are pleased to offer this incredible. Hand crafted primitive, antique, wine/tea cart or table. This beautiful cart is very old and dates to the early 1900s. The cart is solid carved wood and features 12 old, hand made tiles from Portugal on the top tier. The wood features hand notched or carved patterns in deep relief. The wheels are solid wood and formed using 4 sections of curved wood. The cart has an ornate, raised handle bar support on each side. There are turned wood spokes on the wheels, around the top tier, and on the handle. The bottom tier features a recessed shelf with wood border. The cart is finished in an old, antiqued white which incorporates an antiqued glazing process. Teal(greenish gray blue) painted accents highlight this beautiful cart. The cart has 2 large back wheels with a fixed front center leg support. The old tiles ... moreare used to create a nautical theme and come together to form a large sailing vessel. Though not marked, the cart has definite French Chinoiserie or Asian characteristics. The cart is wood with a black painted(not lacquered) finish. It has two tiers with the bottom tier perfect for storage. The front end of the cart has wheeled casters which are brass plated and a wood/composite combination. The back of the cart has large, wood spoke wheels. The cart has a turned wood, raised handle. The top tier has both a front and back drawer with Chinoiserie pulls. THE TABLE TOP SECTION OF THE CART IS SPECTACULAR! It features a recessed, white, Carrera Marble top with black and gray veins. The bird is detailed with incised carvings of the feathers. Glass beads adorn and accent the tail section. The rock is a carved/chiseled piece of marble or granite which is green with large, white veins. Above the peacock, we see a large branch of an orange blossom tree. The branch is jade. There is a glass piece which fits over the recessed marble section to both protect it and to allow the top of the cart to be functional. This is a beautiful piece. This is a Walnut Paalman Tea Cart with RARE Queen Anne Legs. Paalman Furniture Company. Grand Rapids MI, is widely known to most as the premier tea cart manufacturer and the"drop handle" feature of their carts patented in 1918. Needless to say, other furniture manufacturers mimicked this feature years later. This particular cart features a rich walnut grain. Serving tray with thick walnut handles, Queen Anne Legs and original serving tray glass, 13 1/2" spoke artillery wheels and 3 1/2" front pivot wheels and a lower serving shelf sculptured on right and left sides. Leaves are supported by wooden pull outs. The dimensions are approximately: 29" height with tray and 28 3/4" without tray; 30 1/4" long including handle x 17 1/2" wide leaves down/ 17" width at the wheels; tabletop is 37 3/4" wide ... morex 26" with leaves erect. Note: The drop leaves are dry. The rubber trim/tread on the front two wheels are missing. The two spoke wheels are cracked, wear mark on the outside of spoke wheels. The Barley Twist Legs are thicker than the average Barley twist carts we see. COLLECTIBLE Paalman Furniture Co. Circa early 1900's Numbered Tea Cart. As found condition in Grandmother's attic. Paalman Furniture Company. Grand Rapids, MI is widely known to most as the tea cart manufacturer. Top of cart: there is some warping of wood vaneer as well as a disocolotation/ stain in corner as noted in picture. Can cover with a beautiful doily rather than disturb the integrety. Wood on cart-has a rich grain/ cherry or walnut color. Very possible that this is DARK OAK wood. Refer to pictures. Smaller(approximate 4 3/4 inch) wheels are removeable and pivotable. One is loose fitting. Larger(approximate 13 3/4 inch) spoked artillery wheels are stationary but moveable. I have not cleaned or refinished this so it is in its original condition. All moving parts operate smoothly. The wheels squeak. But I’m sure a drop of oil will solve this problem. It measures about 28 ½” tall. 25 ¾” long, and 17 ½” wide. It measures 41 ½” wide with the drop sides up. It is in age appropriate condition. And is very solid. This will not be shipped. What a great table when you need extra space and need to easily move things. This is a vintage circa 1930's oak tea cart with two drop leaf sides. A removable serving tray in the middle and a shelf on the bottom. The tea cart is painted a warm barn red. Looks striking with the black, hard rubber trimmed wheels which give the cart a smooth ride. The tea cart stands 31" tall including the push handle. It's 28" long(including the push handle) and 16" wide with drop leafs down and 35" wide when leafs are up. 40 lbs. This auction is for a nice& neat Double Drop Leaf Two(2) Tier Tea Cart or Tea Trolley with a Drawer from England. The frame and braces. Top and both leaves are made out of Solid Oak. The bottom shelf are bordered on three sides with one side left open to slide things in and out more easily. These also can be used as a printer table for your computer printer with storage below for your paper. They also make great TV stands for the newer flat panel TV's with the bottomshelf used to hold your cable box, DVD plarer or gaming system.They also make good game tables and puzzle tables. It is in overall good condition and has very nice eye appeal. It still rolls around well and all four wheels are still with it. It's 27 1/2" X 17 1/4" and about 29 1/4" tall overall. The drwaer is 26 5/8" X 12 3/4" and about 1 7/8" deep and has a divider in it. It has a medium dark honey Oak Patina to it. It's a little darker in real life than what the pictures show. It has some blemishes to the finish(light or dark spots or marks) nicks, dings& scratches to the top as well on the legs, braces and stretchers from normal use over the years, but for it's age and travels it's in overall good condition and ready to set out and use and enjoy. Up for bid is a beautiful old vintage rolling tea table cart with a pull out drawer& drop down handle for pulling the cart. The table has two beautiful scalloped leafs that drop to either side. There is not a maker's mark on this table but it looks to be similar in style to George B. Bent's furniture. If you have a suggestion as to who made this please let me know! The surface is lightly scratched and the drawer know is missing but it is in otherwise great vintage condition.
