Antique 1940's-50's American bank shuffleboard table
Up for auction is my father's 1940's era 12' American Standard bank shuffleboard table. It was given to him in the 80's and has been well- kept in the basement of their house ever since. He passed away a year ago. And my mother is wanting to clean house and this table takes up a lot of room! This is a great restoration/conversation piece! A local woodworker has seen it and was drooling over the chance to refinish it. The table has seen its share of play, but is in really good shape still. There are a few small missing trim pieces, but can easily be found or made. The top is made of real butcher block, not the way cheap modern tables are made of. Part of the butcher top has split a little on one end, but can be repaired. It needs some refinishing yes, but for someone not all that serious about playing, it can be played on as-is. ... moreI played a little just after taking pics. Here is a special opportunity to own a really fabulous early twentieth century American walnut dining table that has a wonderful story and has been in my family since 1979. My husband. Then"my boyfriend" was working construction for a contractor on Long Island for the summer during college that year and when the two of them dug this old table out of a basement there in Rockville Centre, he was lucky enough to have the opportunity to buy it from the owner. He later paid to have it professionally cleaned up including having the top refinished and having a custom table pad made to protect the top as well. For the next 35 years we used this table as our formal family dining table, the centerpiece when celebrating holidays and special events with our three children and many friends over the years. Now we are ready to let it go, and it ... moreis ready to make a statement and add to the memories in your home or place of business today. The refinished top is gorgeous and shows off the beautiful walnut wood grains which I attempt to show in my series of photographs. The heavy carved edging and the large turned legs on a split base with bun feet really make for a striking presentation. The table pads are well used and a bit tattered at their edges but certainly are a great asset for use under a table cloth to protect the top. As I show on the underside of the table. The mechanism shows this table is designed to spread to a much longer length, perhaps 10-12 feet, if someone were to have leaves remade. This terrific table measures 60 inches long by 45 inches wide. The table stands 30 inches tall. In addition to making a great dining table. This wonderful old walnut table would also work well as a library or study table for home use or perhaps a law office or other professional work environment. This elegant extending low table was very fashionable at the time of manufacture when Georgian and Federal style reproduction furniture were very sought after. The design is based on larger tables of conventional height from the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century. This piece was bought at an antique store in Summerland. CA and has been used in our house in Santa Barbara, CA where it is now. Item is in good condition and in excellent working state(the extendable table. This is a beautiful antique coffee table made of American quartersawn oak. This is a very substantial and sturdy table. It measures 48 inches long. 30 inches wide and 20 inches tall. The table has column-style legs which measure 15 inches in circumference. Each corner has a leaf carving inset in a band on both sides of the corner. There is also a 28 inch drawer. The only damage is a water ring on the top, which I have tried to show in the last photo. Otherwise it is in very good condition. It is a gorgeous table! 1920s American Mahogany Double Drop Leaf Table
For sale is a classic. Elegant American mahogany double drop leaf table. It is from the 1920s or teens and the surface is in excellent condition. There is one tiny heat spot you can see in the picture, and that is the only imperfection on the table. There are no significant scratches, no gouges, and the legs are scuff free. The condition is remarkable for a piece with high gloss table top. This heat spot could be fixed easily by a reconditioning expert(I am not) The style in ebay is listed as Chippendale. But its really not. Because there are no feet, curved lines or carvings. that's probably the closest in style I could find on the ebay drop down. Dims: both leaves up: 58.5"L. 38"W, 30"H both leaves down: 17.5"L. 38"W, 30"H I have used it sparingly at dinner parties I have held. Its primary function for ... moreme was as a multi-sized dinner table. Seating 2, 4 or 6 very comfortable- or as an expandable writing table(though you will want to keep a pad under where you write so as not to score the surface) It is configurable in 3 different sizes, with 2 drop leaves. This table has served as a visual anchor to my small dining rooms over the past 5 years. The great thing about it is that you can reduce the size to just 12" or so out from the wall by dropping both leaves. I purchased this table as an investment but really have run out of the ability to use after moving recently. Otherwise I would keep it. As noted above. DESCRIPTION: Antique wooden mahogany side/end table made by the Paine Furniture Company in Boston. MA. Overall, the table is sturdy and made from beautiful, solid mahogany. It has gingerbread cut wood on all sides under the top and a rope pattern down the square legs. The top will need refinishing and one corner piece will need repair(see 5th photo) It appears to have a gold Mahogany Association Sticker. But the number has worn off. Therefore, it likely dates back to pre-1959; the exact age is uncertain. The number 55-5075 is stamped and hand written underneath. This is a genuine mahogany end table from between 1939 and 1953 from the Mahogany Association Inc. with a leather top. It is 17" wide by 25" deep and about 25.5" high.
