I dont know much about these but from what I have researched about the company Which Follows: Manufacturer: Henry Likly. The Henry Likly Trunk Company was established in 1844 as A.R. T.H. Pritchard. Upon graduating from school Henry Likly took an apprenticeship with A.R& T.H.Pritchard and mastered his trade in the trunk manufacturing industry.In January of 1868 Mr. Likly was given a partnership in the company. The company then became A.R. T.H. Pritchard& Company. Three years later it became A.R. Pritchard& Likly.When Henry Likly and his brother in-law became the sole proprietors of the business the name was changed to Henry Likly& Company. This was the name from 1870 when A.R. Pritchard retired until 1925 when it simply became"Likly's"As far as I can tell the company was ran by his children after his death in 1897. In New York State the Henry Likly trunk company was the largest factory of its time. Located at 340 Lyell Ave in Rochester N.Y. the factory covered two acres of land. The building was 4 stories tall and utilized 60,000 square feet of space. During this period it was one of the best equipped manufacturing plants in the United States. Antique silver tin metal over wood steamer truck early 1900's unique Rare 1930's
For your consideration is an antique steamer trunk. Dates to approximately 1932. There are stickers on the truck. Which I did not remove. This is a large truck, but in pretty good shape for it's age and the number of trips it has taken over the years. I was told that this trunk went from to Germany, England and to Scotland and then to the United States. Measures 40" wide, 21" wide and 21" deep. This trunk does show wear, but adds to the history. There is some damage to the inside and made some holes on the underside. This does not effect the look, but would not make a good shipping trunk anymore. I did move it full of fabrics however and it held. Shipping is quoted with UPS. If you know of a more inexpensive way to ship this, let me know and we can work together. Likly Luggage Steamer/Wardrobe/Truck
Henry Likly trunk in very fine condition. Known as steamer trunk. Wardrobe trunk or traveling wardrobes, these trunks are large and roomy. They're designed to stand on end for packing or open use. One half of the trunk is filled with drawers while the other half has clothes hangers, and a shoe box. These trunks have become more and more popular. Many are restored and then used in bedrooms of small apartments as a combination chest of drawers and closet. This piece was most likely made in the 1920s/1930s and has been painted and used as a coffee table/conversation piece. The upper part of the left half opens up to allow better access to the hangers. The two chrome rods in the same area telescope out to give the hangers more room when the trunk is open. The piece has all original hardware but no keys. Included are the original wooden suit ... moreand pant hangers. Three regular drawers on right, plus bottom drawer is a double deep drawer. The left side shoe box is missing. For Auction here is a Very Nice Antique German Steamer Chest! Treasure Chest. Shipping Box, from Germany! It has Nice Patina to it There is no notable damage and structurally sound! Its cosmetic conditon is as such.Nice shape considering age. Worn and faded paint and Hand painted German writing. Made of Wood and Metal straping. Some light rust on the straping. Some crayon scribbles in the lid. Wiping the metal with light 50-50 vinegar water solution with neutralize the rust(being careful not to get it on the paint and wod of the chest, and the crayon can be remove with heat from a hair dryer and bloting with clean paper towel. VINTAGE Wardrobe Steamer Truck - 14 PLYWOOD Hangers, 4 Drawers ALL ORIGINAL
For PICK UP ONLY. I have a VINTAGE wardrobe STEAMER TRUNK. As far as I can tell, everything is ORIGINAL, including the 14 PLYWOOD hangers. When closed, standing up, it is 48 inches tall, 23 inches wide and 21 inches deep. The exterior has wood bands down the sides, leather on the corners and edges and metal reinforcement bands, hinges and latches. The black material appears to be vinyl. The interior is lined with olive drab canvas. I think the drawers are thin wood with leather pulls. There is a partial travel sticker on the bottom that looks like it says, DE DOUANE. Judging from the tears in the black covering, it probably had a few more stickers that were, unfortunately, removed. Again. Everything looks original, so it’s probably a good candidate for restoration. Of course, there’s basic wear and tear, plus: On the outside, the hardware ... moreis dark and oxidized but functional. The leather is cracking with some chunks missing. The vinyl is torn away in small places and there’s a few old paint drips and spatter. There’s also a gouge in the wood from a hardware joint at the center, top of the case. On the inside, the canvas is soiled and water stained in places. The canvas separator is especially stained. The drawers are all structurally intact and the leather pulls are not cracked. The canvas that is more of a khaki color is faded olive drab. One of the hangers is warped and another has a split on the end. The interior leather straps have some cracks and one of the loops that holds them in place is broken. There are no bad odors, but when I opened it up for the first time in a few years, I re-Lysoled it just in case there was any lingering mildew. Some flash photography was used.
