This absolutely terrific antique heavy carved quartersawn oak French Renaissance Revival parquet top dining table and eight chairs was purchased by it's current owner about 10 years ago in an antiques shop in Lyon. France and imported to it's current location in Charleston, SC. This high quality solid oak furniture was manufactured somewhere between the 1900 and the early to mid-twentieth century. In addition to the wonderful condition, the beautiful wood grain is highlighted by the highly detailed carvings and the parquet oak and burl top alongside fabulous heavy carved full size dining chairs with leather seats, secured with a complete set of decorative brass tacks. These chairs are particularly rare and hard to find with their full size dimensions and comfortable leather sling seats. Standing on traditional escargot feet. The finely shaped and molded frieze rails sweep in to the fine cabriole legs. The parquet top is all good with no significant marks or scratches. When the table is closed it measures; 51 inches long x 39 inches wide and 29.75 inches high. With one leaf drawn out it is 70 inches long and with both leaves fully extended it is 89 inches long. The table is in it's original polish but has been given a wax polish giving a mid to dark oak colour and fine patination. Antique Wicker Table, Oak Table Top, Nice Condition - Sturdy
This is a beautiful wicker table. The table measures 36" W x 20" D x 29" H. The table weighs 23 pounds before packaging. The top is made of tongue and grove oak boards which are stained in a walnut stain with a coat of linseed oil. I know this because I refinished the top. I found this table at an estate sale. The top was shamefully covered with 1970's fake paneling. I removed the paneling. Sanded the glue and applied 2 coats of walnut(oil based) stain to it. I also applied one coat of linseed oil. There are many tiny finish nail holes on the top of the table from the paneling. The rim of the table and the feet were painted. Not sure if it is the original color or not. But I did not want to disturb the paint. The wicker apron, side legs and cross rail are in remarkable shape. This has all the attributes of a true hand made craftsman Arts and Crafts piece of furniture. There are no labels or marks that we could find on this table. Details: Use of quartersawn oak(see photos of table top) Keyed-through tenons on both sides of table and pegged joinery. The tiles on the top look very much like Rookwood- however. It is a solid heavy oak table top measuring 28' square with 2 3/8' beveled edge sides. I am selling the legs separately and they can be found in my other auctions. They are huge barley twist oak legs with 3' glass ball& claw feet with faces. I am selling them separately as I believe that a bottom shelf was original to the table but was not with these parts. Great pieces for restoring! The top is in 3 boards with the center board being quarter sawn. Beautiful grains in the wood! The top has some small spots of white paint here and there, very minor and some small dents to the wood here and there as would be expected for it's age. Top Here we have a very nice vintage 1920-40's era Keuffel Esser drafting architects table in solid oak with I presume a birch top board. The table measures 70.5" wide. By 36.5" deep, and stands 38" tall, though it can be lowered about 3" by removing the original oak blocks that fit into the bottom of each leg if desired. The table was made by Keuffel& Esser and is so labeled with their brass tag. There are also a number of other tags and decals applied, as this was used at Wright Patterson Air Force Base during or just prior to WWII. There are two drawers at top one wide and one smaller, as well as an oak Keuffel Esser four drawer file to the right side that is just mounted with a few screws. It came from an estate in Warwick NY that was mainly furnished with Mission pieces both signed and unsigned. This is unsigned. We are pleased to offer this lovely pair of antique(very early 20th century) side tables or nightstands. The pair feature solid oak bodies and mahogany tops with stunning. Crotch mahogany veneer. The tables feature finely carved details on the perimeter of the tops as well as on the upper sections of the legs. The perimeters have a notched"feathered" carving and the legs feature carved acanthus leaves. Some of the legs have a quarter sawn pattern. The feet are hooved and are pointed at the tips. The mahogany tops are slightly inset. They feature the distinctive, book matched, crotch cut veneer which is accomplished in a 4 section parquetry. The tables have scalloped aprons which are attached to the table tops via old, flat screws. The legs are attached to the tops via dowels. The tables are very sturdy and weighty for their size. ... moreThey are in very good condition considering the age. The tops were probably originally protected with glass that sat inside the insets. The tops do show some age to the veneer. It is not"glass like" in all the areas. This is not terribly distracting and does give the tables an aged character. It can be resolved if you so choose. The tables are finely detailed and constructed and are quite striking. The tables are somewhat petite. They measure 18.75" tall. The tops are the widest measurements.
