Pair of Mersman 6651 Lyre/Harp Oval End Tables
Up for auction are two vintage Mersman Lyre/Harp Oval top end tables. They are marked on the bottom of each top"Mersman 6651" and appear to be mahogany. These appear to be in original condition as they do have vintage wear and scratches from normal use on the tops. One of the tops does have a crack in the end and someone tried to repair it. But it wasn't done properly and could be properly repaired. However, they are still very beautiful and you are buying a pair with free shipping in the lower 48 States. They will be disassembled when shipped! These were purchased from a smoke free home!

Two(2) Lyre. Harp, Duncan Phyfe style accent, occasional, or end tables from approximately 1940's or 1950's. Tables are in good condition. Structurally sound, finish is in good condition with some surface scratching from years of use. Legs have brass colored tips that are tarnished and need a good cleaning. One of the tables has three(3) notches in rim on top. These notches are small- see photos. The other table has a small chip along the rim, again the chip is shown in the photos. Approximate dimensions for each table is 22" L x 17" W x 27" H.

1940's Mersman#6651 dark mahogany side table. Collectible furniture maker. But Needs Help! Beautiful carved lyre on the base. The legs are also carved. The top is oval and has a tray edge. Top could use refinishing and the table is a little wobbly. 3 of the legs have the original brass claw end caps on them. The 4th one is missing. Thanks for looking! Information regarding Mersman: J. B. Mersman was a 19th-century sawyer with mills in Angola and Kendallville in extreme northeastern Indiana. He relocated his operations across the state line to Ottoville. Ohio, and when the lumber business turned soft around 1876, he started making tables under the name Mersman Tables. From his first table, he went on to make beds and bed parts, too. So successful was he that the nearby city of Celina, Ohio solicited him to build a factory there and provided $7,500 of seed money for the operation. That turned out to be a good investment by the city fathers. He was up and running in Celina by 1900, making beds, library tables and dining tables. But the precision details that were required to successfully produce large volumes of furniture were not to the liking of the old sawmill operator. He turned the business over to his two oldest sons. Edward and Walter, and their partner Henry Lenartz, a banker. With the old business out of the way, Mersman headed for Arkansas to start up another sawmill operation. Antique 20's Duncan Phyfe Style Pair Mahogany Side Tables Lyre Harp Base Ornate Up for your consideration is a stunning vintage pair of Duncan Phyfe style/Mersman Mahogany side tables with Lyre/harp base. Circa 1920's. Part of the original label is intact on the bottom of one tables the only legible part is the last 3 letters which looks like'man' and below that is the reminesce of the word'Tables' so I am guessing they are Mersman. Measurements are 27" tall x 24.5" long x 18" wide. Fantastic lyre shaped base with great carved detail and original brass claw feet all intact. They both have some age/patina including a few lighter spots nothing bothersome, some darker spots and a couple spots where the finish is more worn. One of the tops of the tables has two spots where there is a glue? or thicker finish? ... moreshown in pics. I think this could easily be lightly sanded and fixed with little effort. These are original have not been refinished so they show there natural patina they have been lightly Feed n Waxed in effort to preserve the natural luster in the Mahogany. Up for sale is an antique telephone table with built-in Lyre magazine rack. This solid wood table features a bowed handle. Lovely curved table top with triple routed edges. the handled it attached with dowels to the table round uprights that are vertically routed resembling neoclassical table legs.The bottom of the table is a built-in Lyre shaped magazine rack. Seven individual slats, on each side of the the rack, are in bent into an attractive S-curves and held in place by compression into routed mortise and tenon slots. The magazine rack divider is solid wood with a lovely routed S-curve, one side of the tenon is exposed in the mortise. The table is very sturdy. Assembled primarily with mortise and tenon or dowels at all major joints. Filled nail holes are visible but used sparingly. Measures: 28 1/2" high by 13 1/4" wide by 14 ... more1/2" deep.
