The 2nd owner of this bought it used more than 70 years ago from a local school in Shelbyville, ... moreIndiana. I am confident this dates to the earlier part of the 1900s. It is in pretty good, well used condition. Both wood vices work. The rod from the vice on the side has been broken and repaired. I am inclined to think the two drawers were later add-ons and could easily be removed- they are in decent functional condition. Otherwise the top has great patina. The legs are solid and sturdy. The top does lift off the base for transport. This is pretty heavy as it is solid hard wood but two people can manage it. The length of the top excluding the vice on the side is"79 inches and the vice adds another 4" and so altogether is just shy of 7 ft. It is 24" deep excluding the front vice which adds another 6" to make the total depth 30" From ground to the top of the counter is 36" The only thing I did to this was remove a piece off paneling the previous owner put on the bottom support rails for storage. Then I put some paste wax on the bottom frame and the back side panel as they looked dry to me(even though very solid) I simply cleaned the top lightly to get the garage dirt off. This table would be perfect for many purposes. Of course the carpenter could definitely use it, but it would also fit in many other household settings- kitchen island, bar, garden. It has a fantastic industrial quality to it. I am sorry but I will not ship this. I am on the Northeast side of Indianapolis and it is available for pick up any time. Thanks for looking!

Antique Carpenters Workbench with Vise
Up for auction is a great Antique Carpenter's Workbench with a quick release vise and eight drawers. It is in as found condition distressed with old paint on it from use. The butcher block top measures 52" x 22 1/4" and the vise sticks out 3 3/4" The base with its paneled sides is 36" x 19" and has 8 drawers. One drawer handle is broken and there is a chunk out of one drawer. The handles are labeled with letters that look like they were made by nail impressions. The locks are signed Sheldon& Co. Locks. The inside of a couple of drawers have green paint and a few others have staining. This is a very heavy bench and well made. Please ask questions and view pictures as all sales are final. This one is DATED 1896(on the face of the right vise) which you will rarely see. It's an old. Thick and heavy workbench with 2 vises. This is a VERY nice version of these old workbenches. The vises work, the table is solid and it comes with two heavy metal bench dogs. This one is dovetailed and has a large drawer underneath. The base comes apart by removing the wood shims that hold the cross braces to the two supports. The one support on the left has three legs to support the deeper left side. The workbench has a number of scrapes and nicks as you can see in the pictures as well an awesome patina! We love it! The dark spots you see on the workbench are shade spots from a tree above. It is a consistent warm honey ... morebrown color throughout! It measures 73" L x 27" D and is 80" L x 32" W with the vices. We recently acquired this find at an Estate sale of a master word working craftsman in Chicago. Illinois Here we have a beautifully rugged relic of days gone by that stopped us in our tracks at a recent auction…a hardwood Master Carpenter’s workbench. Circa early 1930’s. The patina is absolutely amazing. This hasn't been made to look aged or distressed. The gentleman who owned this bench would have been over 100 years old, if he were with us today. He was a master craftsman who created many of the hand made clocks and cabinets in their simple home beginning in the early 1930’s, and we could only imagine how many hours he must have spent ... moreworking away at this very bench. This authentic vintage carpenter’s bench bears all of the patina and markings of its age and purpose. You’ll find both deep and superficial cuts, grooves, and wear marks… small paint splatters, a few small burn marks and more… each helping to tell the story of its history. There are two vices at the front of the bench in perfect working order. We found this antique bench to be neat, orderly, and lovingly maintained in the basement workshop of the home. 19th Century Carpenters Workbench
Great vintage workbench from a basement. nice construction as seen in the dovetails of the tail vise and the wedged tenons of the face vise. the height of the bench top is 32 1/2 inches. the tops width is 24 1/2" and length is 79 1/2" the overall length with the tail vise is 85" the base is made of 4 by 4's for the legs and nailed on stretchers. the base has dowels which line up with corresponding holes in the top. the top is great. It has the 2 original iron bench dogs. the vises both work fine. the tool tray has been painted. there is a removable board in that tray so that wood shavings can be cleaned out. there is a twist to the top and there was a repair to the top as seen in the pictures. i am willing to ship it. let me know if i can answer any questions

great honest bench as found. the paint is great on the base. Showing just the right kind of use but not abuse. the through tenons and raised pegs speak of an arts and crafts era influence. drawers work fine, doors slide easily. i think the top had 1 end cut a little shorter. there are some holes in the top which must have been for a vise. the top could be unattached and centered on the base or even moved to one end and reattached.the height is 34" the tops width is 23" by 79 1/4" long. the top is made up of 2" thick planks. i can work with you about the delivery- i know someone doing deliveries on the east coast for a reasonable amount or i could look into the larger freight companies.

These old ones are hard to come by like this but this one's a survivor! It has two vises with wood threads. We did not test the vises but they both move. On the front of one of the vises. It's scribed"1896" with some other writing that we can't distinguish, it looks like"M 1896 M" There's a wooden drawer that's dovetail mortised as you can see in the pictures. It has a cool wrought iron loop handle. The top is separate from the base but could be screwed or bolted to it. The top is heavy! The base is sturdy but since it's wood, and it's old, it does jostle and creak a little bit if you lean on it but ... moreit is still sturdy. The entire workbench has been well used and thus you get the benefits of this amazing look. It has nicks, dings, scrapes, cuts and a wonderful patina. Simply amazing! We ship a lot of things but this one's a bit too much to take on. We will work with you for you to have a carrier pick it up. Vise is in good working condition. It measures approx. 49" long by 32" high by 22" deep(not including vise) It has its original base. Well constructed. Joints are tight and piece is strong and sturdy. Top looks like it was cleaned up at one time. It still retains its original stains. Scratches, nicks, etc. It has its original steel stops or pegs for holes(see pictures) A good looking piece for kitchen island, bar, work table, or even a Carpenter's work bench. Antique Vintage Carpenters solid oak workbench work bench cabinet
I don't know for sure how old this work bench is. But probably at least 100 years. It sat for about 50 years unused in the shop building of a farm widow friend of mine. I have had it in my shop for about five years and have used it mainly to stack stuff on. It is such a beautiful piece that I thought I would see if someone wanted to put it to work or display it, perhaps in a kitchen as an island. Both vices work smoothly. The top is very flat with very few gouges or cuts. There are some paint splatters and some varnish like drips, but overall in very nice condition. The bench is 94 inches long(to the end of the vice) 25 inches wide(not including the front vice) and 32 inches tall. There are wooden pegs on leather straps to lock the drawers closed. There is a neat spring loaded hand saw rack in the center cabinet. The original lock for ... morethe doors is there, and I am trying to find an old barrel type key for it. The original steel pins for use with the end vice are still there. I can load the bench on your truck or trailer. Please check out the pictures and call 970-222-23zero3 if you are interested.
