Made in England, Victorian era, Circa 1890, Mahogany, Hidden drawer, Carved leg, Dovetailed drawer, Some normal wear to top, Age splits and old repairs to apron, A wonderful antique specimen from England around 1890. This hall table was probably once used as a washstand. But today would function perfectly in a foyer, entryway, hallway, or stairwell. The mahogany has a particularly nice patina to it that can only come with age. The piece features a hidden drawer in the middle for a little bit of storage room. The nicely carved front leg gives the table some pizazz while the clean lines of the piece don't over do it. The drawer is dovetailed, a sign of high quality craftsmanship. There are a few age splits and old repairs in the apron shown in the photos. These are purely cosmetic phenomenon and do not affect the structural integrity of the piece. The top also shows wear marks consistent with age and has a faded ring to the right side. Overall the table is quite sturdy and would make a wonderful addition to any home. The top is a beautiful patinated mahogany. It is in good condition. You can see the slight ring to the right side. The top does show signs of wear consistent with age in the form of tiny dings all over the surface some of which can be seen here. The wonderfully carved leg is supportive and good looking. The hidden drawer pulls out to reveal some storage space. The drawer is dovetailed. A sign of high quality craftsmanship. Both sides have similar slight age separations and repairs on the apron. Antique Mahogany Vintage Pedestal Table with Brass Claw Feet by Imperial This table was aquired used in Chicago in the 70's and served in a one person print shop for over a decade. Hence the ink all over it. Then it was a lamp table until now. All the wood is tight. There are no loose wood parts. Approximate measurements: 26 inch diamter. 28 inches tall The current finish predates the print shop. As it is under all the ink spots. The finish is likely not factory since it is splattered atop the signature. the amount of varnish is obscene! I cannot make out the signature. Any ideas? I'd love to hear them! Shoot me an email! A lovely round Federal style table with a pie-crust top(scalloped on the inner and outer edge of the table top) Mahogany or Rosewood is in wonderful condition. Not sure which wood it is made from. But based on the weight I believe it is mahogany. If it were rosewood it would be even heavier. This one was part of the estate sale from a family that was cleaning out their 3rd generation 103 year old farmhouse. No idea who the actual maker is; is this a Duncan Phyfe original? I don't know; I understand that only a very few original Phyfe pieces(out of the many made) were actually marked. If anyone looking can give me more clues as to whether this piece IS an original Phyfe please do so and I will re-list with an appropriately higher price: Just kidding. If you can even find a table made from all solid real wood in the stores nowadays you will definitely be looking at a few hundred dollars, minimum. Look closely at the pictures. And note the metal pieces on the underside(pictures#6& 7) that were used in attaching the tripod legs to the spindle. Also take a peek at the screw heads on the underside of the table top(picture#5) this is a pretty good indicator of the age on this piece. The top can be removed from the base by unscrewing in a counterclockwise direction. The base is a tripod(three legs) The foot of each leg has a vintage brass claw cap. Sets of 3 of the new(not vintage) brass claw caps(without legs or a table! were selling on Ebay by another seller for $39.00. At some point in more recent history, someone placed metal taps on the bottom of each foot; it is obvious that these were a much later addition. take a look at picture#8! This is a beautiful. This is a lovely vintage mahogany side table. Worthy of any room. It measures 19.5 inches tall with a 14 inch diameter table top. The three legs are inlaid and finished with brass claw feet. Its only flaw is a very thin three-quarter inch indentation in the table top that barely shows in bright light. Overall, the table is in very good condition for its age. Thanks for looking! Information regarding Mersman: J. B. Mersman was a 19th-century sawyer with mills in Angola and Kendallville in extreme northeastern Indiana. He relocated his operations across the state line to Ottoville. Ohio, and when the lumber business turned soft around 1876, he started making tables under the name Mersman Tables. From his first table, he went on to make beds and bed parts, too. So successful was he that the nearby city of Celina, Ohio solicited him to build a factory there and provided $7,500 of seed money for the operation. That turned out to be a good investment by the city fathers. He was up and running in Celina by 1900, making beds, library tables and dining tables. But the precision details that were required to successfully produce large volumes of furniture were not to the liking of the old sawmill operator. He turned the business over to his two oldest sons. Edward and Walter, and their partner Henry Lenartz, a banker. With the old business out of the way, Mersman headed for Arkansas to start up another sawmill operation.
