It has four cutout legs with burl panels accented the sides and are joined together with a center column that has finials on the top and bottom. It has porcelain casters. The overall size is 29 inches long, 24 inches deep, and 30 inches high. It is a nice-looking original finish in a dark walnut stain. The patina of the walnut looks stunning against the marble top. This parlor stand features the typical shapely legs, carved frame, but what makes this table special is the carved basket of fruit in the middle of the bottom shelf. Sometimes you see these with a dog carved in them, but this is unique with the fruit basket. This table was really dry when we brought it in, it has been sanded down, over-stained it, and then re-lacquered it to bring out the gorgeous luster of the walnut from the Victorian era of the 1880s. The marble is in really nice shape! It has an OG, beveled edge, and just a couple of tiny little nicks, that we are only mentioning because we like to be thorough.

The top is of white statuary marble with nice bevelled curves. The American Rococo Revival style furniture such as this étagère pier table were often found in homes of the Antebellum era. This is a handsome and monumental piece. With the emphasis on graceful line.The leaf-shaped lower shelves are characteristic of New York etageres, which would have been echoed in the multi-shelf arrangement above. The legs have carvings at their tops and the table's legs end in carved paw feet. I believe the table is done in an antique Chipendale style table. I purchased this beautiful table in 1988 from a local antique shop. It was sold and advertised as a 1920s coffee/center table. And its finish and construction appears to be from that time period to the early 1940s. I commissioned an antiques refinisher to do a French polish on the wood ... moreand to do a high polish on the marble. I believe the table has a lacquer finish, however, I am not absolutely sure because I am not an expert in furniture finishes. The furniture restoration turned out what I hoped for, and I've enjoyed having the piece in my home ever since. Beneath the marble top is a shelf which is perfect for books and magazines.
