It was found on an antique market here in the South of France. This delightful purse would make a wonderful gift for a bride"Something old" and afterwards as a family heirloom of the special day, it could be filled with lav e nder and displayed in a lady's boudoir. It truly is a beautiful french treasure from a bygone time. The purse has been made of fine silk to the front and linen to the back, adorned with pretty lace, tiny rosettes made from silk ribbon and to the centre there is a wooden bead covered in fine silk thread, the purse measures in diameter approx 5.25" or 13cms, then this is suspended on a fine silk ribbon topped with a ros ette also made of silk. ... moreThis ribbon is d i stressed from the passage of time. Growing up in California, I remember hearing about this myth in school, that California had been described as an island, populated with Amazons! Years later, I found this copy of one of these early maps at auction and had it re-framed with acid free paper and lucite(rather than glass) in order to protect the image from UV rays AND to protect me in case of an earthquake! Downsizing; unfortunately, this needs to go. Title: Amerique Septentrionale. 1650 0 My research into this map found the following about the original map. This is Nicholas Sanson's landmark map of North America. The map is one of the first maps to use the sinusoidal Sanson-Flamstead projection. A very rare antique french viola bow circa 1840. Very rare square like head. The figured wood is stunning. The stick very dark with wonderful striped grain lines. The stick is round. Very strong, straight, good flexibility no damages to this bow. The frog and button are in good condition and working order. The bow weighs 68 grams currently with just old worn hair left. Olds Single F French Horn - Plays Beautifully
This Olds F Horn is a classic. Its sound is brilliant and it works fine. It is very old and has some worn brass finish and dings on outside from bell toward hand grip(see pictures) They do not affect its playing ability. It plays from the lowest C all the way to as high a player is proficient. I've belted out a high A on it. It has been tested chromatically through the scales. Bought it on ebay a year ago and now have a double horn. So the only reason for the sale is that I no longer need it. This is a great horn for a beginner. Olds is one of the best makers from its time and its sound proves it. Playing file available upon request(RealPlayer format of chromatic and C scale) You can't ask for a better playing horn. With a red paste stone in the centre and ornate green, white and gold enamel detailing around the outside. The silver mount is decorated with beading along the outside and it fastens with a c-clasp. There's a French crab hallmark stamp on the clasp and another, possibly a maker's mark, which is too indistinct to read. It measures 1.9cm wide and weighs 3.5 grams Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition with the usual light marks and tarnish to the silver which you'd expect on an antique item. I imagine they date from the early 1900's. I have left them just as I found them and as they have been for years but if required they would clean and polish further and look truly magnificent. As the photos show there is some denting and both are slightly misshapen slight bending to each. There is light denting to the one and the other has been knocked slightly harder. Nothing drastic and if positioned correctly you wouldn't be able to see it I don't think. Any damage is all commensurate with age and use. French Louis XVI Style Antique Bergere Arm Chair c. 1890, Beautifully Carved

C. 1890 Item# 1406MLO14P With a truly magnificent level of carved detail. This chair makes quite a statement. The entire crest rail and frame is embellished with variated motifs of waterleaves, acanthus, berries and ribbon interlaced symmetrically around the comfortable caned back. The arms are upholstered to match the stuffed cushion(all upholstery should be changed or at least the tears repaired) the arm holds curving where they join the frame. The apron is carved in a similar manner, though with some restraint, flanked by deep carved rosettes inset on each corner over the turned, tapered and fluted legs. French louis xvi inspired foot stool/ Gold color and Beautifully trimmed
French Louis xvi foot stool. This wonderfully delightfully golden colored stool with cloth specialty edging antique French furniture piece is extremely hard to find. I believe some of the original hardware has been replaced. Like the screws on the underneath are now philips screws. This stool is a very sturdy stool not weak at all, yet cloth is fragile.I would suspect that the Covering would need to be replaced.Being the original cloth age has taken its toll.Underneath webbing is gone so is easy to see in the pictures all the conditions of boards and springs,as you can see they are in good condition.The legs look like they are made of something other than wood,yet i believe it to be a coating.but it may not be.I did not attempt to recover.some collectors like to restore items themselves.This is the original cloth.I believe that this is a ... morefeather stuffed stool but don't hold me to that.Their are some dirty and worn spots in cloth.You will need to recover if you use this as a foot stool. and are not buying for pieces.Please take time to look at pictures well.This is not a new Item.I will only refund the price paid for item-the paypal fees. Primitive French Antique Virgin Mary Statue Signed - Beautifully Timeworn
Up for auction is a very old time worn French plaster Virgin Mary statue in soft pastel colors. Looks like there is two marking on the back bottom portion of this piece. T he first part of the makers name starts with a Du* Ducon? but the rest is a little hard to make out. Below says Lourdes(the photo is a little hard to read) It was purchased from the south of France by myself. This Virgin Mary statue is a very early piece from the late 19th to early 20th century. This statue is very light in weight and very soft to the touch. This is a great one-of-a-kind find and a very fine old religious antique statue that is sure to make a great addition to any Catholic religious collection and for prayer and meditation. The tassels date from around the late 18th- early 19th century. And despite their obvious wear, they are utterl beautiful. A reminder of bygone days of frivoraly, with some nice examples of the tecnique of passementerie of this era. The photos form the desription for these tassels so please do look at their flaws and decide how forgivable they are given the age and use these tassels have seen. The smaller tassel measures 6.6 inches/ 16.5 cm long and the longer tassel measures 8 inches/ 20.5 cm long. These measurements do not include the silk cords used to hang the tassels.
