The top is hinged and lifts to expose a nice compartment for all types of sewing notions. The little walls can be moved and arranged in different configurations. Nice hand dovetailing drawer construction. There is one little area of molding on left front near drawer missing. There are several small areas of veneer chipped out which is typical for age. Antique Vintage Sewing Cutting Measuring Ruler Wood Folding Table EUREKA LABEL
This is an auction for a RARE beautiful antique Sewing Table with cast iron hinges and a paper label indicating it was made by the EUREKA PORTABLE TABLE CO. pat. 1873. There is also a stamp in the wood"Pat Aug 26. 1873" see photo. The label is mostly there and has things like"Agents Wanted" St. Louis and Chicago mentioned. It has instructions as to how to open and close the table. This table has very unique and rare cast iron hinges that lock into place when the table is open. There is a 36" ruler incorporated on the table. The table measures 40" x 21" and stands a little over 24" high. There appears to be repairs on each corner of the table underneath at the legs. I have attached a photo of one of the corners. I guess that's not unusual for a table that is about 140 years old. The legs are spindle ... morestyle. I'm not sure of the wood- I can't see the grain well because it probably has been refinished. But I believe it is either cherry or maple. Starting with a hobby, began what would become the largest and longest operating sled company in American history…Early on he was plagued with a serious eye condition…Living in West Sumner, Maine with his wife Lucilla in 1861, he started making rakes and non-steerable sleds ... moreas a hobby to make extra money. This is an old coffee table made from six. Antique sewing machine drawers. Nice hardware on the drawer/ boxes. Which were made with dove-tail precision. Don't know how old this table is. From the photos you can see that this is a particularly elegant set of legs with a nice. Wide stance. It is made from solid mahogany with inlay along the legs. Drawers, and top(see photos) The inlay is made from a light colored hardwood. The table is 29 ½ inches tall, 27 ½ inches wide, and 13 inches deep. It has 3 drawers, each of which is dovetailed. The drawers have the original glass knobs with brass trim where they touch the drawer. The 6 glass knobs have an embossed starburst design on the front and each measures 1 3/8 inches across. There are two curved storage compartments with hinged lids, one on each side. Under each compartment is a hand-chamfered board. This unusual sewing cabinet has seven-sided beveled wood sides. It is a very sturdy. All original piece made of solid mahogany with three drawers, one with a sliding compartment for thread and other sewing notions. It also has two flip-top compartments on either end for sewing or knitting supplies. Measurements are 28 1/2"W x 14 1/2" D x 30"H. This piece has been in my family(my grandmother's) for at least 55 years, but could be older. The finish overall looks very good, except for the top which has some discoloration in the finish,some scratches typical of a piece of this age. This beautiful piece is original finish. Never restored. It has a few unusual features. One, it has a piece of glass cut to it's shape to protect the top so it can be used as an end table, night stand, phone table, etc. I have never seen another with glass. Under the glass it has a piece of oil cloth with fancy edging and it's hand painted with a floral design on the edges. Again, never seen this before. The bottom edge is cut with a scallop pattern I again have never seen on one of these and the curved graceful legs are really different. Most have strait legs maybe with some ornamentation. So all and all, this is a very unusual piece. These were made in the 1890's to the 1930's along the lines of the sewing table Martha Washington used with a few changes.Some were given away by the Larkin Soap Company as a premium for buying ... more$10.00 worth of their soap. This is an antique table mash up of a 1910's- 20's singer sewing table base I pulled out of a house in my neighborhood and an early 1900's oak opticians work table top. The oak top has some scratches and other small testaments to its age. I cleaned it up a little and put a fresh coat of finish on the top but left the wear and tear alone as its part of that tops history. The base is in great condition- no breaks. Up for your consideration today is a VTG/Antique Wood/Wooden Sewing Stand/Cabinet/Side Table! My Husband& I have been collecting old tools& such for decades! Starting with his Great Grandfathers. His Grandfathers and his father's and ANY OTHER'S ALONG THE WAY! We are starting to downsize the Farm as they say and he is FINALLY going threw them! Please check out my other auctions for combined shipping! This is just the beginning of a ton of neat old farm items! This is a neat old sewing stand I believe! It is in good used condition with some wear and repairs(please see pictures) It measures 27 1/2" tall X 28" long X 13" wide without handles on drawers. I will remove the legs(that screw on) for cheaper shipping. This reminds me of a Martha Washington stand, but it has no maker's mark on it. We have not cleaned ... morethis. We will leave that to the new owner if they choose to. Vintage Antique White Wicker Expanding Storage Sewing Stand
Here is a vintage white wicker expanding sewing cabinet. Cabinet measures about 17" by 17" and stands about 30 1/2" tall. The cabinet opens up to show 4 storage areas in total. The top one has a lid for opening. The cabinet is in pretty good condition, although there are several areas, as can be seen in the pictures, where the wicker is cracked or damaged.
