They were built with quality and built to last, which is why they have stood the test of time! The craftsmanship that went into the construction and design of theses ole’ trunks are truly nothing short of spectacular. I recently discovered this wardrobe trunk buried in the rafters in the attic of a local farm house estate in a in nearby town. It stopped me dead in tracks and I had to literally pick my jaw up off the floor! There was no way I was leaving without this trunk. And lucky for me I had hubby to carry it out of the attic and down 3 flits of stairs! And now for the decription… This is a nice authentic period Wardrobe steamer trunk. It is signed on the exterior by the maker Oshkosh Trunk Company. I am unsure of the exact age. But it was clearly left where I had found it for a very very long time. If I had to guestimate I would say it is likely from the early 20 th century. It measures 40 x 22 x 20 inches and weighs 75 pounds respectfully. The exterior is covered with what appears to be a volcanized material with dozens of original brass. Nails, knobs Hinges, Lock and hardware. The lock comes with key and functions as designed. On the interior right side. The trunk has 5 wood drawers with original deco drawer pulls and covered in swanky antique fabric. The left side has an area for hanging clothes with original wood hangers. There is also a cloth pocket the store shoes but some on the threading has come undone. The latches are in

In pretty nice condition. Has a divider. To seperate your items. Comes apart to seperate to two what I think two cases as you can see in the 9th picture. Has some wear and some markings, scuff marks. Overall is in very nice condition. Inside in very nice condition. The inside does not smell, Has a small rip as you can see in the last picture, it is just on the outside, not all the way through. Missing a snap botton as you can see in the 2nd to the last picture and maybe missing part of the same strap I think because it does not reach to the other strap. Im not sure about the age. This is an antique pre war Oshkosh Steamer"The Chief" wardrobe Trunk with 2 fold out shelves. A case and its original key. It also has a plastic Rite-On chart sleeve made by Aljon Company. I am told that it was owned by Diane Strawbridge Wister of Bryn Mawr PA of the Cambell's soup family. When closed it is approximately 42" tall, 22 1/4" wide and 25" deep. It is in good condition considering its age, but the back has some water damage and there is some rust, the cover on one of the fold out shelves is not attached, but it does close and the shelf wood has some small chips at the back. Measuring 42" high, 25 1/2" wide, and 22" deep, the exterior features original brass hardware, a working Yale lock and key, a sturdy leather handle, and heavy-duty protective edging and corner guards. The Belber company was established in 1891 when two school age brothers. Aaron and Henry Belber, scraped together $200 and started making luggage in a South Philadelphia basement. The Belber brothers, aged 13 and 15, worked 10 hours a day, six days a week, hand stitching luggage. They opened a first factory in 1903. In 1919, the Belber Trunk and Bag Company acquired the Oshkosh Trunk Company and became the world's biggest manufacturer of traveling goods. In 1920. The company purchased the Larkin Building on Arch Street in Philadelphia and established there its main office, a factory and a salesroom. For sale is an antique Oshkosh Trunks and Luggage Co. full wardrobe/ steamer dome top chest in outstanding condition. Dark Green(think British Racing Green) with cream trim. All original hardware(including lock/ handle made by Eagle Lock Co. of Terryville, CT) leather handle still intact. All hangers, no rips in fabric, drawers still have tie downs, handpainted"L.L.H. Wynnewood, PA" see pics) Paint is still pretty glossy. 5 of the ball casters still roll, 3 are rusted. Super clean, all original. Can be used as is, can be further reconditioned(all I've done is wipe it down to remove the"attic babies" repurposed- whatever floats your boat. No keys, but lock is intact(they are usually cut) and keys can be bought here on eBay(Eagle Lock Co. 022U75) Based on tag(Oshkosh Trunks and Luggage) it can't be older than 1939. ... moreEqually appropriate for men's or women's clothing. Welcome to"StoreFourtyFour" storage finds. Up for auction today is this beautiful early to mid 20th century Oshkosh Steamer Trunk. This trunk was found in a climate controlled storage unit and is in amazing condition. The lock has been cut but does still function for latching the lid shut. It appears to be in the fashion of the Chief line but with a custom ordered color. I have researched this trunk and it does not appear often in this color leading me to believe it was a custom order. The trunk has its original two interior trays which are also in great shape. This is one awesome piece. Please refer to the pictures for your own determination of condition.
