Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. Up for auction is this WHOLE lot of barrister bookcases. Bookcase and file sections, doors, tops, and parts. these all came from the same estate and were in a big jumbled pile when I got them. I've matched them up the best I could into three whole bookcases plus some leftover doors, pieces, and sections. All sections except one are Globe Wernicke or Macey(the other is a Humphrey Widman) and all/most sections are oak, maybe a couple mahogany(or oak with a really dark patina) Most sections have doors, most doors have glass. Some of the extra doors have glass, some don't, some are missing the knobs, etc. The doors come from Macey, Globe Wernicke, and Lundstrom. Most sections are in good shape with the usual scratches, dings, etc. only a couple sections are really ratty but may be good for parts. SEE PICS. All sections are the standard ... more34"wide size. Here we have a great set of antique quartered oak Globe Wernicke Stacking Barrister Bookcases- this 8pc office bookcase has a sleigh top and drawer base. It consists of 1 D-12 1/4 grade 298 case. 2 C-11 298 1/2 bookcases, and 3 c-11 298 bookcases. The bottom D12 measures apprx 34" wide x 14 1/2" tall x 11 2/ deep, the others are apprx 34" wide x 12" tall x 9 1/2" deep. All are in nice condition. Please see photos for more details. Antique Globe Wernicke 6-Stack 299 Grade Oak Stacking Lawyers Barrister Bookcase
Up for bid is a wonderful 6-stack Globe Wernicke lawyers or barristers bookcase made of quartersawn oak. All sections are the very desirable Grade 299(quarter sawn/tiger oak with the medium finish) Has the very desirable ogee(curved) top and bottom. All sections are size D-10 1/4. Bookcase is ALL ORIGINAL. Original finish. Original wavy glass, original knobs on the doors. Bookcase is ALL COMPLETE. All labels are present and intact. All glass is present(no cracks or breaks) All felt along the tops of the doors is complete and intact. All scissors mechanisms are present. All acid-etched side bands are correct and present. I rescued over 20 sections from a storage room of an old Chicago school library, and these 6 sections were in the best condition. Condition of the sections is way above average for their age. After 100 years the finish on ... morethese cases has usually"alligatored" Not here. Although there are the usual scratches and chips in the finish, which is to be expected(there is a rub of white paint on the right side of one section shown in the photos) the outside finish is overall extremely smooth with a nice gloss. The very top has the most wear and scratches as the librarians slid and stacked items on top of the cases. There is also the reside from 2 old pieces of cellophane tape on the front of the top. I can find no delamination of the back panels, nor any bubbling of the veneer on the very top. Being in a library for so many years has preserved them nicely. Overall size of the bookcase is 84" tall x 34" wide x 12" deep. If you need more photos. Or have additional questions, please email me. Antique Globe Wernicke Oak Stacking File Cabinet Barrister
Up for auction is a Globe Wernicke file cabinet from between 1910 and 1920. It is made of quartered oak with an antique oak finish and brass hardware. The gold"Globe" stenciling still remains on the top of the unit. The dimentions are 18' deep. 17.5 wide and 31.5' tall. It is fully functional and the file cabinet unit and the card catalog drawers work as intended with the original hardware remaining. Condition: Good original condition with the usual age related scratches and blemishes to the finish. There is dark staining and a little rippling to the veneer on the top. Most of the finish is definately originial. But I'm really not sure if the sides of the file cabinet unit have been refinished at some point. They have the same type of wear as the rest of the unit, but are noticibly lighter than the patina on the rest ... moreof the pieces. The brass side bands have oxidation on parts of them. Up for Auction is a Beautiful Early Globe-Wernicke Oak Lawyers Stacking Bookcase. The bookcase stands 58 inches tall. Is 34 inches wide, and is 12 inches deep. There are four units as well as a top and base. The units measure: 2 are 8-1/4 inches tall, one is 10-1/4 inches tall and one is 12-1/4 inches tall.
