Antique Machine Age Industrial Cast Iron Drafting Coffee Table Base Steampunk
Here we have a great antique cast iron base with hand cranks on each side that turn a gear. The gear comes out a little bit above to top of the table base I imagine it would make for a cool adjustable drafting style coffee table. As you can see from the photos these legs are a bit top heavy. I put a small piece of cardboard to hold the two legs together and they stood up fine no problem so I don't think there would be any issue once a top is crafted for them. The bottom of the legs can also be mounted so this could either be mounted to the floor or even on top of a taller table to craft or even the wall. These legs stand about 18 inches tall not counting the gears and cranks.

SOTTOF SALES Amazing table with cast iron base that is 31 3/4" High x 48" Diameter x 3 3/4" Thick. 28" from underside of table to floor. The base is a cast iron pedestal from a metal working lathe from 1942. The door on the front opens. The original layers of paint are still there with a different shade showing thru in various spot from many years of use. The cast iron has been cleaned and lightly waxed to bring out its full character. The top is from a retired Patternmakers shop and was turned on a large wood lathe many years ago. It was a blank intended to be shaped into a pattern to make a mold to be poured in metal but was never used. It is built up from many layers of dense plywood with a top layer of fir in a pie wedge design for stability. Holes have been plugged. Up for auction is a vintage cast iron industrial table base. This table is equipped with 4 swing arm swivel stools. The table base is in original condition with no breaks to the legs or decorative connecting piece. The stools swivel as they should and are in good working condition. The maple stool tops are original and will probably need to be reglued at the seams. The base has surface rust and it will be up to the buyer to refinish as they choose. The base is 53" long. 24" wide and 29" tall. I have 2 of these table bases and together you could make a 10' table. I bought this drafting table from a individual who inheriated it from his grandfather who intern recieved it from a dayton Ohio firm when he retired in the early 60's so the story goes. The drafting table does not show any lableing regarding the manufacture but it is clearly an antique. The diminsions: Table Top 60" Long x 36" Wide x 1" Thick. When cranked all the way down with the table top flat it sit approximately 35" above the floor. When cranked all the way up with the table top flat it sit approximately 47" above the floor. To raise and lower the drafting you release the pressure by turning a spicket type handle see picture number 9. Then you turn the wheel see picture 9 and then 11 for close up. Once you have the drafting table at the desired ... moreheight you turn the spicket clockwise to apply pressure to the mechanism to secure the desired height. The drafting table angles approximately 80 degrees in both directions. Again you use a spicket type handel see picture 10 turning counterclockwise which releases the pressure on the drafting table top mechinism then you push or lift the drafting table top to the angle you want and then you turn the spicket handle clockwise to to apply pressure to secure the angle of the drafting table top. ANTIQUE DIETZGEN CAST IRON DRAFTING TABLE INDUSTRIAL AGE STEAMPUNK
A rare Dietzgen drafting table with a cast iron base. Our research shows it is a very early version cast only with a 213 at the base of center posts. The table is height adjustable by turning the crank and tilts by loosing a handle. The treads are not SAE/USS standard which was established in 1906 and based on this. The table is probably dated from this period. This drafting table was found sitting upside down in the loft of my friends old junkyard near Detroit. I went back later and dug up and old drafting light which is included- last picture. The light works but it needs a part on the receptacle end and there is no shroud. But at one time it apparently was mounted on the middle top of the board judging by screw holes. The light does post-date the drafting board though. The 3 foot by 6 foot table top has a lot of patina its 100+ years. ... moreWe decided to leave this original top alone except for a few minor touch-ups with varnish. At some time in the past it had several coats of varnish applied to the table top. The top at three feet wide is narrower than most later tops so its convenient to use as an kitchen island or modern living room. The table has one odd aspect. There is a section of the vertical motion range where the board has to be tilted upright otherwise the curved track ear interferes with the cross shaft of the gear mechanism. A few items were repaired; one thread on a through rod at the base. The crank handle was replaced with a very similar later crank from a vintage milling machine, however the original crank is included. The bottom tubes where people rested their feet were straightened. There is still one tube in the middle that is slightly bent. The cast iron base was repainted in semi-gloss black based on some sections of the original paint. The base and the bottom of the table were painted black many years ago and some of this repaint had chipped off so we decided to go ahead and paint the cast iron base and any iron parts on the table top. There is a height adjustment ring but is tight; measures 22" from floor to ring. Top casting is screwed with bolt and tension screw. All screws. Lock knobs and ring are in good shape but rused tight. The table top has six holes for mounting a top and measures approx 16" long x 16" wide. Sits on three full swivel caster wheels that work well. All original. Still has its original red paint. You're looking at a set of rare. Antique Standard Sewing Machine Co. table legs. These cast iron legs are in great condition and are perfect for creating a standard-height(30" table. From the photos you can see that this is a particularly elegant set of legs with a nice. Wide stance. As they currently sit, the legs are 28.5" in height but this can be decreased by approx 2" by loosing bolts on both ends of the leg(see pic#6) In pic#10 you can see a chip in the mount area. HELLO BIDDERS- You are bidding on an A RE-PURPOSED 1930'S DEMMING CAST IRON BASE WITH A MAPLE WORK BENCH TOP. This is a beautiful piece of industrial furniture that would make a great desk. Dining table or other table. The base is a Demming cast iron base from the 1930's. The base came from a factory near Chattanooga.TN that made uniforms for business and military. It was an original piece in the building I found it in. The beautiful Maple top I found in an industrial salvage plant in Dalton. GA. The top was from the late 1940's. I pressure washed and removed most of the old paint from the table top and sanded it down to a 180 grit. I then coated the top with three layers of poly sanding in between coats. The green 57 Chevy green paint looks incredible against the distressed Maple wood. The table top side was the bottom and the ... morenon-paint side was the working top side. You can use either side so both are pictured for you to choose. They both look incredible. The table top has scars and metal that I ground down flush with the Maple. I sandblasted the base and polished it down to bare metal and shot it with four coats of lacquer giving it an excellent seal. The wheels have also been polished out and can be used or easily removed. The table top measures 60" x 22" and is apx. 28" tall with the wheels on. A simple peg in the wheel hole will raise it an inch or two if needed. It is an excellent height for a desk or dining table. It is smooth to the touch there are wear marks under the finish it is a very old top but hard and solid. The top measures 27 1/2" wide and 17 3/4" deep and about 3/4" thick. It will come with the original flat head screws in an envelope. The legs are cast iron and heavy. They measure 27" tall and 16" wide at the bottom. The top area that the wood sits on is 12 5/8" wide for each leg. The legs have iron wheels and they do roll. Early 1900's Industrial Age Original Drafting Table Cast Iron Steam Punk
A classic drafting table from the great industrial age of America. This thing is cast iron and thick wood and it weighs a bunch. Top is 60" x 40" and can be raised to 48" high or lowered to 35" height. Top can be tilted to almost straight up& down and has a built in stop at level position. Photos 3 and 4 show the wheels that control tilt and height adjustment. Base is cast iron wtih heavy metal cross braces. Both feet are embossed"The Frederick Post Co Chicago San Francisco" as seen in photo 5. Base has a foot rest board. Top wood has some damage to the corners and hundreds of pin holes from being used that add real character to it. Back has several bracing boards as seen in photo 10-they all look original to me. Years ago I reconditioned one of these for my daughter(artist) and there isn't a day goes ... moreby that her or the granddaughters don't use it for some art or school project-actually sets in the middle of their living room. I think it would make a great dining table or raise it up for a bar also. It is fully functional. The metal parts have some rust but could be repurposed into a neat piece with lots of possibility. Another hole has been drilled adjacent to the damaged area. This was done when the table was disassembled for packing.There are no other damages and there have been no additional repairs. The top plate and column have been zip tied to the base. The nut& rod are packed inside the column. The box is pictured packed but without the additional top layers of Styrofoam.
