Louis XVI French Library Table,Black w/brass inlets, silk screen painting on top
We inherited the table from mother. She inherited from her grandparents who lived in Elmira, NY. We were told it was built in italy or spain in the mid 1800, was bought by great,great grandparents and then given to each generation. It has had very good treatment over the years. Not sure of the original owners. No repairs had to be made through the years due to the care given to it. The brass works was cleaned twenty years ago. Inlay on table is of two birds, autmn leaves. The table is in excellant shape. Value should be at $25,000 or more but is negotiable. My great-great grandparents furnished their two story home, in Elmira, NY in the 1800 area in very expensive, victorian and french style antiques.

French Louis XVI Style Gilt Painted Marble Top Antique Console or Pier Table
FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE GILTWOOD MARBLE TOP CONSOLE TABLE Early 20th Century Item# 502FKG22 This very attractive French Louis XVI Style marble topped console table was probably crafted during the first quarter of the 20th Century. Possibly earlier. The marble top is absolutely gorgeous, an original and vast slab of Carrara marble with projecting corners and a thin channel carved around the edges. The apron of the table is intricately carved with repeating motifs of floral rosettes set inside an infinite swirling ribbon and over the twisted rope molding along the lower edge. The center of the apron features a wonderful display of sprouting acanthus foliage, the same form employed as returns along the back edge of the frame. The legs are exquisitely carved, the swell of the baluster carved with crisp acanthus leafage over the tapering stop-fluted ... moredesign of the leg and terminating on carved ball toes beneath a square blocked rosette. For anyone passionate about fine French furnishings, this is an absolutely gorgeous classical piece of a style and form that has remained incredibly popular for over two hundred years. Measurements: 51 3/4" W x 17" D x 31 3/4" H Condition Report: Missing molding over left leg. Other small molding losses, some looseness in gilt wood return at back of side, right front leg joint a bit loose from years of use.
