Superb Ancient Romano Egyptian Banded Agate Intaglio of Serapis 2nd Century AD
On offer is superb Roman Egyptian banded agate intaglio of Serapis. Dating to the 2nd or 3rd century AD. The intaglio is cut through a natural white layer of agate, into the orange carnelian agate beow to give depth and dimension. Once the impression was made in wax, the head stands proud in cameo form. The intaglio depicts the head of Serapis, in my opinion modelled in the guise of Emperor Caracalla(198- 217 AD) Serapis is depicted wearing a modius on his head, a classic attribute of this Graeco-Egyptian god who during the Roman period was used in Egypt in place of Jupiter. Emperor's being divine and worshipped as such, often portrayed themselves in the guise of various gods, Jupiter, Serapis and Hercules being favourites. This ringstone was likely originally mounted within a gold signet ring, worn by an administrator or goveneor, working ... morein Alexandria or another part of Roman Egypt. It is unlikely a military intaglio, with portraits of the gods and emperors being used mainly by priests and civil servants. The intaglio is in excellent condition and is suitable for remounting into a gold ring if desired! CULTURE: Romano Egyptian SIZE: 16mm x 12mm x 5mm WEIGHT: 1.5g DATE: 2nd- 3rd Century AD MATERIAL: Banded Agate gemstone This item is guaranteed authentic and dates to the period described. CV Roman Bronze Ring SUPER LEGIONARY SOLDIERS BATTLE SHIELD ~ size 11 1/2
ROMAN BRONZE RING Perfectly Decorated Legionary Shield Size 11 1/2 Average Opening = 21.06mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This ring has an SUPERB design! This fine ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Moesia and dates from between 100 and 300 AD This ring features the Roman Legionary Shield design. There is a shield design in the center of the bezel that is less common. Where the more common rings have a diamond surrounded by sets of lines in a diamond shape or a chevron. This example has vertical panels with alternating, filled-in, zig-zag ... morepatterns of triangles and diamonds that were carved in such a way that they REALLY jump out at you. The design on this ring is in TIP TOP condition. The design is crisp and clear and very well done. The shoulders of this ring are wide and MIRROR smooth as you can tell by the reflections in the second picture of the ring. You can see the nice shoulder decorations which are a little more fancy than we usually see. This is an AMAZING Legionary Artifact. Ancient Rome may have passed into history. But at least we have these artifacts to remind us of Rome's legendary might. It was common practice for Roman soldiers to wear rings that resembled the devices on their shields. There is a little extra wear here and there which adds to the charm of this STUNNING ring. This ring was also cast from an odd. Silvery b bronze alloy as you can tell from my pictures. In some lights it looks like silver but you can also see some golden highlights bounce off it as you move it in the sunlight. This ring has an uncommon design that makes this ring a rare treat indeed. ATTENTION* A few of you have asked me to give you a"heads up" on when a good"everyday" ring comes up. Well.he

These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. Legionary Power! This ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Moesia and dates from between 300 and 400 A.D. This ring features the device of the 11th Legion which controlled the area from 100AD until the Empire eventually fell to the Barbarians. Prior to the Emperor Constantine's conversion to Christianity. The Legion had either a dolphin or dolphin and trident for their insignia. After the legion ... morehelped Constantine put down rebellions they adopted this new device. The design on the bezel is a Floral Cross over an"X" The newer design was adopted by the Legion after the famous battle of the Milvian Bridge. There are also decorations on each shoulder. Each shoulder has the classic"COMET" decoration on them that are on a lot of these Legionary rings especially the Legionary Eagle and pentagram rings. This ring is a nice example of this ring type and is highly decorated. You can even see the wear towards the bottom of the bezel from being worn for so many years. This ring is one of the most solid examples of this ring type that I have seen in quite a while. The color and shine are both first rate making this example a highly sought after design which will help to make this ring a wonderful addition to any collection. Look at the shine and condition of this ring. It has excellent color and the surface is highly polished. Above are both side views against a white background I just had to put up an extra picture of this GEM to show the remaining"Comet" shoulder decorations. Do not miss your chance to add one of these highly desirable rings to you

CV Celtic Bronze Ring ~ AMAZING ~ SHAMAN RAVEN HAWK MAGIC size 10 1/4
CELTIC BRONZE RING Celtic Magic Shaman Raven/ Hawk Size 10 1/4 Average Opening = 20.01mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. A Truly INCREDIBLE Ring This ring was found in the Danube Valley and is not Roman. Because this ring is between 2,800 and 3,000 years old! This ring was old before the first hut was raised on one of Rome's fabled seven hills! This ring has a shamanic element to it. The bezel features an excellent representation of a stylized"RAVEN" or"HAWK" on a tear-shaped bezel that measures 13mm x 15mm and this is a design we do ... morenot often see on these"tear" shaped rings. Look closely at the design and you will see that it is a stunning abstractly designed bird figure. All parts of the bird are nicely represented. Including the beak, wing, tail feathers and especially the talons which seem poised to grasp something. The Ancient Celts used to use this decoration on many articles that they used in every day life and felt they needed divine assistance with. They put it on everything from the containers that they used to make alcoholic beverages to the items that they used to weave their cloth. The band is also interesting as you will note in the fourth picture. The WHOLE band is completely covered in a zig-zag pattern made using the punch-dot method. The condition of this ring is STUNNING. LOOK.at my pictures and you will see the nice color and shine because of the super alloy it was cast from. There is a definite reddish cast to the ring because it has a very high copper content. This GEM should mellow into that deep PLUM color that is so highly valued. This is an EXCITING find and one that will be sure to please. You may NEVER see one of these rings in such fine condition again! Above and below

CELTIC BRONZE RING Mystical Decorated" DRUID MAGIC POWER" Geometric or Possibly a Bird Figure? Size 9 Average Opening = 18.88mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. SIMPLE ELEGANCE& SUPER EXAMPLE This ring was found at a site in the Danube Valley and dates from around 600 B.C. This ring was cast from"high copper" alloy which gives it a buttery feel in the hand and lets the ring take an exquisite shine and lends it it's bright yellow-gold color. The 17mm X 7mm bezel has an"eye" shape to it and sits above a band of the triangular ... morecross section variety. There is a wide and heavy lip detail all around the bezel. The band is a bit misshapen from being worn by the same person for many years but the ring remains solid and intact. Look at the bezel design. There are many deeply engraved lines to make one of those"geometric" designs that the Celts were known for. In one way it looks an awful lot like a Celtic"Four Winds" design and probably had some type of magical meaning ascribed to it. Whenever I have had one of these in the past they looked truly geometric with a type of"Z" or backwards"Z" in the space between the two sets of curved lines but now I wonder if all of them were actually some type of stylized"Bird" figure. Because if you look at this one the swirly figure in the center actually looks more like a body. Neck and head of a bird than the other"Z" shapes and the sets of curved lines are actually pretty"wing-like" The way the pattern fills up the surface of this ring is magical indeed. This is a nice solid example of this cultures jewelry for that fan out there who appreciates Ancient Celtic jewelry. These early geometric patte

ANCIENT ROMAN BRONZE LARGE HEAD LONG SHIP NAIL SPIKE FROM LOT
You are bidding on a EXCEPTIONAL long Roman Ancient bronze ship nail Spike from lot. C. 1st-3rd century AD. Maybe less 2000 years(roman ship? Bronze nails of all sizes were made from a single piece of bronze by the Roman legion's blacksmiths in their workshop(fabrica) by smelting the bronze and forming the nails by hand. Producing a square tapered nail with a large head. The larger nails were used to hold the wooden stockade around the fort in place. They were also used to bind the timber roofing of the fort buildings and ships, or used to support the huge wooden City Gates. The blacksmith would cut off a nail length and hammer all four sides of the softened end to form a point. Then the nail maker would insert the hot nail into a hole in a nail header or anvil and with four glancing blows of the hammer would form the rosehead(a shallow ... morepyramid shape) Nails are symbols of Christ's Passion or Crucifixion because they were used to fasten Jesus to His holy cross. CV Celtic Bronze Ring FANCY FULLY DECORATED PAGAN SUN GOD 500 B.C.
CELTIC BRONZE RING Engraved Gold Pagan Tear Design Sun God"Bel" Design Size 9 1/2 Average Opening = 19.42mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. STUNNING! This ring comes from a batch of Celtic artifacts that were found near a burial site in the Danube Valley and dates from 600- 400 B.C. This fabulous ring is of the"Pagan Tear" variety. The bezel measures 10mm X 11mm. Look at the bezel engraving.TERRIFIC! The well done image is of a"SUN" symbol which stood for the"Sun God" of the Celtic peoples of Eastern Europe who was known ... moreas. Bel(Belenus or Belenos) Gaul) God of healing and light, and referred to as"The Shining One" He is in charge of the welfare of sheep and cattle. His wife is the goddess Belisama. They can be compared with Apollo and Minerva. It is from this God that we get the name for the Celtic Fire Festival Beltaine from. The bezel design is nice with its central circle with the central dot. The"rays" of sunlight are made of double rows of punched dots. there are more of these all around the edge of the bezel. This ring is solid and sound with a GORGEOUS. Gold color to it due to the high copper content of the alloy. In addition to the SUPER bezel decoration. There are decorations that completely encircle the edge of the bezel and there are nice"leather wrapping" decorations made of more rows of double dots. The band of this ring is EXTREMELY solid along its whole length. It is great to see such a nice design motif on such a well preserved ancient artifact. These designs always had some type of magical purpose ascribed to them when they were made and I am sure that this ring is no exception. The fact that it comes in a larger wearable size 9 1/2 is an added

These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. SUPER STAR! That's what this 2000 year old Roman Ring is.SUPER! This ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Moesia and dates from the 1st Century A.D. This ring features a 14mm x 14mm rounded-octagon bezel. The bezel has a nicely carved"Star-Cross" on it. The Star-Cross was a very early spiritual symbol and in later years was worked into and adopted by the Christians of Rome as their symbol. The designs carving is well done ... moreas you can see in my pictures. This"star-cross" has an added bonus. That the cross at the center is formed of 4 engraved"swords" These more detailed crosses are HIGHLY desirable and this is one of the best examples that I have seen in quite some time. This bezel sits above a nice solid band that is VERY wide for its size. The band measures just about 5.5mm wide along its whole length. The band's finish is mirror smooth as you can tell from my picture above. It was quite common for Roman soldier's to build up quite a little cache of"liberated" jewelry which they would use as a form of currency for their favorite activities. Gambling, women, food and drink. This ring has all the hallmarks of a True Collector's masterpiece! CV Celtic Bronze Ring FOUR WINDS BATTLE RING
CELTIC BRONZE RING Golden Celtic"Four Winds" Design Size 9 1/4 Average Opening = 19.22 mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This is a SUPER ring! This ring was found at the site of a Roman Military encampment but is of Celtic-Thracian origin and dates from around 100 B.C. The highlight is the engraved swirling design of the"Four Winds" symbol. The Celts as well as most other indigenous peoples of the area had a very strong connection with all things natural. Fair weather was a blessing for all and the Ancient Celts would try any method they ... morebelieved would work to try and curry favor with the gods. They were extremely fond of votive rings and amulets. They did double duty. They showed the gods that they really cared and that they looked nice when worn was an added benefit. This design is also great because of the type of ring that is made upon. Most of you will recognize this as a"Battle" ring because of the projecting bezel. This is only one of a handful of times that I have seen one of these"Four Wind" designs made on one of these rings. The"high copper" alloy that the ring was cast from. Accounts for the super color and fantastic shine of this ring. There are also great details on the shoulders of this ring. There are rows of engraved zig-zag lines on each shoulder cape. The color. Size, condition and shine of this ring are all 1st rate and it will make for a great"everyday" ring. Above is a look at the GREAT bezel decorations. Below is a birds-eye-view of this TERRIFIC ring. A Most TERRIFIC Ring! This ring is another Roman Battlefield site find from the Balkans and dates from between 100 and 300 A.D. This ring will be easily recognized by most of you as a Roman Legionary"Scutum" shield ring. This ring has nice engravings with the traditional four sets of triple engraved lines arranged in a diamond pattern with a nicely engraved lightning bolt zig-zagging its way through the center of the bezel. ... moreThis ring's bezel was not just engraved this way. This rings bezel design is CAST this way which is rare for these rings as is the heft and thickness of the ring. It is difficult to tell from my pictures but the central diamond is slightly raised up from the lines of the diamond outline. The finish on this ring is first class. Not only was this ring cast from an alloy that has a wonderful gold color but it polishes up so nicely that you can see your reflection in any part of the band as well as the bezel. This ring is SUPER solid and comes in a size 12 that I have only seen a half a handful of times with this ring style. Above and below are two more views of this nice ring in a popular motif. ROMAN POMPEII FRESCO REPLICA PRIAPUS GOD OF FERTILITY
A historical painting with great mythology! PRIAPUS(PRIAPOS) The Vettius house belonged to two wealthy merchants. Aulus Vettius Restitutus and Aulus Vettius Conviva. Its beautiful paintings(still in their original positions) and the skillful reconstruction of its apartments make it one of the most interesting houses to visit in the whole town. Some others say that he was utterly chasing after all the goddesses that the Gods kicked him out and Priapus fell to Earth. He was taken in by a herdsman. Who found that wherever this incredible creature went. Everything grew like crazy: Plants shot up from the ground. And animals hopped upon each other, copulating furiously and giving birth. Priapus soon became known as a fertility god, but this is only a part of his aspect. He also was said to cure impotence, bring good luck and was particularly adept at warding off the evil-eye. Ancient authors tell a lot about the worship of Priap u s. Women who wanted to have babies would wear amulets that represent his phallus. They would sing and chant while swinging those amulets tied to a string in his shrine. MAY THIS POMPEII PRIAPUS BRING YOU THE JOY. HAPPI

The real replica is much nicer than it looks in pictures. Ancient Fresco Technique: To get a smooth wall surface for the painting to be made on. The rough stone wall was covered with a number of chalk layers(sometimes even 6 or 7) or various content. On the last of these layers, which was very thin, the wall decoration was painted"al fresco" i.e. while the last layer of chalk was still wet. A Great Example! This ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Thracia and dates from 500- 700 AD and it's engravings are Byzantine in style. The bezel is a thick rounded shape that measures. 12mm X 10mm with a little lip decoration. This ring gives us a nice motif of an early Christian cross. The design on the bezel is a well executed"Trefoiled" Cross. The term"trefoil" refers to the three circles at the end of each ... morearm of the Cross. This is a pattern that was added to the Cross to represent the Holy Trinity. This is a nicely executed and noticeable Cross. This design was done expertly and is nicely framed by four pairs of light rays. I believe that this design was done on a much older ring which is most probably from the Roman Era. Because of the bezel shape. It's original Pagan design was replaced with a more desirable Christian motif. This ring is INCREDIBLY solid and both the color and shine are 1st Rate and it comes in a larger size that we do not usually see on these rings. Beautiful Shine and a Mysterious Design! Look at this Ancient Beauty that was found near a Celtic settlement site in the Danube Valley and dating from about 300 B.C. during the LaTene Period This ring features a 16mm X 10mm bezel in the classic"eye" shape which has a crisp engraving done in a style that was popular for many centuries before the Roman conquest of the Celtic lands. The center of the ... moredesign has a stylized"Animal Hide" symbol that is flanked to either side by a pair of branches and linear shading designs. Engraved in the center of the"hide" are some of the strange symbols that a lot of people think are some type of RUNES. Even though they DO resemble some of the Ancient Runes. I believe that they are some other sort of Magical Symbols or Script and the fact that they look like Runes is a coincidence or they could be some of the earlier Runes used by the Huns. I have NEVER seen this exact inscription ANYWHERE before and it must be a one of a kind that was used for a specific magical purpose. Although I cannot be sure of exactly what it was used for. In addition to the nice bezel engravings. There are nice linear decorations on both shoulders of this ring. For a ring that has seen much loving use over the course of it's existence, it has a remarkable shine and a well lived-in look the ring has wandering curves which are silky smooth. This ring has a Super Shine and a Mirror-Smooth surface and the color is a Bright Red-Gold. I think this ring may mellow into that deep. Plum color that is so highly desirable today. This brooch is almost certainly associated with the Roman cult of Mithras, representing the astral bull. If so this rare 2nd century brooch would have belonged to an early initiate, to enable other's to recognise him as such. Similar to how early Christian wore the fish symbol. A great and original Roman brooch. CULTURE: Roman SIZE: 38mm x 27mm WEIGHT: 4.9g DATE: 2nd Century AD MATERIAL: Bronze This brooch is guaranteed authentic and dates to the period described. Consequently, investment in antiquities is rising. Of course there are few of us who ... morecan afford to bid millions on objects like the Guennol Lioness, but, as availability decreases across the whole spectrum of ancient artefacts, investment is proving to be provident and wise, and most of all, for the sheer pleasure of owning a piece of ancient history. Roman Bronze Neck Torc with Stone
Roman Bronze Neck Torc with Stone dia: 122 mm weight: 61 gm The Roman Empire was the post-Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization. Characterised by an autocratic form of government and large territorial holdings in Europe and around the Mediterranean. The term is used to describe the Roman state during and after the time of the first emperor, Augustus. The 500-year-old Roman Republic, which preceded it, had been weakened and subverted through several civil wars. Several events are commonly proposed to mark the transition from Republic to Empire, including Julius Caesar's appointment as perpetual dictator(44 BC) the Battle of Actium(2 September 31 BC) and the Roman Senate's granting to Octavian the honorific Augustus(4 January 27 BC) Roman expansion began in the days of the Republic, but the empire reached its greatest ... moreextent under Emperor Trajan: during his reign the Roman Empire controlled approximately 6.5 million km2 of land surface. Because of the Empire's vast extent and long endurance, the institutions and culture of Rome had a profound and lasting influence on the development of language, religion, architecture, philosophy, law, and forms of government in the territory it governed, particularly Europe, and by means of European expansionism throughout the modern world. In the late 3rd century AD, Diocletian established the practice of dividing authority between four co-emperors, in order to better secure the vast territory, putting an end to the Crisis of the Third Century. During the following decades the empire was often divided along an East/West axis. After the death of Theodosius I in 395 it was divided for the last time.8] The Western Roman Empire collapsed in 476 as Romulus Augustus was forced to abdicate by Odoacer. Two Roman Bronze Eagle Brooches with Chain weight: 57 grams measures brooch: 55 mm/ 42 mm The history of the Roman world is an epic story which stretches out over the course of more than two millennia- the story of an small group of villages which went on to dominate a major part of the western world and was to substantially define its culture. It is obviously impossible to summarize the entire history within a few lines. However. Most chronologies distinguish between the following phases: Origins and Roman Monarchy(753- 509 B.C. A somewhat less familiar period, at the end of which Roman territory was only one small area, Latium, which remained threatened on all sides by Italic and Etruscan peoples. The Roman Republic(509- 27 B.C. paved the way for the institutions. Administration and organizational structures that were to sustain the force ... moreof Rome. By 264 B.C. Rome controlled the entire Italian peninsula. Its ambition would then be to dominate the Mediterranean. Following the destruction of Carthage in 146, this was achieved for the western part. Macedonia, allied with Carthage, was then defeated, and Greece was“liberated” from the Macedonians in 194. Rome occupied what is today the Turkish coastline. Julius Caesar was at the origin of the change which, within a few years(49-29 B.C. would change the Roman institutions into an empire which covered almost the whole of the Mediterranean shores, plus Gaul and present day Spain. The Roman Empire(27 B.C. 476 A.D. increased the grasp of Rome on the Western world even more so. However signs of crisis increase from 250 A.D. onwards. In 395, Theodosius shares the empire between his two sons. The Western Empire fell in 476, whereas the Byzantine Empire remained, with many trials and tribulations until 1453. However things are not that simple. The rise of Rome and the fall of the Empire ca

YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE ITEM PICTURED! The founding of Rome goes back to the very early days of civilization. It is so old. It is today known as'the eternal city' The Romans believed that their city was founded in the year 753 BC. Modern historians though believe it was the year 625 BC. Early Rome was governed by kings, but after only seven of them had ruled, the Romans took power over their own city and ruled themselves. They then instead had a council known as the'senate' which ruled over them. From this point on one speaks of the'Roman Republic'The word'Republic' itself comes from the Latin(the language of the ... moreRomans) words'res publica' which mean'public matters' or'matters of state' The senate under the kings had only been there to advise the king. Now the senate appointed a consul, who ruled Rome like a king, but only for one year. This was a wise idea, as like that, the consul ruled carefully and not as a tyrant, for he knew that otherwise he could be punished by the next consul, once his year was up.Rome knew four classes of people. This division was very important to the Romans. The lowest class were the slaves. They were owned by other people. They had no rights at all. The next class were the plebeians. They were free people. But they had little say at all. The second highest class were the equestrians(sometimes they are called the'knights' Their name means the'riders' as they were given a horse to ride if they were called to fight for Rome. To be an equestrian you had to be rich. The highest class were the nobles of Rome. They were called'patricians' All the real power in Rome lay with them. The Roman Republic was a very successful government. It lasted from 510 BC until 23 BC- almost 500 years. The Roman empire in the end was over

After the death of Theodosius I in 395 it was divided for the last time.8] The Western Roman Empire collapsed in 476 as Romulus Augustus was forced to abdicate by Odoacer. The Eastern Roman or Byzantine Empire ended in 1453 with the death of Constantine XI and the capture of Constantinople by the Ottoman Turks led by Mehmed II. Roman Bronze Compass
Roman Bronze Compass weight: 43 grams measures: 135 mm/ 48 mm The history of the Roman world is an epic story which stretches out over the course of more than two millennia- the story of an small group of villages which went on to dominate a major part of the western world and was to substantially define its culture. Administration and organizational structures that were to sustain the force of Rome. By 264 B.C. Rome ... morecontrolled the entire Italian peninsula. However signs of crisis increase from 250 A.D. onwards. With the rise of new peoples who threaten the borders of the Roman empire. Within the empire, Christianity progresses and the Emperor Constantine converts to it in 324. In 395, Theodosius shares the empire between his two sons. The Western Empire fell in 476, whereas the Byzantine Empire remained, with many trials and tribulations until 1453. However things are not that simple. The rise of Rome and the fall of the Empire cannot be scribed by a smooth

The Roman empire in the end was over
Ancient Greek Bronze Bell with Egyptian Osiris Statue Figure
A very rare ancient Greek bronze bell. With an ancient Egyptian bronze votive statue of Osiris used as the clapper! The unlikely pastiche is of ancient manufacture, rather than modern and shows that the ancient Greeks were quite prepared to recycle an Egyptian-made bronze effigy for use in a completely functional context. Whether the bell was intended for religious. Funerary or other functional reasons is not known. An early 20th century collectors card originally affixed to the piece records that it was recovered from the Greek south Italian colony of Cumae during excavations. The Osiris figure can be dated stylistically and would have been made in Egypt during the Late Period. Approximately 664-323- a date consistent with the one presumably established from the excavations and recorded on the collector's card. The statue would originally ... morehave been made as a votive gift to the god Osiris; gifted to the god in thanks for, or in anticipation of, a favor. The god is shown mummiform, holding the crook and flail with beard and atef crown. The suspension loop at the back would have enabled the figure to have been worn as an amulet in ancient times. For protection. The tang at the bottom would have enabled the piece to have been inserted into a wooden base where it would have stood upright. How this votive depiction of Osiris came to be found in south Italy is quite remarkable. However. It is most unlikely that the Osiris could have been used in its current form by an ancient Egyptian, who would have seen the use of the statue as a clapper as a sacrilegious act. Height: 3 1/8 inches. Width: 3 7/8 inches. Height of Osiris alone: 2 3/4 inches. Condition: Unrestored. The top of the bell was either constructed in two sections or has been subject to an ancient repair. The bronze loop attachment. Upper bell as well as the handle are all heavily patinated and have not been the subject of modern interference. A small hole on one side of the bell consistent with earlier attack of"bronze disease" Provenance: Ex. Co

Gladiator, Spartan Helmet Pendant Solid Sterling Silver with FREE silver chain
Spartan Soldier's helmet. Also called a Galea was worn by Roman/ Greek Legioneers and also gladiators, when action required. It is hard to single out any exact design or type of the Roman or Greek helmet. What we tried to deliver here is a combination of most common features of this beautiful and advanced creation of the period of time it was developed. Used, and examined by harsh tests in severe conditions. Design of the helmet varied significantly over time. Between differing unit types, and also between individual examples. Ancient military equipment was made by hand, so it is not certain to what degree there was any standardization even under the Roman or Greek Empires. This Pendant/Slide is created and assembled with fixed cheek guard.
