About This Ring This highly impressive and boldly handsome ancient Roman bronze ring is indeed a very rare find to say the least! It is incredibly large and weighty. And boasts a smooth textured surface all around. Its band starts off thick and expands even more at the shoulders, where a series of alternating decorative linear carvings are made. Right before the bezel, the perimeter of its base is decorated with a series of fine linear etchings. Its bezel is very thick, large and rounded and bears the symbol“X” which is carved deeply into the surface. This symbol represents the Roman numeral 10, which is symbolic of the Legio X Equestris(Roman Tenth Legion) Across the middle of the bezel and through the‘X’ symbol, a row of deep linear etched filled carvings is made; bordered by parallel lines on each side, giving this bezel’s surface a shield-lik

YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE ITEM PICTURED! The founding of Rome goes back to the very early days of civilization. It is so old. It is today known as'the eternal city' The Romans believed that their city was founded in the year 753 BC. Modern historians though believe it was the year 625 BC. Early Rome was governed by kings, but after only seven of them had ruled, the Romans took power over their own city and ruled themselves. They then instead had a council known as the'senate' which ruled over them. From this point on one speaks of the'Roman Republic'The word'Republic' itself comes from the Latin(the language of the Romans) words'res publica' ... morewhich mean'public matters' or'matters of state' The senate under the kings had only been there to advise the king. Now the senate appointed a consul, who ruled Rome like a king, but only for one year. This was a wise idea, as like that, the consul ruled carefully and not as a tyrant, for he knew that otherwise he could be punished by the next consul, once his year was up.Rome knew four classes of people. This division was very important to the Romans. The lowest class were the slaves. They were owned by other people. They had no rights at all. The next class were the plebeians. They were free people. But they had little say at all. The second highest class were the equestrians(sometimes they are called the'knights' Their name means the'riders' as they were given a horse to ride if they were called to fight for Rome. To be an equestrian you had to be rich. The highest class were the nobles of Rome. They were called'patricians' All the real power in Rome lay with them. The Roman Republic was a very successful government. It lasted from 510 BC until 23 BC- almost 500 years. The Roman empire in the end was overrun by millions of barbaria

AD200 Roman Province Britannia England Legionary "Chicken" Eagle Bronze Ring Sz9
Genuine Ancient Engraved Legionary Eagle Intaglio Ring Third Century A.D. CLASSIFICATION: Ancient Roman Bronze Ring with an Engraved“Legionary Eagle” Oval Intaglio-Style Bezel. ATTRIBUTION: Western Roman Empire(Britannia) Late Second or Third Century A.D. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Fits ring size 9(U.S. Diameter: 22 1/2mm* 22mm(outer dimensions) 19 1/2mm* 18 1/2(inner diameter) Bezel: 18 1/2mm(length) 9 1/2mm(height) 3 ½(thickness) Tapered Width Band: 9mm(at bezel) 5mm(at sides) 3mm(at back) Weight: 7.28 grams. CONDITION: Very Good! Complete. Moderate wear consistent with ancient usage. Moderately light porosity(surface pitting caused by contact with earth while buried) Professionally conserved. DETAIL: A bronze ring circa late second or third century A.D. Intact albeit moderately worn and with very light pebbling(porosity) to the surfaces of ... morethe metal. As you can see, the ring is very basic in design, though very bold, handsome, and elegant in design. The"bezel" or face of the ring is engraved with a Roman Legionary Eagle, wings folded, side profile, head to the right, the quintessential symbol of the Roman Legionary Army. However this is not what you might call a“classical depiction” of a Roman Legionary Eagle, which is usually head on or a three-quarters angle, with wings partly opened. This depiction is not even very fearsome, intimidating, or awe-inspiring at all. It seems a rather amateurish depiction, a simplification with little detail(not much more than an outline) perhaps done by someone not very familiar with what a Roman Legionary eagle was supposed to look like, as it looks rather more like a chicken than an eagle. But I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and even if the depiction does not strike fear into the heart of the beholder(but rather amusement) it is still a wonderful depiction, even if quite atypical. As you can see. The periphery of the bezel was engraved with a boundary accent line, suggesting that perhaps the ring might have been used as a sea

CV Roman Bronze Ring SUPER LEGIONARY SOLDIERS BATTLE SHIELD ~ size 11 1/2
ROMAN BRONZE RING Perfectly Decorated Legionary Shield Size 11 1/2 Average Opening = 21.06mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This ring has an SUPERB design! This fine ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Moesia and dates from between 100 and 300 AD This ring features the Roman Legionary Shield design. There is a shield design in the center of the bezel that is less common. Where the more common rings have a diamond surrounded by sets of lines in a diamond shape or a chevron. This example has vertical panels with alternating, filled-in, zig-zag ... morepatterns of triangles and diamonds that were carved in such a way that they REALLY jump out at you. The design on this ring is in TIP TOP condition. The design is crisp and clear and very well done. The shoulders of this ring are wide and MIRROR smooth as you can tell by the reflections in the second picture of the ring. You can see the nice shoulder decorations which are a little more fancy than we usually see. This is an AMAZING Legionary Artifact. Ancient Rome may have passed into history. But at least we have these artifacts to remind us of Rome's legendary might. It was common practice for Roman soldiers to wear rings that resembled the devices on their shields. There is a little extra wear here and there which adds to the charm of this STUNNING ring. This ring was also cast from an odd. Silvery b bronze alloy as you can tell from my pictures. In some lights it looks like silver but you can also see some golden highlights bounce off it as you move it in the sunlight. This ring has an uncommon design that makes this ring a rare treat indeed. ATTENTION* A few of you have asked me to give you a"heads up" on when a good"everyday" ring comes up. Well.he
CV Roman Bronze Ring LEGIONARY SOLDIERS SWORD STAR-CROSS
ROMAN BRONZE RING Golden Star Sword-Cross Design Size 8 1/2+ Average Opening = 18.60mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. SUPER STAR! That's what this 2000 year old Roman Ring is.SUPER! This ring was found at a Roman site in Ancient Moesia and dates from the 1st Century A.D. This ring features a 14mm x 14mm rounded-octagon bezel. The bezel has a nicely carved"Star-Cross" on it. The Star-Cross was a very early spiritual symbol and in later years was worked into and adopted by the Christians of Rome as their symbol. The designs carving is well done ... moreas you can see in my pictures. This"star-cross" has an added bonus. That the cross at the center is formed of 4 engraved"swords" These more detailed crosses are HIGHLY desirable and this is one of the best examples that I have seen in quite some time. This bezel sits above a nice solid band that is VERY wide for its size. The band measures just about 5.5mm wide along its whole length. The band's finish is mirror smooth as you can tell from my picture above. It was quite common for Roman soldier's to build up quite a little cache of"liberated" jewelry which they would use as a form of currency for their favorite activities. Gambling, women, food and drink. This ring has all the hallmarks of a True Collector's masterpiece! Do NOT miss your chance to own this FINE Roman ring Above and below are two more views of this FINE piece of Ancient History. Above is a picture that shows you the AMAZING shine on the rings that I am offering tonight. This ring is Round& Sound and 100% wearable This ring has a Wonderful Golden color to it with faint patina traces remaining This ring is a bit out of round but fits somewhere a li

Ancient Roman Massive Dual Thumb Ring Legionary ‘Aquila’ Eagle 1st Cent. AD
Ancient Roman Massive Dual Thumb Ring Legionary‘Aquila’ Eagle 1st Cent. AD Apart from gold and other precious metals. Romans used glass to make their jewelry. Roman jewelry gives us an insight into the culture of this ancient country. Just like other ancient civilizations. Rome also had its distinct strata of social classes. In the Roman society, jewelry was worn for indicating the social status of a person and attaching pieces of clothing rather than beautification. Gold was used by the artisans and jewelers for carving the adornments and jewelry as it was believed to be the metal of the Gods and supposed to have descended from the sun. Other than gold, the materials used in jewelry making were bronze, Roman glass, bone beads and precious gemstones which were excavated from far off places like Persia, Far East, Indus Valley, etc. Diamonds, ... moreemeralds and sapphires found their way from the silk route to the Roman land to appease the rich and mighty of this civilization. This very impressive. Very rare adornment portrays the“Aquila” also known as an eagle in ancient Roman times. This solid and weighty ancient Roman legionary ring consists of an incredibly thick and large rounded band which consists of two bezels; one with a geometric decorative carving and the other with the“Aquila” legionary eagle) This ring would have been treasured and worn by a male legionary officer. A dark, natural patina is retained all over with its original vibrant bronze hue peeking through in many areas. This handsome ring is fully intact, of excellent condition and is smooth all around, making for a very comfortable fit when worn today. An aquila. Or eagle, was the standard of a Roman legion. It was carried by a legionary known as an aquilifer, or eagle-bearer. One eagle was carried by each legion. The eagle was extremely important to the Roman military. Beyond merely being a symbol of a legion. A lost standard was considered an extremely grave occurrence, and the Roman military often went to great lengths to both protect a standa

CV Roman Bronze Ring LARGE LEGIONARY SHIELD DESIGN ~ size 10 ~
ROMAN BRONZE RING Perfect Golden Legionary Shield Size 10 Average Opening = 19.85mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This ring has an EXCELLENT shine! This fine ring was found at a Roman encampment site in Ancient Moesia and dates from between 100 and 300 AD This ring features the Roman Legionary Shield design. There are four sets of three engraved lines that are arranged to form a diamond in the center of the bezel. The design on this ring is in TIP TOP condition! The design is crisp and clear and very well done. This was one of the most common designs back ... morewhen I started restoring rings. Over the years I have seen many of these with another design inside the central diamond shape. Sometimes there are 6 or 8 point stars and often there is an X which is the Roman numeral 10 and very often there is a zig-zag lightning bolt. The surface of this ring is as smooth as glass. Here is your chance to get a simple yet larger sized specimen at a great starting price for a restored ring. Ancient Rome may have passed into history. But at least we have these artifacts to remind us of Rome's legendary might. It was common practice for Roman soldiers to wear rings that resembled the devices on their shields. This ring has more shine than any 1800 year old ring has a right to. This ring is perfect for the man who REALLY needs a larger ring with a GREAT motif. Above is a group picture showing the shine of this ring and the others I am offering tonight. This ring is Round& Sound and 100% wearable This ring has a Wonderful Golden color to it with faint patina traces remaining This ring is not a perfect circle but measures right around a size 10 American Average Opening measures 19.8
ROMAN SILVER LEGIONARY RING Ist cent B.C
Roman silver intaglio ring around I century B.C. In the ring we can see a Roman legionary with gladius, scutum and monterfortino helmet, the ring can be easily dated around the Ist B.C for two reasons, first the monterfortino helmet( of Celtic heritage) was widely used in the republican Roman legion around the II to Ist cent. B.C and the scutum seems to be cut on a primitive square form which was one of the reforms taken on the Roman military equipment by senator Gaius Marius which started on the 107 b.c and most of the Roman army suffered changes from the way they were recruited to the equipment they carried in battle. I have added a picture of a I st cent roman legionary to see the similaroties with the figure depicted in the ring. The ring is in very good condition it has been professionally cleaned and it.S still strong and wearable. ... moreSize on the inner band is around 2cm which is around a 10 or 10 1/2 ring size. It is as close to like new condition that you can get with something that could sit happily in any museum. This ring features a round. Raised, cone setting with a great carnelian stone with zero cracks or chips to it. The 8mm round stone is cabochon cut and has a nicely engraved head of a LEGIONARY EAGLE. Now the actual Eagle design is the best that I have ever had the pleasure to work on. Most of these rings have a picture of a whole eagle with much less detail but this example is an intaglio carved in deep relief with a ton of details from the tip of his beak to the last feather on his head. As you see in my pictures. There is only the slightest wear to the band and we can tell tha

These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. OUTSTANDING SHINE& DESIGN! This ring was found at a Roman Legionary site in Ancient Moesia and dates from between 100 and 300 A.D. This fine ring features a wonderful bezel design of an"Aegis" or the goatskin cloak of a Roman Legionary. These goatskin cloaks were worn when on campaign and on parade and had supposed powers of protection that were attributed to the God Jupiter. Though ... morethis is the accepted description of this engraved design. I have been coming across references that lead me to believe that these may be some type of specialized"Sun" symbol. The"Star Burst" in the center of the"cloak" helps to further this belief. Except this example is a little more different than most of these rings. These usually have from 6 to 10 points but this one has 5 which may have been done to look like a Pentagram Star on purpose. The bezel is a 13mm rounded bezel with a lip decoration and has a glass like surface that is hard to tell in the pictures. Another odd thing about this ring is that it is made on a ring that almost always had some type of Celtic design but this example had a design that is usually see on Roman style rings. The shine and color of this ring are TOP NOTCH.as is the SHINE! This ring was also cast from the popular"High Copper" alloy which really allows it to shine and sparkle and has that blush champagne color to it and the band is thinner on one side of the ring than on the other. This ring also comes in a great. Wearable size 9 1/2 This fine ring will draw admiring glances wherever it is worn! Above an

Absolutely outstanding Ancient Roman Legionary Silver Ring of Legion III
Absolutely outstanding Ancient Roman Legionary Silver Ring of Legion III Small ancient Roman Legionary silver ring of Legion III. Whether Augusta or Cyrenica is not known. The ring consisting of a solid band slightly rounded and ending in wider bended shoulders and a transversely oval bezel. The bezel depicting a straight forward eagle, the wings vertical and standing on a rod or similar. Right and left is engraved a legion standard. The lower end of the rod is incised with the inscription LEG and III. The last two pictures show the ring in the original uncleaned condition. We have cleaned it a little so that the details are easier to see but tried to preserve the original condition and patina. Legio III(Third Augustan Legion) was a Roman legion raised in the year 43 BCE most likely by the consul Gaius Vibius Pansa and the emperor Augustus ... morewho served the Roman Empire in North Africa until at least the late 4th century CE. It is possible that it fought in the battle of Philippi against the murderers of Caesar. It is probable that the Legion served Augustus while he waged war against Sextus Pompeius who threatened the grain supply from Africa to Rome. After he had won. Augustus turned on Lepidus and defeated him, winning the province of Africa in the process. The next movement of the legion is unclear but“it is certain that from 30 BCE on, the Third was permanently in Africa, although it was not always stationed in the same camp. The increasing importance of the grain supply from Africa made the presence of the legion all the more important. The legion suffered several wars, constant border skirmishes, rebellions, disbandment, reformation, and yet, it managed to defend Northern Africa for a period of 500 years. During this time, it was a military force but more so, it was a building and cultural force that was a major mover in the urbanization of the province. 3.4. C. AD Weight 7.4 grams. Size 1.8 x 1.6 mm. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. PERFECT PENTAGRAM! This super ring was found in the Balkans by metal detector and dates from the first few centuries A.D. This ring features a PERFECT and CHOICE"Pentagram" symbol surrounded by a nice bezel outline. There are groups of dots which symbolize lesser stars in between the points of the Star and another of them in the center of the main star. LOOK.at the groupings between the points of the Star! These just aren't ... morethe random groups we are used to seeing. These are arranged in a semi-circle with another one in the center. The bezel of this ring is thick and bold. The bezel measures 18mm in diameter and is quite thick Each shoulder swoops away gracefully from the round bezel. There are also the remains of some nice. This is one of the classiest examples of this ring type that I have EVER seen. The Pentagram or Pentacle has been used as a mystical sign for millennia and has a deep spiritual meaning for many cultures. It wasn't until the Middle Ages and the Inquisition in particular that a negative connotation began to be associated with it. This ring has a super color to it and the band is mirror smooth with spectacular shine. This ring was cast from that alloy that has that rich. Golden color which is so desirable. This ring also comes in a larger size 9. This fact and the super shine. Coupled with the flawless engravings make this a highly sought after item. Above and below are two more views of this EXCITING ring. This is probably one of the few stellar examples of this ring-type that I have ever come across. Above are both side views of this AMAZING ring against a white backg

CV Roman Bronze Ring ***NEW*** SUPERB LEGIONARY SHIELD ~ Extra Solid Condition
ROMAN BRONZE RING Best Yet! Super Legionary Shield Ring! Size 8 1/2 Average Opening = 18.53mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. This is one GORGEOUS ring! This is a Legionary"Shield" ring that was found by metal detector at a Roman Battlefield site and dates from between 100 and 300 A.D. This ring features the"E-3" shield design. It's called E-3 because that's what the main engravings on the sides of the bezel most closely resemble. Those archaeologist aren't big on imagination when it comes to naming things I guess. The ONLY ... moreproblem with this name for THIS ring is that the"E-3" design is really more of an"X" and the deepness and clarity of the design tells us that the upper and lower arms just aren't worn away. These rings are a first cousin to the popular"Diamond Shield" designs with the four sets of engraved lines arranged in a diamond pattern. These rings usually had either zig-zags. Lightning bolts, or a double row of dots running vertically through the center of the shield. This example has the double row of dots. Most of you will have seen these design engraved on a round or oval bezel and this bezel is octagonal and measures 14mm X 13mm. The thickness and roundness to the whole design makes this ring one of the best examples of this ring type that I have been able to offer in the last year. Even both sides of the band have some vertical banding remaining on them. This ring is a GREAT example of it's type and these rings are getting rarer all the time. Above and below are two more views of this nice ring in a terrific wearable size. Look at the color and shine of this BEAUTY! The picture above illustrates the shine that I was able to achieve on tonights rin

CV Roman Bronze Ring **NEW*** LARGE LEGIONARY SOLDIERS VOTIVE VIRGIN LILY FLOWER
ROMAN BRONZE RING Golden Soldier's Goddess"VENUS" Votive Ring Size 9 1/2 Average Opening = 19.40mm Antiquities Corner is proud to present this fine historical artifact for your collecting pleasure. These artifacts were originally designed to be enjoyed by their owners and I have tried to return these treasures to a state which will both charm and enchant their new owners and show the skill and craftsmanship of old. What a SUPER ring! This ring was found at a Roman military encampment site in the former Roman Province of Moesia and dates from 100- 300 A.D. This ring features a large 16mm rounded bezel which has a votive motif on it. There is a flower engraved rather deeply in the center of the bezel. The engraving is of some type of"LILY" The Lily is known as the"Virgin's Flower" and also as the symbol ... moreof Innocence. Light, Purity, Perfection, Mercy and Majesty. In Greco-Roman mythology this flower was sacred to Hear and Artemis. Even though Venus or Aphrodite as the Greeks called her was best known as the goddess of love she was supposed to have a soft spot for soldiers who fell in battle so some soldiers made offerings to her so she would look after them if they should fall in battle. In Byzantium and early France. It was a royal emblem(the fleur-de-lis is sometimes considered a stylized lily) Primarily the lily has Christian associations, usually attached to the Virgin Mary where it signifies chastity. when Christ is shown as the judge of the world with a lily in his mouth, the flower represents mercy. A lily and a sword signify guilt and innocence. The surface of this ring is silky smooth and with perfect shine. In addition to the nice bezel engravings. There are many teeny highlighting lines on the shoulders. Above and below are a couple more views of this remarkable ring. Every surface of this ring is as smooth as glass. I had to take the pictures in partial shade or the glare would have made it too difficult to photograph. Above is a picture that shows the SUPER shine of

Genuine Roman Silver Legionary Ring from Legio Decima Gemina (tenth twin legion)
Genuine Roman Silver Legionary Ring from Legio X Decima Gemina(tenth twin legion) Authentic Roman Silver Legionary ring either from Legio X Fretensis or probably due to the locality information near Carnuntum rather Legio X Gemina. The ring consisting of a flat band rounded from the outside and ending in a round bezel. The bezel depicting a Roman legionary Eagle with outstreched wings with two stars and a moon on top. One shoulder with engraved letters LEG. The other one with"X" The letters with massive abrasion and the" X" is better seen in the photos than in reality. Legio decima Gemina(Tenth Twin Legion) Was one of the four legions used by Julius Caesar in 58 BC, for his invasion of Gaul. There are still records of the X Gemina in Vienna in the beginning of the 5th century. Early on in its history, the legion was called ... moreX Equestris(mounted) because Caesar once used the legionaries as cavalry. In the Gallic Wars. X Equestris played an important role on Caesar's military success and for this reason is sometimes said to be his favorite. The legion was reconstituted in 42 BC and fought for Augustus(then Octavian) Lepidus and Mark Antony in the Battle of Philippi against the murderers of Caesar. The newly formed X Gemina was relocated to Hispania Tarraconensis, where Augustus was preparing a campaign against the Cantabrians. During the 3rd century. The legion fought for several emperors, who awarded the legion with titles showing the fidelity of the legion and the favour gained by the Emperor himself. The titles Antoniniana(awarded by Caracalla or Elagabalus) Gordiana(by Gordian III) Deciana(by Decius) Floriana(by Florianus) and Cariniana(by Carinus) were short-lived, however, and dropped after the death of the Emperor. For its support of Emperor Gallienus against Postumus, the Gemina was awarded the title Pia VI Fidelis VI, six times faithful, six times loyal"At the time in which Notitia Dignitatum was written(late 4th century) the first detachment of Decima Gemina was under the command

Ancient artefacts are finite. Less are being discovered as time passes, and of course at some point in the future there will be no more. The quantity and availability of these ancient historic pieces is ever decreasing as collectors and museums purchase these objects and take them permanently off the market. Consequently, investment in antiquities is ... morerising. Of course there are few of us who can afford to bid millions on objects like the Guennol Lioness, but, as availability decreases across the whole spectrum of ancient artefacts, investment is proving to be provident and wise, and most of all, for the sheer pleasure of owning a piece of ancient history.
