Once opened, you can see that all of the internal brass fittings have been professionally re-polished to gleam and a new writing skiver has been fitted with gold embossing. There is a cut crystal inkwell with a lift off lid(a few rough spots around the interior neck, mentioned purely for accuracy) a removable pen tray and another little lidded compartment for pen nibs and the like. Each side of the writing slope lifts to reveal a storage area below for stationery, letters and other papers. A really superb box in superb condition, measuring 13 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" tall while closed. Stationery and pen for display purposes only and not included in the sale. Made in France, Circa 1900, Painted, Gold painted trim and accents, Two drawers, Brass pulls, Dovetailed drawer joints, Rustic finish, Two cosmetic age splits to back corners, Sturdy, This lovely painted writing table was made in France around 1900. It is a sort of canyon red color with gold painted accents and trim. The paint has a rustic finish giving the desk plenty of charm and character. There are two drawers that open and close easily and are constructed with dovetailed joints. From the floor to the bottom of the desk ... moremeasures 24" Which is pretty standard and should fit most chairs. This writing desk is quite sturdy and in overall very good condition. There are two cosmetic age splits on the back corners(see pictures) These are a naturally occurring phenomenon that do not affect the structural integrity of the desk. The four tapered legs of the desk are beautifully decorated and end in brass casters. This desk has plenty of rustic charm and would make a lovely addition to any home or office. Solid wood writing table/ desk it measures 33 inches wide 16 inches deep 27&1/2 inches high. I could not find any marks on it to tell what company made this item I have looked all over and was not able to find anything. It is a nice sturdy piece solid wood single drawer dovetail joint there is a key hole in the drawer but I do not have a key.
