French Empire Style Antique Classical Gilt Marble Top Gueridon Round Hall Table

Pedestal, some feet) c. 1825 and significantly rebuilt in the 20th Century Item# 12001078208 This is a beautiful decorative work. Crafted using old parts to lend originality and age to the table as it was crafted for a second time during the 20th Century. It features a broad solid black and gray marble top, resting over a new mahogany veneered top with pine plywood secondary woods, attaching to the head of the base with screws from beneath. The pedestal itself appears to be of the period, probably c. 1825, a wonderful gesso decorated and gilt highlighted work of art that is wrapped in a bulbous leafed palmetto formation over a ring turned base. This tenons into the triangular Lion Footed mahogany ... moreveneered base. Most of the feet are rebuilt, though after one original foot to maintain the integrity of the design. While this is not a collector quality work. This is an affordable work with significant character and age throughout. An original Gueridon of this style would be prohibitively priced, making this the perfect selection of a decorator with a budget looking for the depth of an original without the cost. Measurements: 36" wide x 29 1/4" high Condition Report: 1. Severely distressed gilt with exposed and damaged gesso on pedestal. 2. Numerous chips to marble top around the edge(all photographed in the slideshow) 3. Composed of old parts. Meaning portions of this table were originally a period Gueridon table, probably damaged significantly which led to it being overhauled: Round top is not original. Most feet are rebuilt(one looks like it is original) regilded, the top of the pedestal is 20th century, the marble is probably later too. 4. Feet have some mismatched veneer. Drilled in two places beneath to perfectly rest on two steel knobs from beneath, this French Empire style Gueridon Hall Table boasts a large comfortable surface. It's broad surface allows it to work particularly well as the centerpiece of a large hall or entryway, but also being petite enough to function as a table between to large arm chairs. The round frame is solid mahogany beneath flamed mahogany veneers with a golden oak board in the center. Stunning cast gilt-bronze anthemion mounts flank a lotus flower motif on each side of the table. Very beautiful. Mid Century reproduction of the antique William Kent, Georgian, or French Empire, Federal Eagle console or entry table. This amazing table features realistic features and exquisite detailing in a deep relief which replicates hand carving. The table consists of a large eagle with outstetched wings resting on a raised plinth. The eagle has deep patterning and realistic details all in a beautiful gilded finish. The fabulous marble top is black with beautiful white veins. It is mounted on a gorgeous carved frieze with carved, curved details and finished with an egg and dart pattern. The table is probably Italian made. The previous owners lived in Italy for many years and their children indicated that they had it shipped from Italy when they moved. It is in extraordinary condition and looks practically new. There is one small section ... moreof what appears to be a repair on one corner of the marble top. It is neither glaring nor distracting and it is photographed for you. Original tables of this design are currently bringing $35,000 and up at auction. New reproductions are listing at over $7,000. This is a great price on a table of this importance, design and age. The table measures 32" tall and 33" long. It is approximately 14" from front to back. The marble on the top is 3/4" thick. We are pleased to offer this exceptionally beautiful and detailed antique(1920s) French Empire, Gueridon style table. The table features solid wood construction with mahogany veneer. The original gilt(ormolu) brass or bronze mounts are abundant. They are fashioned in acanthus or laurel leaf swags around the bottom of the table. The mounts featured on the table skirt section have faces incorporated in their centers. There are also floral medallion mounts for accent. The table top is beautiful and is green malachite marble with interesting veining and a beveled edge. The table has 4 legs. Each leg features an Egyptian character. The faces/busts are bronze or brass as are the feet. Their bodies consist completely of the marble which is a rare find in these tables. The table stretcher connects the legs and features mahogany with a marble centerpiece ... moreand bronze/brass acorn finial. This is a fabulous table with exquisite detail and design. It is in exceptional condition for its age(very early 20th century) As is common with these pieces, there is some minor chipping of the veneer around the base of the table. There is one area of wood on the stretcher that has a small crack which has been resolved at some point and there is a small bubble of the veneer on the table skirt. These issues are resolvable and do not take away or distract from this beautiful table. The marble top has a couple of scratches, again, not major and not distracting. Overall, the table is in very good condition. There are no missing bronze mounts. The table is quite sturdy. There is VERY slight movement in the legs due to the construction. Each leg is doweled into the table top and base. They do not remove. The marble top is also fixed and does not remove. I do not know if this was in the original design or if a previous owner fixed the marble to the table. This is a rare table and a treasured piece. The table measures 29" tall. Drilled in two places beneath to perfectly rest on two steel knobs from beneath, this fine Gueridon boasts a large comfortable surface- the top remains in pristine condition. The round frame is constructed with a laminated mahogany core beneath vibrant flamed mahogany veneers, encircling a golden oak plank in the center. Very finely cast gilt-bronze anthemion mounts flank a lotus flower motif on each corner of the table. The round frame joins the thick dowels of the palmettos, these sinking deep into generous corner blocking. The table ... moreis raised on deeply reeded and tapered legs culminating in gilded palmette capitals, these flawlessly executed with outstanding carved detail, over a set of four miniaturized lotus flower castings. We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL AND RARE DESIGN. Antique to older vintage(early 20th century) entry, library, gueridon table. This is a GRAND table, both in scale as well as detail. The table is Rosewood veneer with inlay(marquetry) designs. The table has been completely hand painted(original) in a fabulous flower and drapery pattern. The floral theme is continued in the design of the table base. The base features a very rare, flower petal form, stretcher which is incorporated beautifully into the table design. Each of the 6 petals attaches to each of the table's legs. There are intricate bronze feet which rest on the stretcher. The legs are separated with fabulous arches. The arches are accented with bronze trim. There are also large bronze decorative, acanthus swag mounts on the table apron, in between the legs and arches. ... moreThe painted details are superb. The bellflowers are quite unique with a"ringed" accent detail on each bulb. This is an incredibly beautiful and unique table. It is not marked but it is quite special. It is very large and heavy. It is in very good condition with minor signs of age/use. As is quite common with these pieces. There are areas of"bubbling" to the veneer but all of the veneer is intact. The bronze is completely intact with no missing pieces. There are some"gaps" if you will, around the table top where the bronze trim is located. This means that, although still attached, you can see a space between the trim and the table top in a few areas. This is neither severe nor distracting. You can also see the sections where the table base comes together. The high gloss finish does have surface scratches and some pitted areas on the table top. These are visible in direct light, and not noticeable unless in direct light. In general, this is a fabulous table in VERY GOOD condition. This is a one of a kind design. It is truly beautiful. Absolutely stunning. Petite, console table. The table is French Art Deco or Empire in design and features walnut construction with a black paint and parcel gilt finish. The black paint is"rubbed" and the underlying walnut wood is exposed in several areas. There is a polyurethane protective coat over the paint. The front leg is a hand carved swan with nice detail. The table is old and dates to the early half of the 1900s. It is not marked and is probably a hand crafted piece(not a mass produced table) It is in good condition. The table is doweled at the stretcher leg area as well as where the legs fit into the table top. There is also a brass flat screw on the under side.
